PLANE OF ARBOREA - Where vibes are chaotic, food is suspicious, and trees hold grudges

The RPGBOT.Podcast

If you've ever wanted to party in a magical forest where the trees are judging you and the weather is trying to kill you, this is your episode. A massive thank you to Dungeon Master Adamantine for sponsoring this episode! Whether you want to explore mythic Athens in person or dive into the underdark from your living room, Nick Fotopoulos—aka DM Adamantine—runs unforgettable sessions across systems including D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and Vampire: The Masquerade. Book a game with him at his website or at StartPlaying. Episode Summary: In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, the crew ascends to the upper planes—specifically Arborea, the chaotic good realm of unfiltered passion, overflowing food, and wildly unpredictable weather. The discussion kicks off with character dynamics in tabletop RPGs, including the joys of playing support roles (bards get a lot of love), and meanders gloriously into an exploration of Arborea's distinct layers and their mythic, emotional, and environmental weight. From the fertile lands of Arvandor to the infinite-but-three-feet-deep ocean of Aqualore, and the ruin-scattered, chalk-dusted dunes of Mithardir, the hosts explore what it means to live—or afterlive—in Arborea. They compare the plane to California, invoke the chaotic energy of a 24/7 frat party to describe Sylvania, and debate whether your party name really matters. Along the way, you'll encounter sentient forests, eldritch food carts, mysterious spiriters, and a lot of strong opinions about weather patterns and campaign storytelling. Arborea's Alignment: As a Chaotic Good plane, Arborea thrives on passion, impulse, and idealism—but it's not without danger. Oaths Matter: Making promises in Arborea might have magical or moral weight. Break them at your peril. Arvandor = Abundance: This lush and fertile layer feels like a divine Whole Foods. It's the breadbasket of the Outer Planes. Weather Gone Wild: You may experience thunderstorms, lightning, or perpetual sunlight—all in a matter of minutes. Ecology and Afterlife: Arborea is home to Eladrin, elven petitioners, and protective nature spirits. It might be your final resting place... or party destination. Aqualore: Vast ocean, but only three feet deep. Still wet, still weird. Sea elves abound, but not much else. Mithardir: A lifeless chalk desert haunted by ruins of fallen gods and vicious storms. Adventure hooks lie buried under sand. Nautilus: A floating trade hub where adventurers can find deep-sea gear—and probably a weird side quest. Sylvania: A kaleidoscopic chaos realm where every moment is a party and nothing makes sense. It's Animal House with cosmic consequences. Party Names: Whether you're “Team Fireball” or “The Drunken Disciples of Kord,” a good name makes recaps easier and sets the campaign tone. Pop Culture Comparisons: Arborea is described as California, Sylvania is Vegas meets Coachella, and the Widow's Henge might be Top Chef meets eldritch horror. It is appointed to man once to die, and--after that—the judgment. That's Hebrews nine, twenty-seven, and this is Something Good with Dr. Ron Jones. At the end of days, there will be not one, but two separate judgments. The Great White Throne Judgment, and The Judgment Seat of Christ. What will these judgments look like, and who will be judged?  Ron has answers today as he wraps up his teaching series, “Heaven: The Father's House and My Eternal Home.”

What happens when the multiverse needs a place to stash its worst offenders? Enter Carcery, the D&D plane that's more sentence than setting. In this deep-dive episode, the RPGBOT crew cracks open the lore, layers, and lethal threats of Carcery—a prison plane where hope goes to die and escape is barely more than a myth. Explore the distinct environments of its six terrifying layers, from the overgrown deathtrap of the Scarlet Jungle to the soul-freezing expanse of Agathys. Discover the twisted ecosystem of beings who call this place home—whether they want to or not—including cursed creatures like the Varguile, the war-worn Shrieking Terror, and the manipulative aristocrats known as Demodans. The crew also journeys into the cursed gate town of Cursed, where fugitives rot and secrets fester. Where does true belief begin? True belief is an issue of the heart, not the head. Many people believe that a God of love cannot also be a God of wrath. Think about that. But author and pastor Tim Keller says there is no love without wrath. In the book Hope Has Its Reasons Becky Pippert writes, "Think how we feel when we see someone we love ravaged by unwise actions or relationships. Do we respond with benign tolerance as we might toward strangers? Far from it. Anger isn't the opposite of love—hate is, and the final form of hate is indifference." Why?Who enters heaven according to Revelation 21:27? "Only those written in the Lamb's book of life!" Listen to me! Don't come to me telling me how good of a person you are! It doesn't matter! You are either in the Book or you're not! And if you're not…then you are going to be TOTALLY separated from God and from all the Saints for eternity!

Is Hell real? In the past most people did not have a difficult time with the idea of hell. But modern American sentimentalism is one indication that people today tend to care only for the softer virtues of God like love and tenderness. They have forgotten the hard virtues of holiness, righteousness and justice. So as we seek to come to terms with the hard issues like hell, we must consider the question, "What is my spiritual authority?" Is my spiritual authority God's Word - the Bible - or is my spiritual authority my feelings and my sentiment? >>Watch on YouTube

You know...I can't help but wonder…if the reason that we have so much... so-called... "Hell" in the world today …is because we have spoken so little about it in our pulpits! Most people can't remember the last time they heard a preacher stand up and expound on Hell. And as I sound the Alarm this morning... I want to tell you... I'm not speaking primarily to the lost! Most people are not saved by hearing a message on Hell. Now some may be…but I'm preaching primarily to the church! I'm preaching to those of us who ARE saved!

Send us a textEternal separation from God—or a chance at redemption beyond the grave? This episode challenges conventional beliefs as we explore the profound theological perspectives on the fate of sinners after death. We start by refuting the idea of annihilation and that sinners can somehow escape the fires of hell without the gospel. Instead, we emphasize the grave reality of eternal torment for those who reject Christ, drawing on biblical teachings. With heartfelt reflections on personal faith and salvation, we even bring in surprising insights from ChatGPT about the nature of sin beyond death. Our conversation leads us to unpack the concept of death as a state of perpetual separation from God, suggesting a continued existence beyond passing that many fail to consider. Using scripture and analogies, such as marital separation, we highlight the necessity of understanding these spiritual truths through the Holy Spirit rather than relying solely on digital sources. We delve into the biblical narrative of the rich man and Lazarus to further illustrate how eternal separation is an active state of being, urging listeners to comprehend the full weight of this doctrine. As we progress, the urgency of turning to Christ is at the forefront. We assert that "everlasting" truly means forever, dispelling myths about a temporary hell. The idea that hell's torment is finite is challenged, with emphasis placed on embracing the gospel before it's too late. Throughout, we reiterate the significance of God's love and its powerful draw towards repentance and salvation. This episode serves as a clarion call, urging listeners to deeply evaluate their beliefs and turn to Christ, highlighting the eternal consequences of their spiritual choices.Faith That Challenges. Send us a textCan hell be anything but eternal? Join us as we tackle this provocative question and confront the contentious debate surrounding the nature of hell and the fate of the unrepentant. Through a close examination of scripture and the principles of justice, we defend the traditional view of hell as an everlasting reality, challenging modern interpretations that suggest alternative endings such as annihilation. Our discussion also critiques the notion that sins can be purged in a lake of fire, arguing for the necessity of accepting Christ within one's lifetime for salvation. We caution against beliefs that could undermine the fear of God and the pursuit of righteousness.Discover the intricate theological implications of preaching the gospel amid these doctrinal debates. Consider the paradox: could sharing the gospel lead to greater sin accumulation if rejected, inadvertently prolonging one's purgative period? We explore whether refraining from preaching might actually result in a shorter stay in the purgative lake of fire according to certain views. With urgency, we stress the significance of the Great Commission and question teachings that might trivialize the importance of faith in Christ. This episode promises a thought-provoking journey through complex theological issues that challenge the core of Christian doctrine.Faith That Challenges. Conversations that Matter. Laughs included. God created the earth and all the various forms of life upon it... he created all the life cycles, all the majesty of perfect function and all the beauty and harmony they reveal. Likewise, God created and controls the spiritual world (he set the conditions for heaven, earth and for hell). Whatever happens to those that fail judgement(the vast majority of everyone ever born), is a choice that God has made, designed created and supported... thus it must reflect his nature. God is not stuck with laws that go against his will or choices... he designed them. Delivered by P Brad Smith 09/02/25. Death And Hell. Part - A. One of the common mistakes made when trying to interpret the Bible, comes from overlooking the most basic rule of study... comparing scriptures with themselves. The concept of eternal punishing after judgement, is strangely missing from every prominent Old Testament reference. It is very hard to imagine why God would not warn Adam and Eve and numerous other key players in their times right up to Christ, that death would include eternal torment filled with unrelenting pain and horror for all time... with no relief whatsoever. Adam was warned that he would surely die and that is exactly what happened. There is a huge difference between death (which is often quick and uneventful) compared to eternal torturous pain. Why would God hide, or disguise such a hideous result for thousand years, if such a terrible punishment were literally true? "In an era whose sense of the human psyche is dominated by entertainment and consumerism and by therapy culture—the personal and private are most often emphasized to the exclusion of almost everything else. Conventional therapy, necessary and valuable at times to resolve personal crises and suffering, presents a very incomplete sense of self. As a guide to the range of human possibility it is grimly reductive. It will help you deal with your private shames and pains, but it won't generally have much to say about your society and your purpose on earth. It won't even suggest, most of the time, that you provide yourself with relief from and perspective on the purely personal by living in the larger world. Nor will it ordinarily diagnose people as suffering from social alienation, meaninglessness, or other anomies that arise from something other than familial and erotic life. It more often leads to personal adjustment than social change. Such a confinement of desire and possibility to the private serves the status quo as well: it describes no role for citizenship and no need for social change or engagement." - Rebecca Solnit Buy the Book: http://rebeccasolnit.net/book/a-paradise-built-in-hell/Borrow the Book: https://www.overdrive.com/media/258355/a-paradise-built-in-hellThe Internet archives copy of the book: https://archive.org/details/a-paradise-built-in-hell/page/10/mode/2upThe wiki about the book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Paradise_Built_in_HellA reader's take on the book: https://tornes.medium.com/a-paradise-built-in-hell-the-extraordinary-communities-that-arise-in-disaster-by-rebecca-solnit-96ff3a349acaMake a donation to help the kids: www.pcrf.netGET AN OCCASIONAL PERSONAL EMAIL FROM ME: www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.comTUNE IN ON INSTAGRAM FOR COOL CONTENT: www.instagram.com/mydbpodcastOR BE A REAL GEM + TUNE IN ON PATREON: www.patreon.com/MYDBpodcastOR WATCH ON YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com/juliemerica The opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only.
