Lou Rhodes and Rohan Heath of Kiiōtō join Taya Jae on Talkin' Music to celebrate the release of their debut Album, As Dust We Rise.
Stuart is joined in the Salford Loose Ends studio by the Welsh Sprinter Iwan Thomas, who held the UK 400m record for 25 years. His new memoir 'Brutal', tells his story - one of speed, the drive to succeed and an extremely high tolerance for pain. . Comedian Chloe Petts is gearing up for the Edinburgh Fringe, and in perhaps the ultimate highbrow/lowbrow combination; she's just presented a series on Radio 4 on the history of the toilet. Raghu Dixit is an independent Indian artist, soundtrack composer and former Microbiologist. His new album 'Shakkar' has been inspired by his personal struggles, but spreads a message of joy and kindness. Kiiōtō is the new project by singer songwriter (and former Lamb vocalist) Lou Rhodes and musician and songwriter Rohan Heath, formerly of the Urban Cookie Collective. They are just about to release their debut album 'As Dust We Rise'. Anna Ptaszynski joins us for some sport fact ephemera and Lottie Gross talks about where to take your dog on holiday. "Lamb" are an electronic music duo comprised of singer/songwriter Lou Rhodes and multi-instrumentalist producer, Andy Barlow.Back in 1994 Lou Rhodes was writing her own original songs but wanted to produce a sound that fused her folk songwriting sensibilities with a more breakbeat/trip-hop approach, a sound she was discovering through listening to various pirate radio stations. After struggling to find the right creative partner, a mutual friend put her in touch with producer Andy Barlow, who at the time was ending a stint as an engineer in a Manchester based studio. After an initial meeting, the pair decided to book some studio time to see what they could come up with. The result was a unique sonic blend of Lou's melodic vocals over Andy's drum & bass inspired beats. With only a few songs in hand they were soon signed to a 6 album deal. On this episode, Jay and Jesse discuss what happened next, and everything in between. To listen to the full episode, including the featured music, visit... signlradio.com"Roots to Grooves" is a production of SIGNL.https://www.signlradio.comhttps://www.instagram.com/signlradiohttps://www.twitter.com/signlradiohttps://www.facebook.com/signlradiohttps://www.mixcloud.com/signlhttps://open.spotify.com/user/96mhz6qfjoztxbl2dpm0uj903?si=aAZpsoEnRAKdx85kr1QWhg
This week I am joined by peerless creative practitioner Lou Rhodes of the seminal UK Electronic music duo Lamb. Lou Rhodes has, alongside co-creator Andy Barlow, carved out an emblematic position for blending folk/song with electronic music on the world stage with some incredible sonic journeys over the years. Many of you will be familiar with Lamb's music. As a solo artist she has been Mercury Music Prize nominated for her debut solo album 'Beloved One'. It was after the release of this album that I joined as guitarist, having just relocated from Ireland, for an amazing couple of years of touring. We get deep into the tunnels as we discuss what one has to let go of in order to trust that the crops will grow in our creative fields. We talk about Lou's inspiring journey and how she is always aiming to draw from the energy of a greater consciousness than that of the individual. This is a truly inspiring chat with one of my favourite singers/songwriters/creatives on the planet.
What is home? What does that word mean to you? Is it a place? A person? A feeling? Jo caught up with Lou Rhodes - one half of Lamb this week to chat about how Lou changed he plans from moving to Portugal after Lock down after falling back in Love with her own HOME. She also tells Jo how she goes through her "metamorphosis" to become her stage alter ego as part of the band. She and Andy both practice Yoga on tour to stay grounded and Lou admits yoga is part of her morning routine, right before she plays Piano over coffee, as she taught herself to play during lockdwon. Lou also confesses as an introvert, she has become much more so since lockdown, but has used her time to be creative and enjoy her space in the North of England. Our epsidode begins and end with a live rendition of To Build a Home, by the Cinematic Orchestra, which caught Jo's attention, during lockdown, when Lou posted a cover version on Youtube. In that moment, miles away from her own home in India, it struck a special chord and the pair, discuss the feelings home creates, but also how we can find home in others while away.... www.theresetrebel.com Instagram - @theresetrebel Lamb official website : https://lambofficial.com/

On this edition of Autoline EXTRA John McElroy talks with the man in charge of ENVI, Chrysler’s electric vehicle program, Lou Rhodes and also with Global Electric Motorcars CEO, Bruce Coventry. They discuss Chrysler’s plans to demo the EV’s with retailers and consumers next year and also what benefits GEM can provide Chrysler from its experience selling neighborhood electrics.
Watt's Next? Even as oil prices continue to drop, everyone from consumers to the cognoscenti understand that the genie is finally out of the bottle: fossil fuels are not the future. The question becomes, what is? We all know the roulette wheel of options, but at this point everything is a gamble and manufacturers are wondering where to put their chips. Well Chrysler, which has been quiet up to now, is betting on electric which some consider a surprise. Despite the fact that for more than a decade it has owned an electric car unit that builds neighborhood vehicles, the company sent shock waves through the industry when it recently unveiled three electric prototypes. That's because few experts considered Chrysler a major player in the electric game. Joining John McElroy on this week's Autoline are the two men leading the electrical charge at Chrysler. Lou Rhodes is the President of ENVI, a special team within the company that oversees the R & D of alternative drivetrains, while Bruce Coventry is the CEO of GEM, the makers of those neighborhood electric vehicles. Among the topics these executives tackle are Chrysler's electric strategy, the models and options they're working on, and when they expect it all to be delivered.
