James Henley Thornwell - Antinomianism (1840) . . . Thornwell was one of the most influential theologians in the 19th century American Presbyterian Church. This little piece was an appendix to a reprint of Robert Traill's classic work on justification, which Thornwell published as a tract. In it, Thornwell shows how the gospel is opposed to both legalism and lawlessness, and how justification and sanctification are linked together in the plan of salvation.

Join the Smarter Parenting Club. https://club.smarterparenting.com/ In Episode 61, ADHD Parenting Coach, Siope Kinikini talks with Kurt Furnham from Thornwell in South Carolina about how he teaches the behavior skill of Following Instructions and the importance of Following Instructions. Thornwell is part of the Teaching-Family Association and uses the Teaching-Family Model in their residential and in-home programs. In all of the Teaching-Family Association programs, teaching Following Instructions will be one of the first skills a child or family learn. If a child is not able to Follow Instructions, they will not be successful with the other behavior skills as all include an element of Following Instructions. Getting kids to Follow Instructions seems is essential as they will use this skill for their whole life. They will use it when they cook a recipe, assemble a piece of furniture, do a project at work, or go through airport security. Once mastered Following Instructions become a regular part of our day. Kurt Fulhman talks about what he has found to be successful in teaching Following Instructions to dysfunctional populations. His first recommendation is to make it part of the daily routine and daily expectations. Following Instructions can be incorporated into chores, schedules, family traditions, meals, homework, etc. Even getting dressed can involve Following Instructions. Creating daily routines that include Following Instructions will decrease frustration and increase closeness. Second, when incorporating Following Instructions into your daily routine, don’t make it too complicated. Start with small tasks and by giving short instructions. When a child has mastered that, continue to add additional jobs and directions. Third, children who have never had to Follow Instructions may want to power struggle or argue. The advice: disengage until they can follow the instructions. Disengaging will allowing them to see the importance of Following Instructions and that Following Instructions benefits them. The long-awaited return of Sindarius Thornwell saw the South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball team do something it hasn’t done since, like, before Crying Jordan: beat the University of Georgia in a basketball game. The team showcased their powerhouse defense, and held the Bulldogs’ to just 3 baskets from beyond the arc; it was exactly the way a Frank Martin team is designed to play. They followed that up with a come-from-behind victory in College Station against a very solid Texas A&M Aggies side that shot an eye-popping 67 percent from the floor in the first half. It’s safe to say that the Gamecocks are playing much better with the return of their stalwart guard, but just what does Thornwell’s presence mean for the team besides just being arguably the best player on the team? How does his return affect the Gamecocks still-alive NCAA Tournament hopes? What does the team need to do to realize those dreams? Have no fear, your favorite podcast is back to tackle all of the issues with takes just hot enough to avoid a bench clearing brawl. This week, besides our look into the men’s basketball team and their path through the SEC and into March, we take a look at the rumored-to-be newest member of the football coaching staff: Eric Wolford. You may remember him from his previous stint in Columbia, where he was the OLine coach and running game coordinator before leaving to be the head coach at Youngstown State. We speculate on his ability to recruit, develop, and manage talent, and pray that things cannot possibly get any worse and, therefore, can only get better from here. We also discuss how to prepare for a Clemson National Championship win over Alabama, define what’s needed for football to continue it’s return to success, and much much more. Sidenote: GET WELL SOON, A’JA WILSON. We hope to find out more about her ankle injury today.
