This weekend's Super Bowl LVI comes as the NFL is being sued by Brian Flores, a former head coach of the Miami Dolphins who has accused the league racial discrimination in hiring practices. To discuss the lawsuit and racism in the NFL, we're joined by Tyler Tynes, a staff writer for GQ who covers the intersection between race, politics, and sports. The nominees for the 94th Academy Awards were announced yesterday and Netflix's "Don't Look Up" is up for Best Picture. The climate change satire has been a huge hit for Netflix, though the critical response to it has been more mixed. David Sirota, who co-wrote the screenplay, joins us to talk about the movie and how the climate catastrophe gets covered in media. And in headlines: a new Freedom Convoy blockade emerged at the U.S.-Canadian border, Peng Shuai spoke to reporters in her first sit-down interview since last year, and federal agents arrested a couple for conspiring to launder $4.5 billion in stolen cryptocurrency. In the season 3 premiere we look at the most controversial movie of 2021, Netflix's Don't Look Up. Directed by Adam McKay and a star-studded cast this movie has got everyone talking, and often yelling, about their opinions. This sentiment is paralleled in the plot of this movie! Sjoe... Back to work hey? Are you guys as tired as we are? Jee wizz take us back to the pool! Anywho, whether we're tired or hyped up on energy drinks we'll deliver! We get straight into the private and public beef involving Dwayne and Vin and Ross takes some time to not tummy-shame Vin Diesel. We discuss our surprise that Mr Bones 3 is happening and think about our own history with Leon's films. Joss Whedon makes the unwise choice to highlight the extent of his doesch-ness by doing an interview (he mentions his mother's sexiness). Abi gives us producer-face when we discuss getting piercings and we give a big update on Black Panther 2. Bladdie Letitia is still being stubborn and Jody shares a Marvel (conspiracy) theory. Ross gets a phone call and reminds us what Disney's real views are about representation. Insurance adjusting work is heavily reliant on and influenced by weather events. This is why it is so important to discuss climate change. The discussion within the Adjuster community is extremely politicized, but this week's episode keeps a non-partisan tone to share the facts and what this means for you as an Adjuster. Jeremy Rettig brings on fellow podcast host, Ethan Brown, to discuss the reality of what we are living through, what we can expect moving forward, and what we can do to make a difference. The two cover everything from solar power to flat earth to Netflix's Don't Look Up. Listening to Ethan Brown is the most fun you've ever going to have learning about environmental issues. Ethan hosts the PBS podcast The Sweaty Penguin, a comedy-style podcast that cuts through the noise and the doom-and-gloom of the climate conversation. Sometimes, climate change IS a laughing matter. What You Will Learn: What do these correlated extreme weather events mean The importance of understanding both sides of the environmental issue Having constructive conversations about climate with those who disagree with your perspective Could you really set off a missile to stop a natural disaster Resources: https://thesweatypenguin.com

The film invites us to answer an all-important question: How will I respond? The answer is for each of us to do the responsible and constructive thing, each in our own way. It requires us to do both of those things now — before the proverbial comet hits.

The new film Don't Look Up, a climate change allegory starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, became a hit for Netflix. But why is it dividing critics so intensely? And Showtime's Yellowjackets and HBO's Station Eleven are the most buzzy shows out right now. They're also really dark. Are we finally ready to have our grim reality reflected in our TV? In this week's Drop It In The Group Chat we talk bell hook's and All About Love, Betty White and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Insecure, plus, Joan Didion and Slouching Towards Bethlehem. The Special Ladies continue going in HARD on not only "And Just Like That" but Carrie Bradshaw in general. They also discuss Netflix's "Don't Look Up" and have a HUGE fight (involving Jon) about "Licorice Pizza." Plus oh so much more!
Netflix has successfully created content that's received attention from the Academy Awards before, so this time they shot for the stars! That's a pun! Because this movie is about space trying to kill us, and it's loaded with movie stars! The Film School Janitors watched DON'T LOOK UP, and these are their thoughts about the satire that might ring a little too true to real life right now.

Netflix's new star-studded film, 'Don't Look Up,' is one of the most extraordinarily accurate pieces of social satire I've seen in a very long time. Reflecting real world issues of politics, capitalism, climate change and celebrity culture - 'Don't Look Up' offers an uncomfortable but hilarious satirical look at modern society.
