Episode 100 Bethany Markowski In March, 2001 eleven year old Bethany Markowski vanished in Tennessee while on a visit with her father Larry. Larry and Bethany's mom Jonnie had recently split up after a volatile relationship amidst allegations of abuse on Larry's part towards Jonnie. Jonnie had fled her home with few belongings, alongside Bethany hoping that they could get away from Larry. Eventually, Larry caught up with them, and a protection order was put in place. Since Larry had never abused Bethany, he had visitation rights, and Bethany would spend weekends with him. But on just the second visit with her father, Bethany vanished. On Sunday, March 4th, 2001, Larry was supposed to drop off Bethany after their visit. According to Larry, he stopped at the Old Hickory shopping mall in Jackson, TN so that Bethany could go inside and pick up a few things. Larry claims that after not returning for a period of time, he went into the mall to find his daughter, but he never did. Witnesses backed up Larry's story that he was in the mall that day, but none of those witnesses saw Bethany, and she hasn't been seen since. Since she vanished, Larry has reportedly failed polygraph tests, and has stopped cooperating with police. He has never been charged in the case and denies any involvement in his daughter's disappearance. In this episode, Bethany's mom Jonnie discusses her daughter's disappearance as well as possible sightings of Bethany. At the time of her disappearance, Bethany was 4'8'' and weighed 95 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. Less than one year ago, on Thursday June 15th, 2023 in small town Marion county a home was up in flames. Sequatchie is only home to about 600 people, but neighbors recall hearing glass breaking and loud pops around 8 pm that slow summer night and by 9 pm police were called to the scene of a house fire at the 200 block of Pine Street. As firefighters put out the blaze, investigators enter the scene and find pure horror. 3 adults were dead along with 3 children and one other man who was still alive but had suffered 3 gun shot wounds. He was later airlifted with life force to a Chattanooga hospital.Gary and Regina were married and living together in 2020, which is when this horrible story starts. Regina had an adult daughter, Brittnee, a mother of three children. The couple had a very intense relationship, with calls from neighbors reporting them fighting, domestic violence calls and stories of abuse from friends and family. Neighbor, Noah Simmons recalls breaking up fights between Gary and Regina and remembers them going tit for tat. That same year Regina filed a domestic assault report against Gary claiming her husband had 50-60 guns. Another report from Regina says she was afraid for her life because she thought her estranged husband would get drunk and kill her. Regina then files a restraining order, in May of 2023 against Gary and a judge orders them no contact. That same time Regina's daughter Brittnee was being proposed to on May 29th. Soon after that Brittnee's fiancé moves in with Brittnee, her three kids and her mom.On June 15th, 2023 Gary would arrive at Regina's home. He would then shoot and kill Regina and Britnee and maybe one of her children. Of her three kids, at least one was found with a gun shot wound. The other two kids may have died from smoke insolation. Gary was also found with a self inflicted gun shot wound. Police believe Gary went there for revenge on his estranged wife, killing her, her daughter and her daughter's 3 children. Aaron was a month into his new life at Regina's house as a finance and stepdad before all of his dreams would literally come burning down around him. Police believe Gary lost it, drove to his wife's house where he broke in and killed her. In his rage he ends up killing Brittnee, shooting Brittnee's finance Aaron and killing all of her children,. Gary then decided to set the house on fire before killing himself. The investigation is still fresh and more information is sure to come out. We were able to talk to Aaron's cousin AJ about the incident. AJ is an expired follower and she wants to make sure we get the information correct. Episode 86 Doe: ID 'Cheatham Jane Doe' Linda Karnes In October, 1981, skeletal remains were found by hunters at an old landfill in Cheatham County, Tennessee  on Highway 249 in Ashland City.  Forensic anthropologists at the University of Tennessee determined the remains belonged to a young, white female, estimated to be between 14 and 17 years old. She carried no ID, and her arms were missing, presumably taken by scavaging animals, so fingerprinting was not an option. But part of her legs were also missing, and showed signs of being removed with a saw. It was clear to authorities that this young girl, who was dubbed 'Cheatham Jane Doe',  had been a murder victim and they set out to determine who she was and who was responsible for her death.  Decades later, DNA & genealogy would combine to reveal her identity as Linda Sue Karnes, who had spent time as a teenager in the Montgomery County Girls Home in Clarksville not long before her remains were found. Although authorities now know who she is, it's not clear what led to Linda's murder, or who is responsible. Police are still trying to fill in the blanks and are seeking the public's help. Anyone with pertinent details is encouraged to contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND or via email at TipsToTBI@tbi.tn.gov After more four decades, 'Cheatham County Jane Doe' has her name back, it's Linda Sue Karnes, and this is her story.   To listen to every episode of DNA: ID ad-free and get other benefits, simply  visit our channel page on Apple Podcasts to get started with an AbJack Insider subscription. In the summer of 2003, Jennifer Wix, a 20-year-old mother of one, was living with her aunt when she started dating Joey Benton. At first, Jennifer was excited for her new relationship. But things quickly went downhill - Joey was controlling, mean, and violent. The relationship was unstable, and they would often break up then get back together again.    By March of 2004, Jennifer and her baby Adrianna were living with Joey and his parents out on their rural northern Tennessee property. Jennifer's family was worried about the safety of Jennifer and Adrianna, Jennifer assured them everything would be okay. But everything wasn't okay. Jennifer was having serious issues with Joey and his parents.   On March 24, Jennifer called her mom Kathy to tell her about all the horrible things she'd been going through lately. She said it was clear Joey's family didn't want her or Adrianna to stay with them. Their behavior and attitude toward her had escalated and she was scared.    Kathy asked if she could come pick up Jennifer and Adrianna, but Jennifer said no. She would take care of it. Before they got off the phone, Jennifer said she'd call Kathy the next day. But Kathy never heard from Jennifer, or Adrianna, again.    This is the case of Jennifer and Adrianna Wix.   21-year-old Jennifer and two-year-old Adrianna were last heard from on March 25, 2004. It's believed they went missing from Cross Plains, Tennessee. Jennifer is a white woman with brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was 5'4” - 5'6”, 125-135 pounds. Her brown hair had red highlights, and she wore silver oval shaped glasses. She has a tribal tattoo on her lower back. Her ears are pierced twice, and her tongue is pierced once.    At the time of her disappearance, Adrianna was 3'5”, 25 pounds. She is a white girl with brown hair and blue/green eyes. She has a birthmark on the front of her upper right thigh. She may go by the nickname Nina.    Anyone with information is asked to contact the Robertson County Sheriff's Office at 615-384-7971, submit a tip on the Robertson County Sheriff's Office website, or call the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
