Looking back on 2025, it's tempting to think it was just another noisy year that blurred into the background. But once you slow down and actually line up the events, a very different picture emerges. Conflict intensified, political power shifted, markets absorbed shocks that once would have caused panic, and several long-running assumptions about global leadership were quietly challenged. This episode is our annual predictions review, where Paul puts last year's calls back on the table and we assess how they actually played out. We walk through economic growth, inflation, interest rates, housing, global markets, geopolitics, and asset prices. You'll have to tune in to find out how he did. From there, Paul lays out his 2026 predictions, explaining how the forces that defined 2025 are likely to evolve rather than disappear. We talk about rising geopolitical tension, the shifting balance between the U.S. and China, ongoing conflict risk, and what all of this could mean for growth, inflation, and markets in the year ahead. It's less about bold claims and more about understanding the range of scenarios we're walking into and why 2026 may not look like a repeat of the year we've just left behind.Episode Highlights: A lot of weird things can happen when you work in a retail store. You can ask anyone who's worked retail for a while, and they will have some stories. My daughter worked at a popular clothing store for a while here in Florida. She worked mostly around the fitting rooms. And she was constantly amazed – and annoyed – at the things people would do in those little rooms where you try on clothes. Oh yeah, some people would just leave the place a big mess. But there were other customers who took it a step further – and whatever you're imagining right now, you're probably correct. But what if you're working in a retail environment, just a regular day, and you turn around and see a man with a gun pointed at you? How do you think you would react? Jen knows exactly what she would do, because that's exactly what happened to her one day at work. Jen told this story on the podcast more than 3 years ago, which means this is a Flashback episode. After you hear her story, I'll play a brief conversation I had with Jen just recently about what's going on with her these days. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell have learned over the years that taking a week off from True Sunlight means only one thing: the Good Ole Boys will go back to Good Ole Boying. And last week we had mostly good things, starting with people's love for “Murdaugh: Death in the Family.” The series is a No. 1 hit on Hulu or Hulu on Disney+, and the Official Companion Podcast, as well as True Sunlight and event the legacy feed of remastered Murdaugh Murders Podcasts, are all burning through the charts. Woo-hoo!!! On today's episode, Mandy and Liz look at South Carolina Alan Wilson's decision to finally hand over the Scott Spivey/Horry County Police Department Corruption case to a special prosecutor. It's an interesting decision from a man whose office told the Spivey family they couldn't ethically or legally charge Weldon Boyd and Bradley Williams for Scott's death. Plus, an update on Charleston County Magistrate Judge James “Skipper” Gosnell's child sexual abuse material case. And it's been almost four weeks since Squires held local teenagers at gunpoint in a terrifying display of police misconduct and, according to sources, the SLED investigation is finished. So what's the hold up? Finally, an update in the (48:16) Jane Doe No. 2 case accusing Wayne Miller of following her home. So much to cover, so let's dive in!

Congratulations on making it through another week and half way through 2025. This week's episode is a bit of a throwback. If you don't remember or are new here, in January I laid out my top 10 realistic predictions for where AI, emerging tech, and the world of work were heading in 2025. I committed to circling back mid-year, and despite my shock at how quick it came, we've hit the halfway point, so it's time to revisit where things actually stand. If you didn't catch the original, I'd highly recommend checking it out. Now, some predictions have held surprisingly steady. Others have gone in directions I didn't fully anticipate or have escalated much faster than expected. And, I added a few new trends that weren't even on my radar in January but are quickly becoming noteworthy. With that, here's how this week's episode is structured:⸻Revisiting My 10 Original PredictionsIn this first section, I walk through the 10 predictions I made at the start of the year and update where each one stands today. From AI's emotional mimicry and growing trust risks, to deepfake normalization, to widespread job cuts justified by AI adoption, this section is a gut check. Some of the most popular narratives around AI, including the push for return-to-office policies, the role of AI in redefining skills, and the myth of “flattening” capability growth, are playing out in unexpected ways.⸻Pressing Issues I'd Add NowThese next five trends didn't make the original list, but based on what's unfolded this year, they should have. I cover the growing militarization of AI and the uncomfortable questions it raises around autonomy and decision-making in defense. I get into the overlooked environmental impact of large-scale AI adoption, from energy and water consumption to data center strain. I talk about how organizational AI use is quietly becoming a liability as more teams build black box dependencies no one can fully track or explain.⸻Early Trends to WatchThe last section takes a look at signals I'm keeping an eye on, even if they're not critical just yet. Think wearable AI, humanoid robotics, and the growing gap between tool access and human capability. Each of these has the potential to reshape our understanding of human-AI interaction, but for now, they remain on the edge of broader adoption. These are the areas where I'm asking questions, paying attention to signals, and anticipating where we might need to be ready to act before the headlines catch up.⸻If this episode was helpful, would you share it with someone? Also, leave a rating, drop a comment, and follow for future breakdowns that go beyond the headlines and help you lead with clarity in the AI age.—Show Notes:In this mid-year check-in, Christopher revisits his original 2025 predictions and reflects on what's played out, what's accelerated, and what's emerging. From AI dependency and widespread job displacement to growing ethical concerns and overlooked operational risks, this extended update brings a no-spin, executive-level perspective on what leaders need to be watching now.—Timestamps:00:00 – Introduction00:55 - Revisiting 2025 Predictions02:46 - AI's Emotional Nature: A Double-Edged Sword06:27 - Deepfakes: Crisis Levels and Public Skepticism12:01 - AI Dependency and Mental Health Concerns16:29 - Broader AI Adoption and Capability Growth23:11 - Automation and Unemployment29:46 - Polarization of Return to Office36:00 - Reimagining Job Roles in the Age of AI39:23 - The Slow Adoption of AI in the Workplace40:23 - Exponential Complexity in Cybersecurity42:29 - The Struggle for Personal Data Privacy47:44 - The Growing Need for Purpose in Work50:49 - Emerging Issues: Militarization and AI Dependency56:55 - Environmental Concerns and AI Polarization01:04:02 - Impact of AI on Children and Future Trends01:08:43 - Final Thoughts and Upcoming Updates—#AIPredictions #AI2025 #AIstrategy #AIethics #DigitalLeadership

Have you ever thought about your soul's purpose? What is it you're meant to do in this world, and how to get there? Is there a relationship between our purpose and the lessons we learn along the way? Today we discuss the relationship between two major life concepts that push and pull us through life. Dharma, our soul purpose. And Karma, the balancing of our scales as we work to reach our soul's purpose. How is it that these concepts integrate into our lives, and how can we work to better understand them? TRIGGER WARNING: This episode/blog contains a story about (gun) violence which may be triggering to survivors. Many years ago, my husband and I were held up at gunpoint. I have mentioned it before, but I have never shared the full story because it was traumatic. When one of you asked me to share this experience, how it impacted my life, and how I recovered from it, I thought it might be time to share. By sharing my story of trauma and recovery, I hope to help others who have experienced a traumatic event. Read the show notes for today's episode at terricole.com/546
