Bob After Dark

You may remember him, you may not. This is Pete Ghrist, he leads Northwest Indiana Paranormal. Not only is he an officer, but he also pioneers a local paranormal high school club known as Griffith Highschool Paranormal. He was one of the first people to really get the paranormal highlighted in high school, and getting different social clubs together. Also joining us this week is Steve Michaels. Professional Wrestler with many places around the country, including OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling). Welcome to spooky season, Children of the Night! To kick off the month, we're going to be looking at one of the most haunted venues in the Midwest. Ever been to Milwaukee? It's a wonderful city filled with beer, cheese, Brewers, and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Well, in Milwaukee, we have a very old venue that once held the largest gathering of an organization. The Eagles is a fraternity that does a lot of charity work, and their main headquarters was once in this building. Over the years, it was a: HQ, sporting gym, homeless shelter, ballroom, and now a music venue. Also, like any building we talk about on this show, it has a lot of tragic death. Considered to be one of the most haunted places to play a concert, staff says there isn't one band who hasn't had a weird experience there. Everything from children hiding in coat racks, a strange mist hovering around a now defunct swimming pool...this building has everything.

Ever watch Supernatural? If so perhaps you're familiar with the invisible dogs that would come and collect your soul upon selling it. Little did you know, this in universe show lore is based in actual ancient lore. These Hell Hounds history can date back thousands of years back to Ireland! That's right! A potential Fae creature!

Remember the movie The Witches? There was a scene in that movie where the witches cursed a little girl to live in a painting for the rest of her life. She grew old, and moved positions in the painting until she disappeared completely. Well, despite Bob referring to Young Sherlock Holmes the week, this episode isn't about movies. No, in fact we are talking about haunted and cursed paintings. Figures that would move positions, curse the owner, or cause chaos around them. This episode we talk about the famous The Hands Resist Him, The Crying Boy, The Anguished Man, Love Letters' Replica, and more!

This is the most ridiculous concept to an episode we researched of all time. Easily. The first part of the lore comes to us from Bantu Folklore, and that is the Devouring Gourd. You read that right. The Devouring Gourd is a story that seems to have inspired Little Shop of Horrors. It is a gourd that grew to immense proportions, and ate people until it came into combat with an arrow wielding child. Since that bit of lore is a bit short, you get a two part episode! The second piece of our story is that of a humanoid figure that resembles a walking corn stalk. Did we mention this corn stalk could be extra terrestrial, and is vampiric?

Imagine you have the ability to change the world. Maybe you can live out some crazy super hero fantasy you have, or...maybe you're looking to become a villain. Well, unless you were born with laser vision, chances are neither of those fantasies will come true. However, what if I was to tell you there are objects that will give you the ability to create or destroy. Behold The Holders. These are objects containing supernatural abilities. What are they? An object you can find by entering a hospital, halfway house, or mental facility. Each item has a test with a set of rules. Pass the rules? Get the item. Fail and well...nothing good can come from it. Beware however, The Holders are said never to be all collected by one person. Have you ever heard of Bobby Mackey's Music World? It is a very haunted nightclub in Wilder Kentucky. Most noted for being one of the most popular episodes of Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Bishop James Long is currently a Bishop of the United States Old Catholic Church and he has devoted his entire life to the studying of Demonology and the Paranormal. Camels are strange animals. They have large humps, spit, and live in a constant state of heat. Now, what do you think about when you think of where camels may live? First thought maybe Egypt or some sort of desert country. While you are correct, we look at two strange cases for this episode where wild camels maybe wandering around Arizona. Once upon a time ago, the United States Military had what was called The Camel Corps, which was a camel caravan for US Troops. The project was left behind when the Civil War started, and some say to this day the remnants of that project exist being called Ghost Camels. A simple Cryptid, yes. However, there is a story of a more gruesome creature called The Red Ghost. A camel that carries a dead riders skeleton on its back that causes havoc.

A strange request we get often to do subjects on are haunted transportation objects. Haunted cars, trains, and yes...even ships. How can a vehicle be haunted? Digging into some research, come to find out ghost ships are a reported phenomena. Not only are there reports, but the term ghost ship can be used as something very real...and very scary. However, there is a concept that we are living in a simulation. It's border line conspiracy theory, but an interesting idea. Is the world around us real? Despite Bob's better judgment, here we are. Talking about giant black cat that eats you if you don't get new clothes around the holiday season. To appease Count Panek this year, Bob dives back into Christmas and other Holiday Creatures lore. You know Yule Cat, and Krampus. You know Frau Perchta and La Befana. However, do you know about Hans Trapp, the Christmas killer scarecrow? How about Grýla? She was the beast who owns the Yule Cat and mothers the Yule Lads. These are not the Christmas stories we are taught as children. Also, there maybe some Krampus mentioned here as well.

The Man in the Fields, The Abandoned Convenient Store, The Creature in Your Mind, and Blind Man's Bluff...what do these have in common? Well, they are all ritual pastas. Each one, similar to Bloody Mary, has a similar feel of a parlor trick or party game. You have some scenario where there must be some odds you have to over come. Some are easy, others...life threatening. The stories this week all vary to degree.

The Chelsea Hotel, or known as the Chelsea Hotel was the scene of many strange occurrences and horrific travesties. For starters, one of the most infamous stories from there was story of Sid and Nancy. Also, a ghost story involving the Titanic! One of New York City's most haunted locations.

Now, have you ever seen The Conjuring? The sort of bio-flick of Ed and Lorraine Warren. We've talked about them on the show previous, but they are world famous paranormal investigators and demonologists. What do these have in common? Well, Ed and Lorraine actually did some work on a case of a werewolf. A sort of werewolf. Meet William Ramsey. Ramsey claimed to have been possessed by a some sort of entity that gave him super strength and almost wolf like tendencies. Ramsey's case was world renowned, and caught attention of the Warrens. If you're new to Bob After Dark, this episode will be quite the treat. Meet Steve Michaels. He is a professional wrestling superstar, and paranormal investigator. Steve is frequent co-host of Bob After Dark, and this time he comes with some friends. You see, Steve wrestles for a promotion called Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) out of Louisville. The promotion recently did a paranormal investigation of the midwest's most haunted locations, Waverly Hills Sanitorium. A few of the wrestlers call in to share their experiences with us. Once upon a time ago, there was a TB outbreak, and Waverly Hills was the quintessential treating spot for the disease, or rather...a place that was able to try to treat it. TB was a vicious disease, and during it's untreatable days a lot of folk died within those halls. Patients were subjected to experimental treatment that was sometimes worse than the disease itself. After closing it's doors, the hospital became a retirement home...which wasn't a pleasant place either. All of this leads one big energy foot print that may lead Waverly to be a haunted location.

You may have heard of him before on this show. In case you haven't meet James Brija. He is a practicing witch, paranormal investigator, and of course friend of our show. James came on to talk about exorcisms in Witch culture. The ways to do it, tools to use, and of course some safety tips for all of our baby witches out there.

When we came up with the concept for Exorcism Month, the one faith that came to Bob's head was the concept of Jewish Exorcisms. Where they a thing? Jumping to Google, Bob found Rabbi Geoffrey Dennis. A renowned Rabbi known for his studies into the world of Jewish Myth and Lore. Upon reaching out, this particular Rabbi emailed right back and here we are. This is one episode you won't want to miss. What is evil? Well, we suppose that question is awfully suggestive depending on who you ask. If you ask Father Michael Maginot, he would answer it's a force that works in conjunction with demonic entities. You may recognize Father's name from one of the most high class paranormal investigations of the 21st Century, The Demon House in Gary, Indiana. The story goes that the home was haunted by several demons, and caused several members of a family to become possessed. The haunting caught the eye of paranormal investigator and TV personality, Zak Bagans, famous for his TV Show Ghost Adventures. Zak made a documentary about the story called, "Demon House" and has been seen millions of time by many folks. Father Michael was the Catholic Priest that was on scene for the case, and came on our show to discuss the side of his story. Learn how one man of the cloth went from being on call for a hospital chapel to diving head first into his first exorcism, and probably the most famous case the Catholic Church has had since the stories of the film, "The Exorcist."

Remember Tales from the Crypt? Was probably a lot of people's introduction to the world of horror and even supernatural elements.
