Today on America in the Morning Erin's East Coast Danger All New York City beaches will be closed for at least the next two days, and many New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia beaches are banning swimming until further notice due to the dangerous rip currents and waves that may reach as high as 10 to 20 feet that will be crashing ashore from Hurricane Erin.  Correspondent Julie Walker reports that while the hurricane will not come ashore, evacuations are the order for North Carolina's Outer Banks, with warnings for swimmers in place along the entire East coast from Maine to Florida.    Epstein Files Release Plan The Justice Department will start handing over to Congress documents dealing with Jeffrey Epstein starting on Friday, and the House Oversight Committee intends to make those papers public – but not immediately. President Donald Trump has said that U.S. troops will not be sent to defend Ukraine's borders. "You have my assurance," he said during an interview with "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday.As Hurricane Erin neared North Carolina's Outer Banks on Tuesday, threatening to whip up wild waves and extreme winds, evacuations were ordered on barrier islands along the Carolina coast. Authorities warned the storm could churn up dangerous currents and swamp roads with waves of up to 15 feet in height.

Dr Phil Williams is Professor Emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh, where he taught from January 1990 to April 2022.  In the first part of his career, at Aberdeen University, Southampton University, and Chatham House, he wrote books on Crisis Management, The Senate and US Troops in Europe, During the last 30 years his research has focused primarily on transnational organized crime, His most recent book is “The Mediterranean Connection: Criminal Networks and Illicit Economies in North Africa.” Aspects of criminal networks usually include the smugglers' toolkit: concealment, deception, circumvention and facilitation   North Africa itself can be understood as a space of flows – primarily south to north, but also north-south (hazardous waste) and horizonal flows, cannabis from Morocco moves Eastwards while counterfeit cigarettes move from Dubai to the Atlantic and through Algeria into Europe.    Some international assistance is provided by Interpol and the United Nations agencies to counteract this.

It's the first major hearing of Trump's second term and could offer insight into how the justices view the ongoing legal challenges to his agenda.
