Few topics generate more controversy among NBA players than their 2K rating, so it's no shock that Wednesday's release of the new NBA 2K22 numbers had a bunch of ballers up in arms. Even as high a rating as 96 (out of 100) feels like a slight if you're LeBron James. On the plus side, it also made him the #1 ranked player, just edging out fellow 96-ers Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokoumnpo and Steph Curry! Oh, the grudges that will be launched (and relaunched)! In the meantime, feels like a weird thing to say, but LeBron remaining the best in a video game heading into year 19 is a pretty amazing achievement, even if he'd take issue with the metrics creating the score. Speaking of formats, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss revealed in an interview with The Athletic that she's not a fan of the play-in tournament, both because she doesn't think it's fair to seven and eight seeds who could lose a postseason berth, but also because she doesn't think it's an effective (or at least appropriate tanking deterrent). What's most interesting about her opinion isn't so much whether it's right or wrong, but how much it reveals the worldview of an owner of an organization like the Lakers. And finally, a mailbag question from @thenathanmark. (In addition to twitter - @kambrothers - listeners can ask questions by emailing kamenetzkybrothers@gmail.com or on the iTunes showpage.) Assuming the Lakers finish the season as the number one seed, will they finally get some awards season love, particularly for Rob Pelinka and Frank Vogel? The Kamenetzkys strongly disagree on their chances. Hosts: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Is 96 out of 100 a good score? Yes... unless you're LeBron or another All-NBA caliber player and it's a 2K score, in which case it's an insult. SEGMENT 2: Jeanie hates the play-in tournament. Does she have a point? SEGMENT 3: Could this finally be the year Vogel, Pelinka or even LeBron get some award recognition as Lakers? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! With the uptick in Covid cases why is the NBA going with a  2-2-1-1-1 format for the NBA Finals this season?  Everyone knew the situation before the season began.  Before Game 5 a player, coach and referee were ruled out because of Covid protocols.  Why didn't they do a 2-3-2 format this season to reduce travel and exposure?  Makes no sense.  And speaking of the NBA I wonder what Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Mark Cuban the owner for the Dallas Mavericks  has to say now that the league has once again implemented the Play-In Tournament for next season?  They both ripped the tournament a few months ago if you remember.

Rich tips off the hour recapping night one of the NBA’s Play-In Tournament that included a 50-point night from the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and another disappointing postseason showing from Russell Westbrook.   Rich recaps the eventful night in Major League Baseball that saw the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani demonstrate his amazing two-way skill set, but also the Mariners getting no-hit for the second time in two weeks (congrats to the Tigers’ Spencer Turnbull) that illustrates a growing problem with the Grand Old Game.   Former NBA head coach and current ESPN NBA Analyst Jeff Van Gundy and Rich recap the first night of the NBA’s play-in tournament and why coaches, fans and teammates have to learn to live with Russell Westbrook’s high-risk high-reward style of play, is the Warriors’ Steph Curry should win this season’s MVP Award, which teams the Suns and Clippers would prefer to face in their first round matchups, and his favorite Kobe Bryant story that illustrates the late Lakers star’s unstoppable drive and competitiveness.    The guys wrap up the hour revealing the winners of the Inaugural Rich Eisen Show NBA Awards as voted on by Rich, TJ, Brockman, and Adam the Call Screener. Mike Del Tufo DID NOT get to vote. And make sure you check out Rich's other podcast: Just Getting Started with Rich Eisen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
