For the past decade, The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada, has partnered with leading neuroscientists to develop an early childhood education program that uses music to strengthen the cognitive foundations of lifelong learning. Designed for children from six months to four years old, this innovative approach nurtures essential learning skills through the power of music and integrates technology to prepare future-ready minds. On October 31, 2025, The Royal Conservatory of Music will host the global launch of Smart Starts, a groundbreaking program that brings together experts in music, cognitive development, and technology to redefine early childhood education. I am looking forward to attending this symposium, called Music and the Mind, which will be packed with incredible speakers, and in the next episode will feature highlights from that day. In this episode, my guest — the CEO and President of the RCM — joins me to discuss lifelong learning, the importance of creativity, the intersection of artistic and artificial intelligence, and the vision behind Smart Starts. Alexander Brose is the President & CEO of The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Toronto, Canada. Before joining RCM, he was the inaugural Executive Director and CEO of the Tianjin Juilliard School in China, The Juilliard School in New York City's first and only branch campus. There, he worked closely with colleagues both in Tianjin and New York to create an inclusive and supportive institutional culture that upheld the educational and artistic excellence of Juilliard and respected the surrounding influences of China. Prior to that, he was the Vice President for Development at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, where he was responsible for all fund-raising and strategic relationship-building activities, raising US$75M as part of a capital campaign, and working with AMFS leadership to create a new strategic vision for the organization. Mr. Brose began his career spanning a decade in senior management roles at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in California, including Director of Admissions and Associate Vice President for Advancement. Raised in South Korea, Hong Kong, and the United States, Mr. Brose received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies, with a concentration in China, from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. An award-winning vocalist, Mr. Brose has performed in prestigious concert venues across the globe, including on the U.S. nationally-syndicated radio show “A Prairie Home Companion,” at the Seoul National Arts Center in South Korea, with the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, N.Y., and with the Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus, among others. He has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Recording Academy (Grammys) in the United States and the American Chamber of Commerce in China. He currently sits on the advisory councils of the Cornell University Glee Club, the school's oldest student organization, as well as the Tianjin Juilliard School. A sought-after public speaker, Mr. Brose has presented at major arts conferences and universities in both the U.S. and China. Chrisian Brose is the Chief Strategy Officer at Anduril Industries. He's been at the forefront of the debate about how America needs to change in order to win a future war against a high-tech adversary like China. He's the former staff director for the Senate Armed Services Committee and the author of the essential book, The Kill Chain: Defending America in the Future of High-Tech Warfare. We discuss: Why the U.S remains dangerously vulnerable to low-cost drone attacks and what it would take to get serious about defending the homeland, How bureaucratic logjams and budget dysfunction stall America's adoption of counter-drone and other critical defenses, What the Ukraine war reveals about the future of warfare and what the US has yet to learn from it, Why confidence in American technological superiority is misplaced, and why state-of-the-art weapons may not guarantee a quick or decisive war, How humans will make military decisions in the age of AI. Newt talks with Chris Ambrose, President and Chief Strategy Officer of Anduril, a U.S. based company revolutionizing military capabilities with advanced technology for the United States and allied forces. Unlike traditional defense contractors, Anduril rapidly develops and deploys cutting-edge technology by privately funding research and selling ready-to-use products, significantly reducing costs and time. Brose discusses the company's approach to scalable production, drawing parallels to commercial manufacturing exemplified by companies like Tesla. A key highlight is the Ghost Shark project with the Royal Australian Navy, an autonomous undersea vehicle developed in collaboration with Australia, showcasing a successful co-investment model and rapid production timeline. Their conversation also covers the implications of autonomous systems in warfare, the potential for scaling production to enhance military capabilities, as well as the importance of evolving defense strategies to meet future challenges.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What is up Brose? We made it to the end of the season and the last 30 minutes of the season was the best half hour of this entire season. In this episode, Grant has fallen in love with Juliana AND Litia. After both ladies meet Grant's family, the decision is coming down to is Juliana ready for love? Is Litia's timeline negotiable? After the one on one time with both ladies, Juliana finally says 'I love you'. Its important to mention that throughout this episode, Litia is exuding complete confidence. It makes much more sense why by the end of the episode. It looked like Litia had it in the bag up until the very end... After telling Litia shes not the one, her reaction was not what we expected. During her one on one with Jesse Palmer, it becomes much more evident why she was so confident. Apparently throughout filming, Grant said A LOT off camera. Such as 'youre the one we should just end the show now" and buying her a journal to write her thoughts and feelings down so they could read it together at the end of the show... Litia brings her receipts to the finale and what couldve been a great moment for Juliana and Grant, turns into Grant being held accountable for some questionable moves throughout the show... Whats up Brose? We're getting down to the finals here at The Bachelor and only Litia, Juliana and Zoe remain. In this episode, Juliana and Grant continue to grow their relationship and at this juncture, appears to be genuine and organic. Zoe still feels like she is a ways behind the other two contestants as far as her relationship with Grant goes. She gets shafted again when her activity with Grant is a 1 on 1 silent yoga session... Litia is stressed about the Fantasy Suite's because due to her religion she doesn't want to get intimate with Grant. Overall, this was one of the better episodes of the season. It appears that two of the three ladies have a real connection with Grant and there is one contestant on the outside looking in. It all comes down to next week. Who did enough to seal their spot in the final? This episode is brought to you by Wayfair. Need to revamp your furniture or decor this spring? Look no further than wayfair.com for all of your needs! What's up Brose? It's hometowns week on the Bachelor. Juliana introduces Grant to the whole family, extended included up in Boston. He makes a solid impression on the whole crew and it's clear that he and Juliana have definitely firmed up their connection during this date. Zoe brings Grant to New York to meet her "chosen family" but he does not get to meet her adopted parents due to a strained relationship. But meeting the aunt and uncle and sister goes well. While it appears they do not have the deepest connection, something about Zoe has Grant enamored. We just would like to see her open up just a lillllllll bit more but her and Grant have certainly come a long way. Litia and her big Mormon family are more than welcoming to Grant. Hopefully settling any nerves he had as far as how they would accept him given he is not Mormon. We both agree that as of now, Litia is the frontrunner, but that may change at fantasy suites due to her religion. How will Grant's potential nights with the other ladies effect their relationship? Poor Dina is left out to dry by her family. As a Pastor and a Deacon, her father refuses to have the family meet Grant because they can't get on board for the dynamic of this show. While this is easily the most realistic response, for the show and for Dina's journey, this was not a favorable outcome. Who will get the roses and head towards the final? Next week is our favorite episode, the Tell All and we cannot wait. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
