Where the Grass May Be Greener by Rob Butler. Narrated by J.S. Arquin. Featuring an afterword recorded by Rob Butler. #scifi #timetravel  For Stenson the start of the walk was the highlight. He had never seen one tree, let alone the dozens now arrayed before him. The only trees left in his world were in botanical zoos. He always encouraged Ben to reach out and feel the foliage. Vision and touch he had decided to experience but not sound, taste or smell – too expensive. Hence the drone of the motorway did not destroy his pleasure. Where Ben saw grass and scrubland, Stenson saw a green beauty he had only ever known in the pages of books or in recordings. And when there was wildlife, like the horses, or the fox he had once glimpsed, these were sensations he could feed on for days as he grubbed and toiled to get the credits for his next trip.   Rob lives in Reading in the UK and has had around 40 pieces of short fiction published in a number of print and online magazines including Shoreline of Infinity and Daily Science Fiction. He particularly enjoys writing Drabbles and a short book of these appears on his Amazon Author pages, along with some other examples of his writing.  https://www.amazon.com/Rob-Butler/e/B01ELRD8XS/   Please help support The Overcast. Become a Patron Today! https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/chrisbell From relaxation, to quelling appetite, to killing pain, I've recently been using an herb called "" (ever since I injured my back several months ago and I needed something other than an opioid based painkiller to stop the discomfort and allow me to sleep and engage in my normal day-to-day function). When I first used Kratom, I felt the effects within minutes - and also experienced a pleasant euphoria, and even a drop in appetite, with none of the side effects of a painkiller and none of the psychosis of something like marijuana. Advocates say the herb kratom offers relief from pain, depression, and anxiety. Scientists say it may hold the key to treating chronic pain and may even be a tool to combat addiction to opioid medications. But the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is now trying to ban this potent herb, citing an “imminent hazard to public safety.” So is kratom safe? Addictive? How do you use it? What are the different strains? What else can kratom be used for? In today's podcast with Chris Bell, you'll discover the answers to all these questions and much more. This is a must listen, in my opinion, especially since President Trump just declared the opioid crisis in America a "national emergency". It’s that time of the month again! Where Ben and Brooke sit down and answer some of your questions about all things slow living, and try to keep the stupid jokes to a minimum. (In today’s episode they succeed in at least one of these areas). This month the show opens with a question from Sharni about camping, which is super fun and timely as Brooke and Ben are currently waiting for the soaking wet Sydney March to end so they can spend some time in the national park down south. Sharni asked specifically for a list of the bare essentials when it comes to camping, which you can find over on the blog at http://www.slowyourhome.com/147. Keep in mind, much of what is suggested in the list can be borrowed rather than bought (particularly if you’re just starting out with your camping adventures and aren’t sure of your style yet) and it’s definitely worthwhile taking a few exploratory trips before committing to one kind of set up. Aside from camping, Brooke and Ben also answer questions about phone use and the arguments it can cause, as well as how to deal with the guilt that arises from even necessary purchases, learning to adopt ‘holiday slow’ in to daily life, and what to do when people aren’t down with the changes you’re making in life.
