Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Tony, Katie and Alexis. This week we were supposed to have Ryan Kehoe on as a special guest but he was a sleepy girl so we will have him on in the next couple weeks to help breakdown all the behind the scenes stuff we don't get to see but he gets to hear from all his Challenge besties. To kick this episode off we discuss the opening photo purge scene and why that one was chosen to promote this episode, Michele refusing to target Josh, massive editing mistakes, Cara giving flowers to other top tier female competitors around her and Rachel continues going after every guy in the house behind Johnny Bananas' back. We also debate whether or not the mini final is truly a staple of The Challenge, how the pentalty for Theo SHOULD have been handled, and how did they keep from losing their keys in the sand while digging?! Next we debate whether or not this mini final was a good measuring stick for seeing how people might perform in the final, how we felt about timing out on stage 1 of the mini final, and if Jordan happens to get his 5th win during his 10th season, would his win ratio percentage make him the undisputed GOAT of The Challenge? We also discuss whether or not Laurel should be removed from the MT Rushmore discussion after quitting this mini final, Theo requesting Jordan over Bananas, whether or not we believe there was ever a chance Tori would send in Jordan over Bananas, nomination breakdown and are Cara and Tori seriously hanging out in the same room and talking to each other civilly?! Lastly we break down the elimination including what we hated about it and how we would have fixed it. Then we close out by discussing the new targets, Josh and Michele's fight in the elimination arena, Laurel betraying Bananas in the Karma Points, episode grades, MVP's line of the night and so much more! All this now available on The Challenge Fandom Podcast, full video available over on YouTube! Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Tony, Katie and Alexis. This week we are recapping MTV's The Challenge season 40 "Battle of the Eras" episode 7 "Trust In Your Era". We have a short little intro this week so if you'd like to skip it and get right into the Challenge talk skip to 11:08. We kick off the episode by giving it an overall grade and discussing our favorite part of the entire episode. Then we break into Nehemiah turning down Rachel, Devin's entire birthday party breakdown, how we felt about the daily including parts we thought were unfair, the issues we saw and the things we really loved. Next we debate whether or not club scenes are necessary, Michele vs Tina and is Era 1 showcasing a bit of entitlement? We also debate whether or not Devin should have still offered to nominate himself, what the best strategy for Nia and Jordan would be, how we felt about the way Nia delivered the news to Tina and what part of this argument are we absolutely sick of?! We also break down the Bananas and Ryan disagreement and debate whether or not social games are equivalent to athletic games. Next we break into the elimination with our overarching thoughts, what surprised us most, team number updates, new targets and MVPs of the episode. You know those books that catch a moment? Jennie Godfrey's The List of Suspicious Things is one of those happening right now. It's a heart-warming tale of friendship immersed in late 1970s Yorkshire, where everyday life is overshadowed and ever-changed by the news of a serial killer at large. Jennie shares how there were early questions about writing the Yorkshire accent into her characters' speech, but that her agent and publisher championed the ‘localness' of the story. Depending on your age, you'll either be heartened by the references to Kerplunk and swarfega, or fascinated by this as a piece of historical fiction (we won't judge either way!). Plus Jennie shares her remarkable and well-earned tale behind the scenes to getting published, and having the confidence to follow a writerly dream. Thanks so much for listening - Bestsellers is an independent podcast so if you are able to support the production by buying a metaphorical cuppa on ko-fi, support is always appreciated!https://ko-fi.com/bestsellerspodcast Hosted on Acast. fWotD Episode 2484: Dookie Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Thursday, 22 February 2024 is Dookie.Dookie is the third studio album by the American rock band Green Day, released on February 1, 1994, by Reprise Records. The band's major label debut and first collaboration with producer Rob Cavallo, it was recorded in mid-1993 at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. Written mostly by frontman and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, the album is heavily based around his personal experiences, with themes such as boredom, anxiety, relationships, and sexuality. The album was promoted with four singles: "Longview", "Basket Case", a re-recorded version of "Welcome to Paradise" (which originally appeared on the band's second studio album, 1991's Kerplunk), and "When I Come Around".After several years of grunge's dominance in popular music, Dookie brought a livelier, more melodic rock sound to the mainstream, and propelled Green Day to worldwide fame. Considered one of the defining albums of the 1990s and punk rock in general, it was also pivotal in solidifying the genre's mainstream popularity. Its influence permeated into the new millennium and beyond, being cited as an inspiration by many punk and pop-punk bands, as well as artists from other genres.Though the band was labeled a sell-out by some of their original fans for leaving their independent label, Lookout! Records and embracing a more polished sound, Dookie received critical acclaim upon its release. The record won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 1995. It was also a worldwide success, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 in the United States and reaching top ten positions in several other countries. It was later certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best-selling album and one of the best-selling albums worldwide. It has been labeled by critics and journalists as one of the greatest albums of the 1990s and one of the greatest punk rock and pop-punk albums of all time; Rolling Stone placed Dookie on three iterations of their "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list, and at number 1 on their "50 Greatest Pop-Punk Albums" list. In August 2023, it was announced that a 30th anniversary deluxe edition of the album would be released on September 29, 2023, featuring outtakes, demos, and two live concert recordings. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:01 UTC on Thursday, 22 February 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Dookie on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Matthew Standard.

Green Day is a punk band from the East Bay in California. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool have been playing music together since 1987. They've sold over 90 million records. They've won four Grammys, including twice for Best Rock Album. They put out their first album in 1990, and their second album, Kerplunk!, in 1991. And then, they moved to a major label and in 1994 they put out their third album, Dookie, which was huge. It helped bring punk into the mainstream. And this month is its 30th anniversary. So for this episode, I talked to Billie Joe Armstrong about the making of one of Green Day's biggest hits of all time: “Basket Case." Coming up, you'll also hear from Rob Cavallo, who produced the album. Plus, you'll hear two different demo versions of “Basket Case,” the first of which is basically a totally different song. Billie Joe Amstrong traces the history of “Basket Case,” from its origins as a cassette recording in a punk basement, all the way to becoming a song that helped define an era of music.
