The Celtics and Bulls met in the playoffs in 1981, 1986, and 1987 (all Celtics sweeps), before waiting 22 years, where they would face off in one of the NBA's all-time great first round series in 2009, a tense nail biter that lasted seven games and included seven periods of overtime basketball. The missing piece from that series? Rajon Rondo. This time, however, Rondo won't be in a Celtics uniform. Boston Celtics Hosts Chicago Bulls in First Round as Top Seed in Eastern Conference
Fresh off of averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, on 61 percent shooting during his two-game home debut in front of the Maine Red Claws crowd, it is clear that not only the fans, but also Yabusele's teammates thrive off of the energy that he brings to the court every single play. I sat down with the player known as the Dancing Bear - someone who compares his game to Draymond Green's - during his off day as the Red Claws prepared for a deciding Game 3 in the D-League playoffs. We discussed everything from strange rules in China, how he earned the Dancing Bear nickname, his relationship with Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown, and why he pursued basketball as a youngster growing up in France. The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered their second consecutive stunning loss by blowing a 26 point 4th quarter lead to the Atlanta Hawks. The defeat placed them back into a tie with the Boston Celtics for the top seed in the conference. Kyle Lowrie is back in Toronto's lineup and playing well. The Raptors have been a problem for the Celtics in recent years and are a highly likely second round matchup at this point if both teams get that far.

The Boston Celtics won their 50th game of the season and tied the Los Angeles Lakers for most 50 win seasons. Down in the NBA D-League getting some seasoning, DeAndre' Bembry has all of the tools in the making to be a solid NBA contributor for the Atlanta Hawks for years to come. At 6'6, with nearly a seven-foot wingspan, Bembry can glide to the basket and get his shot off in a variety of ways. His heady play and a high IQ also make him a menace on defense, able to switch across the board. I spoke with Bembry following his quick stint for the D-League Salt Lake City Stars, just before he was shuttled away by a team spokesman to his plane, as Bembry was recalled by the Hawks Sunday afternoon. Isaiah Thomas is back in the lineup after an ugly weekend of Celtics basketball without their leading scorer. Thomas and the Cs will attempt to hold off the Washington Wizards, who sit 2.5 games behind them in third place in the Eastern Conference.
The Boston Celtics struggled to a split on their two game road trip against bad Eastern Conference teams. The absence of Isaiah Thomas was obvious as Boston tried to score down the stretch against Philadelphia. The NBA continue to receive bad coverage over the resting of players and will need to find a solution next season.
Clearly missing the services of Isaiah Thomas during last night's 98-95 victory over the lowly Brooklyn Nets, Brad Stevens decided to divvy up point guard duties for the Boston Celtics last night. Starting in Thomas' place, Marcus Smart went 3-14 from the floor, but chipped in with 5 assists, 3 steals, and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe (including four clutch makes down the stretch). Although his percentages remain an eyesore, Smart has found shooting success in varying ways. Plus, the Lakers and Suns do battle for ping pong balls.
The Celtics will be without Isaiah Thomas for their mini two-game road trip this weekend in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Thomas banged his knee Wednesday night. Guerschon Yabusele signed a deal with Boston D-League affiliate Maine Red Claws.
