INTRO:I'm Hank, a nineteen year podcasting veteran, filmmaker, and YouTuber, and this is my review of Disney's Tron: Ares. This is a spoiler-filled review of the movie so if that's not your cup of tea this review won't be for you. Note: I saw this movie in 3D and I have never seen Tron: Legacy. I'm neither a Tron fan nor do I know much about the lore.BUDGET:$180-$220 million for production and another $100-ish million for marketing. We're looking at around $300 million dollars when it's all said and done. Three weeks in and we're at about roughly $125 million. OUCH! Profitability is way out of reach.SETTINGS:The world of Tron: Ares is pristine! The saturated colors jump off the screen even in the often dark settings. I found the visuals of this movie to actually match the inflated budget. Moreover, even the regular settings were shot with depth and attention to detail that is simply missing in most modern movies.CHARACTERS:I'm not going to reflect on all the characters, but I'll talk about the main cast.Jared Leto plays the one note Ares computer program that comes to life via the permanence code. I've heard a lot about how bland the Ares character is and I thought to myself how would I direct an actor to convey lines as a computer program made real? Probably just as stilted as his delivery. Could you have made the character be the one “special” character who delivers lines in a human way to set him apart from the others? I'm sure you could, but the way he delivered the lines, while bland, is probably the most logical course. I did like how he questioned what was happening, but those nuanced lines seem lost on many moviegoers. Greta Lee plays Eve Kim the CEO of ENCOM who is trying to find Kevin Flynn's "permanence code" to use for humanitarian purposes. While the character type has been done to death I did find myself having a soft spot for her based on her arc being tied to the death of her sister Tess. Her purpose driven story made sense but has been done ad nauseum. Jodie Turner-Smith as Athena seemed to finally be a role that worked for her. She's basically a 3D printed Terminator and I liked that they didn't stray from her mission and try to make her likeable.Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger was where the wheels started to come off of this movie. This tech billionaire trope is even worse than the Eve Kim checkbox character.Gillian Anderson's Elisabeth Dillinger was a waste in my opinion. She should have played the antagonist and been desperate to cement her legacy and then let things go off the rails from there. I'd of yeeted Evan Peters from the film faster than my ex can make a box of Girl Scout cookies disappear.Jeff Bridges (Kevin Flynn) is the white Samuel L. Jackson. He has devolved to a caricature. Arturo Castro as Seth Flores is simply miscast. That character has to be much younger in my opinion. Instead of a 40-year old, I'm casting someone in their early to mid 20's. HITS:The overall visuals are astounding! There's simply too much eye candy to ignore. From the suits, to the literal hacking where programs fight each other, I was blown away by the look and style of the film.I found the 3D printing insertion into the story to be both timely and cool. The effects for laser printing things in the real world were especially awesome. The 29 minute time limit for Ares and the others coming through to the real world was an idea I really liked. It reminded me of the recording limits back in the early 2010's where cameras that could record for 30 minutes or more were taxed at a higher rate than cameras that recorded for less than 30 minutes. It could be a nerdy deep cut

In an episode that is more befitting of George Orwell's 1984 than an American government in 2025, the Trump administration has retaliated against two federal prosecutors at the the DC US Attorney's Office for putting truthful, relevant, and necessary information into a court filing. The prosecutors filed a Sentencing Memorandum, as is usual in every case in which a defendant has been convicted. The sentencing memo read in part: "the defendant, Taylor Franklin Taranto, perpetrated a hoax on June 28, 2023, by falsely claiming that he would cause a car bomb to drive into the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The next day, he drove to a residential neighborhood in Washington, D.C., causing a substantial disruption to the residents and regional law enforcement. When the police responded to the scene of a potential car bomb near a restricted area that was protected heavily by the United States Secret Service, Taranto tried to flee and left his van behind. After securing Taranto's van and executing a lawful search of the vehicle, police found a CZ Scorpion, an M&P pistol, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his backpack, which he left in the van. Taranto unlawfully carried the pistols and unlawfully possessed the ammunition. The next day, on June 29, 2023, then-former President Donald Trump published on a social media platform the purported address of former President Barack Obama. Taranto re-posted the address on the same platform and thereafter started livestreaming from his van on his YouTube channel. Taranto broadcast footage of himself as he drove through the Kalorama neighborhood in Washington, D.C., claiming he was searching for 'tunnels' he believed would provide him access to the private residences of certain high-profile individuals, including former President Obama. He parked his van, walked away from it, and approached a restricted area protected by the United States Secret Service. He walked through the nearby woods and stated, 'Gotta get the shot, stop at nothing to get the shot.' After noticing the presence of the Secret Service he said, 'If I were them, I'd be watching this, watching my every move.' He also said, 'So yeah, more than likely, these guys also all hang for treason' and 'I control the block, we've got 'em surrounded.' When Secret Service agents approached him, Taranto fled, but he was apprehended and placed under arrest."The sentencing memo also stated: "On January 6, 2021, thousands of people comprising a mob of rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol while a joint session of Congress met to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. Taranto was accused of participating in the riot in D.C., by entering the U.S. Capitol Building. After the riot, Taranto returned to his home in the State of Washington, where he promoted conspiracy theories about the events of January 6, 2021."Apparently because the prosecutors put truthful and accurate references to January 6 and Donald Trump into the sentencing memo, within two hours of filing the memo the prosecutors had their government cell phones seized, they were locked out of their government computers, and they were removed from the US Attorney's Office. This represents unlawful retaliation against these prosecutors for providing truthful, accurate, and necessary information to the sentencing judge. In this episode of "The Prosecutors' Verdict" Kevin Flynn and I talk about this legal developments and the horrific precedent it sets for the independence of the Department of Justice and the practice of the law in our nation's courts. To find Kevin on Substack: https://kfflynn.substack.com/To find Glenn on Substack: https://glennkirschner.substack.com/See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hosts Kevin Flynn and Alex Taylor check in from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for the Need to Know Morning Show. The show is packed with political commentary and local news. Topics include the continuing government shutdown and the Democrats' resistance to reopening it, with clips from a "radical" CNN Town Hall featuring AOC and Bernie Sanders. The hosts and their guest, Speaker Johnson, mock AOC's arguments and discuss the rise of Marxist ideology within the Democratic Party. They focus on New York City mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani, whose socialist platform promising "free stuff" like rent freezes and free buses is criticized as an impractical "wolf in sheep's clothing". A bizarre national news story about an illegal immigrant from Montenegro who worked as a police officer in Illinois for a decade sparks a debate on border security, background checks, and the need for legal immigration paths for people seeking a better life. A caller shares a personal story of losing a good employee due to similar immigration issues. In sports, James McCarty gives updates on the Vikings vs. Eagles game, with Carson Wentz expected to start, and highlights the Sioux vs. Gophers hockey rivalry. The show also features Bridgette Readel for an Ag Update (including a celebration of Porktober and a look at China's pork production cutbacks) , and Quincy from Cars Tree Service offers advice on preparing trees for winter. Finally, Greg Jarrett provides legal analysis on the indictment of John Bolton. Standout Moments (Approximate Timestamps): 0:01: Kevin Flynn and Alex Taylor describe the annoyance of scanning radio stations only to hear the same two songs on different channels 0:09: The unbelievable story breaks: an illegal alien from Montenegro who overstayed his visa became a police officer in Illinois and was carrying a firearm for a decade. 0:15: A caller shares his frustration after losing a good employee who was sent back to the Middle East due to not having the correct legal status. 0:22: A caller details the rule in Cancun, Mexico, that a hospital requires over $10,000 cash upfront for treatment before they'll even look at you, highlighting the need for travel insurance. 0:33: In a clip from the CNN Town Hall, AOC is mocked for her childlike, demanding approach to the government shutdown, with Speaker Johnson responding, "bless her heart". 0:45: The hosts and Speaker Johnson criticize NYC mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani's socialist "free stuff" promises, which…

Guest host Steve Hallstrom fills in for Scott Hennen, co-piloting with Kevin Flynn, covering the absurdity of the federal government shutdown as it stretches into its third week. The hosts play audio of House Speaker Mike Johnson and Citizens United President Dave Bossie, who blast Democrats for prioritizing wasteful foreign aid and special-interest spending over funding the military and border security. The hosts reveal a hidden facet of the trade war with China: a potential tariff on "used cooking oil" (gutter oil), which hurts U.S. soybean farmers. Steve then interviews Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls, an Army veteran and successful businessman, who presents a common-sense, three-part plan to defeat Tim Walz and restore "normal" to Minnesota by cutting taxes, fighting crime, and fixing education.   Political Hypocrisy and the Shutdown Democrat Sabotage: The hosts and guests condemn Democrats for engaging in "performative stunts" and holding out on a clean funding bill for "pure politics". They point out that Schumer's stated goal is to "fix the health care crisis looming over the American people" , which the hosts believe is a fight solely to fund health care for illegal immigrants. Exposing Wasteful Spending: Mike Johnson and Dave Bossie list examples of the Democrats' "reckless" spending that Republicans are trying to cut, including: $24.6 million to "climate resilience in Honduras" $13.4 million for "civic engagement in Zimbabwe" $3.9 million for "LGBTQI democracy grants in the Balkans" Consequences for Americans: Farmers are unable to cash hundreds of thousands of dollars in checks because the FSA (Federal Crop Lending) offices are closed. Mike Johnson warns that the Democrats' choice is causing "real personal and economic strain" for troops, TSA, and air traffic controllers. Fetterman's Common Sense: Senator John Fetterman is praised as a reasonable Democrat for publicly stating that conservative Trump supporters are "not fascists" or trying to destroy the Constitution.   Trade, Agriculture, and China The Gutter Oil Threat: President Trump threatened to place a 100% tariff on goods, specifically "used cooking oil," coming from China. Hurting U.S. Farmers: This used cooking oil is often called "gutter oil" in China. While it is not imported for direct food use, it's used as a cheap ingredient (one-third the price of soybean oil) in biofuel production. The hosts and callers argue that banning this oil would boost demand and prices for U.S. soybeans. Bison Rankings: The NDSU Bison football team is ranked number 38 in…

The Return of the Show This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are talking about the finales of Alien: Earth and The Terminal List: Dark Wolf (remember those shows?). Then delve into a baby pool of Gen V season 2. Finally… Tron: Ares. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Tron: Ares: 5:26 The Terminal List: 14:33 Alien Earth: 28:18 Tron: Ares (2025) Tron: Ares Release date: October 10, 2025 (theatrical) Director: Joachim Rønning Screenwriter: Jesse Wigutow (story also by Wigutow) Producers: Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, Steven Lisberger Distributor: Walt Disney Pictures Music: Score composed by Nine Inch Nails. Runtime: ~1h 59m (119 minutes) Genre: Sci-fi / action / adventure Cast Jared Leto as Ares (Program) Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn (classic role) Plot Summary (Premise / What We Know) Premise: A sophisticated Program, named Ares, is sent from the digital Grid into the real world on a “dangerous mission,” marking humanity's first direct encounter with sentient A.I. Conflict: Ares is deployed to retrieve Kevin Flynn's permanence code (or a code enabling A.I. extension) from a rival tech CEO, Eve Kim. Ares gradually develops emotions, shifting the mission's stakes. Visuals & Style: Heavy neon, digital effects, light cycles, digital-real world blending. One trailer labels it “Filmed for IMAX.” Music / Sound: The score by Nine Inch Nails. They released a track “As Alive As You Need Me To Be.” Reception (early): Mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, ~55% Tomatometer, but high audience score (~87%). Production notes: Filming took place in Vancouver, wrapped ~May 2024. Considerations The premise is intriguing (bringing a sentient A.I. into our world), but early reviews note that while the visuals are strong, the plot is sometimes thin or formulaic. Because Tron has a cult legacy and visual identity, expectations are high; missteps in character or plot substance tend to stand out. The Nine Inch Nails score is a bold choice (replacing Daft Punk's iconic Legacy sound) and could either elevate or distance fans depending on taste. The bridging between digital reality and human reality is always a tricky balance — the narrative will need to ground its sci-fi concepts in human stakes (emotions, morality) to avoid feeling hollow. The Terminal List: Dark Wolf (Amazon Prime) Series origin: A prequel to The Terminal List, based on the Jack Carr novel and characters. Creators: Jack Carr & David DiGilio Finale / Plot Summary In the finale, Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) and James Reece rejoin forces to expose and dismantle a deep conspiracy that's been manipulating events behind the scenes. In one key sequence, Ben lures Iranian forces into what they think is a trap (a cabin in the mountains outside Tehran) — but it's a reverse ambush. Using hidden defenses, he turns the tide. When the soldiers breach the cabin, Ben's counterattack ignites, intercut with a Pink Floyd “Brain Damage” cue (a stylized flourish) After the finale, Ben's surviving allies spread out across Istanbul, Tehran, and Virginia to address the remaining threads and avenge fallen comrades. Reception / Notes The finale leans hard into action, retribution, and vengeance, with less room for emotional reflection. Some praised its boldness, others saw it as standard action fare wrapped in swagger. Because Dark Wolf is tied to The Terminal List universe, many viewers also weigh how it sets up or reframes earlier entries. Ratings Series Finale Out of 5, Truthful Conclusions Daryl: 4.5/5 Brian: 4.49/5 Series Out of 10, You Don’t Take a Man’s Wings Darryl: 8.3/10 Brian: 7.89/10 Alien: Earth (FX) Series creator / showrunner: Noah Hawley Episode title: “The Real Monsters” Writers: Noah Hawley & Migizi Pensoneau Director: Dana Gonzales Original air date: September 23, 2025 Runtime: ~47 minutes Franchise placement: It's the first TV series in the Alien franchise, set ~2 years before the original Alien film (so circa 2120) Season & Finale Summary Over the season, Wendy (a hybrid human-robot) and her brother Hermit (aka Joe) have been navigating a crash of the spaceship Maginot on Earth, corporate machinations (Prodigy vs Weyland-Yutani), and the threat of Xenomorphs. In the finale, several factions converge at Neverland (the Prodigy research facility). Arthur (a hybrid) gives birth to a second Xenomorph before dying, and the “adult” Xenomorph attacks. Meanwhile, Wendy and the Lost Boys forcibly take control of the facility, locking up Boy Kavalier, Dame Sylvia, Kirsh, Morrow, and Atom Eins in a cell. Wendy summons a Xenomorph to guard them. Joe is nearly fed to a single-eyed creature (“ocellus”) but survives; the ocellus ends up at Arthur's corpse on the beach, potentially taking him as a host. Wendy in the final moments stands over the locked cell and says, “Now, we rule.” She also confronts Boy K with the collapse of his Peter Pan mythology: “You were never a boy. You've always been a man.” Many critics note the finale is more of a cliffhanger than a neat wrap, raising big questions and leaving threads dangling for season 2. Reception & Critique Highlights Praise for visuals, ambition, and performances (especially Morrow vs Kirsh dynamic) Criticism: some felt the show “lost sight” of its eerie, dreamlike tone by the end, and that the finale overused convenience (aliens appearing in exactly the right spots) Ratings Season Finale Out of 5, What Happens When a Boy Genius Is Obsessed with an Eyeball Darryl: 2/5 Brian: 4.32/5 Season 1 Out of 10, Aliens Run a Muck and a Rich Guy’s Island Darryl: 5/10 Brian: 7.25/10 Contact Us The Infamous Podcast can be found wherever podcasts are found on the Interwebs, feel free to subscribe and follow along on social media. When TRON: Legacy hit theaters in December 2010, Disney wasn't just reviving an old IP—they were resurrecting one of the strangest, most ambitious sci-fi concepts ever made. The original TRON from 1982 was a groundbreaking attempt to visualize the inside of a computer at a time when most people hadn't even touched one. It imagined programs as people, code as architecture, and morality as circuitry. It was visionary—and it bombed.By the 2000s, though, culture had caught up. The Matrix had turned cyberpunk into mainstream mythology, and the neon-noir look of Blade Runner had become visual shorthand for the future. Enter Joseph Kosinski—a former architect with a designer's precision—who re-engineered TRON not as a hacker fantasy, but as a digital myth about creation, perfection, and control.Garrett Hedlund plays Sam Flynn, son of Kevin Flynn, the hero from the first film, who vanished decades earlier. Sam follows a mysterious signal and is pulled into the Grid—his father's virtual world, now ruled by CLU, a digital clone obsessed with “perfection.” Within minutes, we're deep in a story that mirrors Star Wars: the fallen apprentice turned tyrant, the exiled master, the reluctant heir, and a world that must be remade. Kevin Flynn is both Obi-Wan and Yoda—haunted and withdrawn. CLU is his Darth Vader, a creation corrupted by its maker's arrogance. But the movie also borrows Matrix DNA. The Grid works like a virtual prison where sentient programs fight and dream of freedom. Quorra, played by Olivia Wilde, is the last of the “isomorphic algorithms,” lifeforms that evolved on their own—straight out of Ghost in the Shell's questions about digital souls. The film isn't about coding; it's about consciousness.Kosinski builds this world like a cathedral. Production designer Darren Gilford fills it with clean geometry and luminous voids. The suits by Michael Wilkinson and Christine Bieselin Clark refine Syd Mead's 1982 designs into sculpted futurism. And Daft Punk's score—half orchestra, half circuitry—turns the film into an electronic symphony. Even those who forgot the plot still remember that sound.Critics complained it was cold, that the script sounded like it was written by people who'd never heard of Google. My son Jonas nailed it: “This sounds like nobody who wrote it had heard of the internet.” And he's right. The film imagines computers as isolated kingdoms, not the networked web we actually live in. It's a pre-internet vision dressed in post-Matrix clothing.Yet that's what makes it fascinating. TRON: Legacy isn't really about technology—it's about fathers, sons, and the danger of mistaking perfection for love. Kevin Flynn's failure isn't technical; it's paternal. He built a world in his image and abandoned it. CLU inherited his father's obsession with order, and Sam inherited his resentment. The conflict isn't between man and machine—it's between generations.Kosinski would revisit that theme in Oblivion and Top Gun: Maverick: the architect of the system confronting the cost of control. TRON: Legacy is the prototype—a meditation on beauty, regret, and the limits of design.Fifteen years later, it feels almost prophetic. CLU's dream of a flawless system sounds uncomfortably close to the rhetoric of Silicon Valley. The movie's warning—that perfection becomes tyranny—lands harder in an age of algorithms, A.I., and curated identities. Its message is simple: imperfection is the only thing that makes us human. So tonight, as we gear up for TRON: Ares, we're putting Legacy on trial—not as a sequel that glitched, but as a digital myth that might've been too early for its own time. It's Star Wars rewritten by a coder, The Matrix without the leather, and Ghost in the Shell with a heartbeat.Load the disc. Power up the light cycles. Let's head back to the Grid.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

The episode features interviews with Nathaniel "Nate" Douglas, executive director of the Perry Center, and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach.   Featured Segments Perry Center: Nate Douglas talks about the Perry Center, a residential home that helps pregnant women through their pregnancies with a Christ-centered approach. The center is in a period of growth, expanding from nine bedrooms to 33 to meet the increasing need. The Perry Center has an upcoming fall fundraiser on October 13th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fargo, which will feature resident testimonies and a keynote speech from Kim Elliott, a woman who raised a daughter conceived from rape. The event is free, and attendees are asked to RSVP on their website.   Government and Politics: Kevin speaks with Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach about her work and the current political climate. They discuss the ongoing fraud cases in Minnesota, including the "Feeding Our Future" and daycare scandals. Fischbach notes her support for a bill that would force the release of money held in Somalia from the "Feeding Our Future" fraud. The conversation also covers the possibility of a government shutdown, with Fischbach placing the blame on Democrats for not supporting a "clean CR" (continuing resolution) and for wanting to increase spending.   Special Interview with Glenn Beck: The show features an audio clip from an interview with Glenn Beck, who is filling in for Charlie Kirk at a TP USA event at the University of North Dakota. Beck and Flynn share stories about their long history in radio. Beck talks about his admiration for Charlie Kirk, calling him a "gift from God" and a "savant". He also reflects on the current state of the nation and the importance of faith in the face of growing darkness.   Weather and Local News: The episode includes a weather report with Meteorologist Dean Wysocki, who shares that a warm air mass is causing unseasonably high temperatures in the region, with highs in the 80s. Kevin Flynn and Alex Taylor take on the pressing issue of the government shutdown and other local happenings. They break down the political blame game, discuss the financial impact on essential services and citizens, and expose what they call "word salad trickery" from politicians.   Featured Segments The Schumer Shutdown: The hosts share clips from Vice President JD Vance and commentator Will Cain, who both argue that the shutdown is a political power play by Senate Democrats. According to Vance, the Democrats' goal is to reinstate hundreds of billions of dollars for healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants, which were cut under President Trump's administration. Cain explains the mechanism: hospitals provide care to illegal immigrants, and the federal government, and by extension the taxpayer, pays the bill. The hosts also discuss the direct impact on Americans, noting that military members, TSA agents, and federal employees are not getting paid, and services like WIC and SNAP are being delayed or shut down. Local Happenings: The show covers a lot of local news, including the area's unseasonably hot weather, with temperatures expected to hit 90 degrees on Saturday before a cold front moves in, bringing a chance of the first hard freeze next week. They also discuss agriculture and outdoors, with Bridget Riedel reporting on dry conditions, recent combine fires, and business acquisitions. Steve Carney talks about the slow start to the waterfowl season due to the heat, and the turkey opener that's set to begin on Saturday. Political Commentary: The hosts and listeners react to the shutdown, with some speculating that President Trump sees this as an opportunity to permanently downsize the federal government and fire non-essential employees. One listener calls out the Affordable Care Act (ACA), saying it was anything but affordable and made healthcare for illegal immigrants more accessible. Fun Facts: The show celebrates a number of holidays, including National Scallops Day, Guardian Angels Day, and National Custodial Workers Day. They also wish happy birthday to singer Sting, who is 74 today, and Charlie Brown, who is celebrating his 75th birthday.   Standout Moments Hot Weather Woes: The hosts are in disbelief over the unseasonably hot weather, with a high of 90 degrees expected on Saturday, followed by a sudden temperature drop to the 60s on Sunday. The Cost of "Free" Healthcare: A listener texts in to point out that federally funded emergency room visits for illegal immigrants ultimately increase…
