Darkness Radio Presents: Dark Spirits: Monsters, Demons, and Devils with Paranormal Researcher/Author, Richard Estep! Sometimes the monsters are monsters — swimming the murky waters of Loch Ness, stalking their victims the streets of small town America, or hunting innocents across the desolate British moors. At other times, the darkness lies within the human soul itself — the falsely accused who were executed for witchcraft in Salem, those hounded to their graves (and beyond) by cruel pursuers, or those cursed by all forms of vile spirits. Then there are the devils and demons lurking in the darkness, capable of possessing and tormenting the living. Master storyteller and seasoned paranormal investigator Richard Estep presents sinister hordes of evil in Dark Spirits: Monsters, Demons, and Devils. This fright-filled read spans the darkest realms of the paranormal! On Today's show we discuss Richard's experience with Waverly Hills Sanitorium, his time working at the Stanley Hotel, the chilling tales from the Cecil Hotel... and we talk about topics like real-life vampires, monsters, and werewolves! With an alleged 63,000 deaths taking place inside its walls, Waverly hills Sanatorium is up to its eyeballs in ghosts and not surprisingly the site keeps topping the list of America's most haunted locations. Originally built as a tuberculosis hospital in 1910, the building saw many lose their life from the disease. This was not the worst of it – slowly stories of mistreatment and dubious human experimentation trickled out. Patients who died left the premises in what was known as the “death tunnel”, or “body chute”. Surely this place has earned the title of the most haunted site in America?Waverly Hills attracts hundreds of ghost hunters every year who venture into the abyss of it's vastness in the dark searching for the lost souls that lurk within. What does the future hold for this site? But, more importantly, is it truly haunted?Join us in this episode to find out more about Waverly Hills Sanatorium.#waverlyhills #americasmosthaunted #hauntedusa #hauntedamerica #waverlyhillssanatorium #hauntedhospitalsoftheworld #anneandrenata #frightfullygoodstories #truehauntingspodcast #paranormalpodcasters #ghoststories #mosthauntedsite #bewareofghosts #apparitions #poltergeists #wraiths #humanexperimentationFollow us on social media on our Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/AnneAndRenataand our You Tube page here: Anne and Renata Ghost Grannies See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

If you're new to Bob After Dark, this episode will be quite the treat. Meet Steve Michaels. He is a professional wrestling superstar, and paranormal investigator. Steve is frequent co-host of Bob After Dark, and this time he comes with some friends. You see, Steve wrestles for a promotion called Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) out of Louisville. The promotion recently did a paranormal investigation of the midwest's most haunted locations, Waverly Hills Sanitorium. A few of the wrestlers call in to share their experiences with us. Once upon a time ago, there was a TB outbreak, and Waverly Hills was the quintessential treating spot for the disease, or rather...a place that was able to try to treat it. TB was a vicious disease, and during it's untreatable days a lot of folk died within those halls. Patients were subjected to experimental treatment that was sometimes worse than the disease itself. After closing it's doors, the hospital became a retirement home...which wasn't a pleasant place either. All of this leads one big energy foot print that may lead Waverly to be a haunted location.
Dale Clark is the director of tours at the Waverly Hills Sanatorium. He will join Charlotte to talk about the hauntings and findings of scientific investigations at the facility. The Waverly Hills Sanitorium was opened in 1926. Patients were housed there until 1961. Originally, it was a two-story frame building with a hipped roof and half-timbering. Construction on the building began in 1908 and opened for business on July 26, 1910. The building was designed to accommodate 40-50 tuberculosis patients safely. At the time, tuberculosis was a very serious disease. People who were afflicted with tuberculosis were isolated from the general public and placed in an area where they could rest, stay calm, and have plenty of fresh air. Sanatoriums were built on high hills surrounded by peaceful woods to create a serene atmosphere to help the patients recover. Eventually the facility house 140 patients After closing down in 1961, it quarantined, then renovated. In 1962, the building reopened as a nursing home that eventually became known as Woodhaven Medical Services, a geriatric facility. WoodHaven Medical was closed by the state in 1981. Over the next few decades, Waverly Hills would fall into more dark times. Vandalized, damaged, nearly condemned. Previous property owners had no desire to maintain the luster of the building and did little to stop people from slowly destroying her. But in 2001, Waverly Hills Sanatorium was purchased and since then, there have been many changes and improvements to the building and surrounding property. The property reportedly has its share of paranormal activity including slamming doors, the apparition of a man in white, a little boy roams the halls, and doctors long gone are sad to walk the halls as well as patients.https://www.therealwaverlyhills.com/

Discussions on personal high strangeness, magic, "place", and journeys into the ritual space. This week, Caitlin comes on to discuss personal paranormal experiences, as well as ways she has been branching out into ritual work, thelema, and her meditative practices. We discuss the nature of place, or space and the importance that has played while we try to maintain our safety and sanity during COVID. Of course, because it's the Void, we also have Jazz, Shadow People, spirits who like to pinch, and more. Overall this was a really interesting conversation, a great explanation for those starting their explorations into magical things, and a reminder that whatever "it" is out there probably responds best to a "light" touch. Tonight we are delving into the creepy world of the abandoned sanatorium. What better place to go ghost hunting. Most of these places were well known for the high death rates and many for their harsh treatment of patients. If you are like us you may also be wondering what the difference between a sanatorium and a sanitarium is. Well wonder no further because here it is...nothing...absolutely nothing. Sanitarium is mostly used in north America while sanatorium is an older word used in most of the world outside of north America. We always gotta be different! Join us this week to meet your new hosts of the Devils Hour - Amy and Christi. Two friends from New Jersey with a passion for the paranormal...and random shenanigans. We will also be talking with CPR Matt. Devils Hour Paranormal came about after a discussion between two friends. After months of going back and forth with the idea, Devils Hour Paranormal was formed in early 2017. Amy's paranormal journey began when watching an episode of Ghost Adventures turned in to a roadtrip to Kentucky with a night spent in the Waverly Hills Sanitorium. The following summer, another road trip was made. This time to Iowa to spend 12 hours in the Villisca Axe Murder House. After that, the bug had bit. Christi's paranormal journey began with the appearance of an apparition that left her questioning what she had seen. When the friendship was born between Christi and Amy, so were the investigations. An intense night spent at Letchworth Village and an evening in the infamous Hinsdale House were added to Christi's list. This is just the beginning. Join us every week for paranormal talk - and so much more. www.facebook.com/devilshourparanormal Instagram: @devilshourparanormal Twitter: @devilshourpara Email: devilshourparanormal@gmail.com Happy Hunting!
You’ve asked, you’ve begged, you’ve pleaded…and we finally succumbed to your requests - episode 20 features the one and only Waverly Hills Sanitorium (not Sanitarium, we checked) as well as a pretty terrible guy named Gregory Scott Hale. In this episode we ask the important questions: Is it more acceptable to eat people if they’ve been cooked? Where can I find Jesus the biggest? What’s so traumatizing about a torso? Perhaps most importantly, we get our **FIRST FAN MAIL** but our excitement quickly devolves into concern when we can’t decode its mysterious symbols. (For real guys, if we go missing, blame this anonymous person in Utah.) Christine also rescues a bug, but Em doesn’t approve of that segment. And that’s why we drink!
This week, Kyle tells the tale of Waverly Hills Sanitorium and I continue to only call it Waverly Place because my pop culture brain has ruined me. We discuss Room 502 and how Ghost Adventures possibly harassed the ghost in the weirdest way possible (see clip). Then we come up with our ideal lineup for a sanitorium music festival. Get psyched for It Gets Weird Fest 2017 at Waverly Hills. On a side note, our intro tonight is a bit different since we recently had a tragic loss in our friend circle. We want to dedicate this to our recently departed friend, Riley and have posted his family's gofundme below if anyone wishes to help out.
