Madelynn's (Maddy) clay target shooting experience began when she was just 12 years old at a local 4-H club, shooting American trap. A few years later, her father introduced her to her local high school team where she shot American trap, skeet, and sporting clays through the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). Eventually, Maddy branched out into the more non-traditional disciplines such as doubles, handicap, and 5-stand. In the Spring of 2014, Maddy attended an SCTP development camp held at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The camp was designed to introduce young SCTP athletes into the Olympic disciplines of shotgun sports. Maddy began shooting in USA Shooting sanctioned competitions in the summer of 2016 at the Junior Olympic Championships. She competed in her first selection match in Fort Benning, Georgia at the 2017 Spring Selection Match. In 2018, Maddy earned a spot on her first official USA Shooting Team to attend the World Championships in Changwon, Korea. She also earned a spot on the Junior National Team at the National Junior Olympic Championships right before attending the 2018 World Championships in the fall. Normally after competing on the junior national level, the next step is the U.S. National Team. Maddy bypassed the normal progression and secured a spot on the United States Olympic Trap Team in March 2020. Ryan Walters welcomes by Matthew Binns and George Slade to the virtual Kim Do-hoon Bunker to break down the K League 2 playoff matches of the season. They start in Changwon where Gyeongnam FC moved on after a 1-1 draw against Daejeon Hana Citizen with a disputed VAR call taking center stage late in the game. The conversation then shifts North where Suwon FC also benefitted from being the higher seed and was promoted to K League 1... after a contentious late VAR call. After getting most of the VAR whinging out of the way, they do briefly discuss why Suwon went up and whether or not this playoff system is the right one moving forward.   The second segment brings reprieve from VAR in the form of AFC Champions League. Ryan, Matt, and George go group by group assessing each K League team's performance thus far. They start with the rollercoaster that has been FC Seoul from their 5-0 dismantling of Chiangrai United to back-to-back losses. Moving on to Group F, they talk about Yoon Bit-garam's meteoric rise on the international stage and the Horangi securing top spot in the group. Group G brings up the Suwon Samsung Bluewings unenviable position of having to beat Vissel Kobe by multiple goals in order to advance. And finally, they discuss the first Korean team eliminated from the contest: Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.    Lastly, the three open up a full Eulji Lewis Mailbag with questions ranging from formations to ACL, and back to – you guessed it – VAR. All that and more in this edition of the K League United Podcast.

In Changwon, "Environmental Capital of South Korea," Colin Marshall talks with Coby Zeifman, former outreach coordinator for Nubija, the city's bike share system. They discuss what makes Changwon a cool town; why a feature like Nubija, despite its impressiveness, needed the kind of outreach he has tried his utmost to provide; Changwon's history as a manufacturing town for the conglomerate LG; what makes it a "Young City," including its plan modeled after Canberra; how the city expanded, and how Nubija expanded along with it; how he got to Korea in the first place, on nothing more than the advice of two friends who already lived there; how "livable" he found Changwon even at first; what makes Nubija inconvenient for foreigners; why so many services in Korea require a Korean cellphone; how Changwon's Nubija compares to Daejeon's Tashu; when he started to get the sense that he could not use Nubija, but contribute to it; how he began Changwon Bike Party (by "Tyler Durdening it"); where he's gone with the Bike Party he might not have gone otherwise; the scrutiny he underwent before Nubija let him help out; his experience learning bicycle repair, a subject he didn't know well, in Korean, a language he didn't know well; what Nubija's "smart" information technology architecture does for the system; whether Seattle, where he came from, has got ready to become a 21st century; the glories of the T-Money card; the assumption that certain public conveniences "wouldn't work in America"; Mia Birk's theory of shining a light and scattering the cockroaches; what we can learn from New York City's solution to graffiti in subway cars; his imminent return to the United States, and the reverse culture shock for which he has prepared himself; his hopes for sustained carless "freedom and happiness" in America, and the multimodalism that still requires; how Korea's cycleability ranks overall; and what it takes to complete the country's Four Rivers Tour and receive the best souvenir of all of his time in Korea.
