When one partner shows signs of low grade depression, it can sometimes be hard to know how to effectively provide support. If left unaddressed, not only is there an “elephant in the room” but it also can leave unintended negative impacts on the relationship. Often, depression can be viewed as a “problem” that's usually left up to the person who is experiencing the depression to figure out how to overcome it. Our view is that this approach is ineffective. In this episode we share a myriad of perspectives, causes, and solutions to support the couple to effectively navigate when one partner is experiencing symptoms of depression.In this episode, we frame low grade depression as something that is a normal part of being human. We illustrate contributing factors that can affect a sense of fulfillment and joy, including the gut-brain connection, unhealthy habits, mis-alignment with values, and toxic environments. Episode 5: Great interviewers were made, not born. It takes practice, work, and experience. I'm listing resources that helped me prepare to launch my podcast. It's worth mentioning that there's not one best way to this. Interviewing is an art. I encourage you to find your voice and an approach that works best for you. Then, lean into it. My quest to become a better interviewer is ongoing, and I'm always learning. I've created my own master class on conducting interviews by reading, listening, and watching everything that I can find to hone my skills. Whether you are a podcaster, want to be a better conversationalist, or aim to ace your next job interview, these resources can help you. Be PreparedI've heard people say that they want their podcast to be natural and conversational so they do not want to over prepare or prepare at all. IMHO, the greatest interviewers make it look easy and natural. One thing they have in common is preparation. This can come in varying degrees that includes reading books or articles, listening to existing interviews, and reviewing a guest's social media accounts. Once you've done your homework, set a plan. Have an idea where you want to go. You are competing for your audience's attention. In response, you need to create the best content possible and preparation plays an important role in doing that. Be PresentStriving to be a better interviewer is really a set of guidelines because there is no one-size-fits all approach. Rather, there are many approaches and it is highly individualistic. For example, James Lipton, the creator, executive-producer, writer and host of Inside the Actors Studio, typically had a list of scripted questions. Nobody can contest his success with the 94 million American homes that he reached. Find your own approach, do your prep, and then, let it go. I believe in letting it go. Being in the moment is what translates into delivering a "natural" interview. By letting go of all the research that you did, you are well prepared yet free to be present, listen, and flexible to allow the interview to change direction -- naturally. Be a Great HostYour job as a host is multi-faceted. First, it's your role to make your guest feel welcome and comfortable. Be gracious and generous. Establish rapport. Push back if needed. Second, never forget that you are responsible for driving the interview so it's important that you maintain control. Allow interesting tangents to happen but appropriately bring the conversation back on topic. Use techniques to get the best tape out of your guests. Ask open ended questions... What, How, and Why. As host, you may share a great story but be concise. Let your guest shine. Your ultimate goal is to bring out the best content for your audience, and nobody knows your audience better than you do. Questions to Ask to Elicit StoryTell me about the time when… Tell me about the day/moment that you realized… Tell me the story of… You're on the right track when people are talking in dialogue (then he said this, she said that…) Describe the conversation when… Tell me the day you realized what we're talking about… What were steps that took you from A to B Things You Should Not DoNever… Ask a Yes or No question. Ask more than one question at a time. Say “…and my next question is…” Be disrespectful to your audience and the person you’re interviewing. Forget who you’re serving. This Simple 30-Minute Personal Finance Exercise Saved Me $342 This Month For many of us, our main goal in business is to make more money, and we're always focusing on what the next item is to buy. What's the next business to start? How can I amplify what I'm already doing? How can I make more money in my business? But don't forget that there are two sides of the coin when it comes to growing your overall net worth and making more money. One side is making more money, but also another side is minimizing expenses, minimizing bills, and saving money where you can. One of the things that I did recently—and this is something you should do periodically, maybe once a month or at least once a quarter—is go through all of my statements. This is just basic personal finance, but I feel it's overlooked because a lot of people are just focused on making more money and never really take a look at reoccurring bills and if they have increased. For example, my bookkeeping service just increased in price, and I may or may not want to keep it. Click To Watch This Video On YouTube... Pay Attention to Bills Do we have subscriptions to stupid things that we don't even use anymore? Maybe it has to do with your business; maybe it's something in your personal life. For example, maybe your phone bill went up or your cable bill went up, and you could renegotiate that. Maybe something got tacked onto one of your bills and you didn't realize it. You got charged something on your credit card and didn't realize it. Once a month, once a quarter, or once a week—whatever that is for you—go through all of your bills. Now, one of the things I've emphasized in the past is making sure that your business and personal finances are separated. So any time you buy something for your business, incur an expense, or gain something in income, it should be separated. Your expenses should be on its own business credit card or at least a credit card that's only for your business. Your income should be coming through only on your business account. Go Through Everything You should be going through every now and then and checking, minimizing, getting rid of, or eliminating bills that are affecting you every single month. If you're getting hit by a bill or getting charged an increased amount, that's taking away from your bottom line. So just make sure to go through every now and then and check all your credit cards, business and personal. Check your bank accounts. Make sure you're not getting charged something you didn't know about. Check your PayPal. Make sure you're not getting something additional or something that you completely forgot about. You've got to make sure to go into your PayPal settings to take a look at your reoccurring subscription fees because these things add up. My Experience I just practiced this exercise the other day, and one thing that I actually did was take a look at the bill for my email provider, ConvertKit. I realized that my bill had gone up substantially, which is because my email subscriber base had grown so much recently. It went up from $230 a month to $350. And then what I did was go in, found all my cold subscribers (people who weren't opening my emails), and sent them a campaign and deleted them. It took my bill from $350 down to $200, so I saved $150 off the bat. Then I eliminated a bunch of apps that I wasn't using on my iPhone Store. I minimized probably a good $400 a month because I decided to stop being lazy and actually go through and look and update things. I also negotiated a couple of things with my cable company and Internet. One More Tip Just make sure to go through and check this out from time to time. We're always so focused on making more money, but we can hold on to more money and grow our net worth if we take care of both sides of the equation, not only focusing on making more money but reducing bills, minimizing bills, eliminating bills,

This is the HIDDEN FORCE that will sweep through the face of the world to conquer Satan's darkness. The Eucharist is the power of God in the world, and God desires to make you living Hosts. a. Live your hidden life as ONE with Me in My hidden life in the Eucharist. i. We have learned that in each moment of our lives, through our situations, problems, places, and people, we can participate in Jesus' hidden life in the Eucharist by trusting and abandoning ourselves to His Will. ii. In section 4-D of The Path, Participation in the Groans of the Sacred Heart, Jesus invites us to enter the intimacy of His groans. 2. Listen to My Groans, #77, Diary of a MOC (p. 225) Can you hear My groans that come forth from the depth of My Crucified Heart? The groans of My agony of love. Listen to My groans of love. a. This question is an invitation from the Lord to bring us deeper into His Sacred Heart. Jesus asks us to listen to His groans. What are those groans? How can we hear them? Are they audible? 3. Mt 13:13 ‘they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand. a. Entering the groans of our Lord is a process. First, the Lord taught us in the Path to unite our wounds to His, our pain to His, our tears to His… to suffer ALL with Him as one in His sacrifice of love. This SIMPLE process brings us to know the pain of our Lord, and through His pain, to know His love personally. You can compare this process to the transformation of the caterpillar into a butterfly. The caterpillar is constrained to seeing life around him to just the tiny space it lives in. He can't see very far nor hear much either. That is how we are when we live constrained in our wounds. Inside the dark pit of our wound, our sight is clouded and our hearing limited. We can't seem to see beyond ourselves. Our world is all centered on self. When we enter Jesus' wounds, it is as the caterpillar entering the cocoon. Through His wounds, we are immersed into the cocoon of His Sacred Heart, and just as the caterpillar is not conscious of the transformation taking place, we cannot fully perceive the subtle work of the Spirit transforming our minds, sight, hearing, and heart. b. This process of suffering with Christ gradually and unperceivably begins to transform our entire being. We start to hear and see our own hearts with the eyes of God through the gift of self-knowledge. We begin to perceive our own groans as we WAIT, like the caterpillar, with PATIENCE, TRUST, and HOPE, for our redemption—our transformation into Love. We see our weakness, woundedness, sins, misery… It's the groans of our souls that desire to be holy —redeemed in the image and likeness of God to participate in the glory of God here on earth— no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me. Yet, daily we are confronted with our pride, vanity, and lack of trust in God who has loved us to the extreme of the Cross.
