The mission of Elijah Rising is to end sex trafficking through prayer, awareness, intervention, and restoration.
The Elijah Rising podcast is an incredibly inspiring and informative show that I have been following since my time living in Houston in 2016. As a former outreach and campus restoration volunteer, I have always admired the work that Elijah Rising does to combat sex trafficking and support survivors. Now, as the Communications Director for a small non-profit in Fort Worth called DASH Network, which focuses on supporting asylum seekers, I find even more parallels and intersections between our organizations. The podcast has not only inspired me to be better for my own organization but also as an advocate against sex trafficking. I am constantly amazed by the knowledge and expertise shared on this show and hope to use the insights gained to better serve people seeking asylum. With every episode, I feel educated, empowered, and motivated to make a difference. Thank you, Elijah Rising!
The best aspect of The Elijah Rising podcast is its ability to educate listeners on the realities of sex trafficking and provide practical ways to combat it. Each episode is filled with valuable information that sheds light on this grave issue. The guests invited on the show are experts in their respective fields, offering unique perspectives and solutions. Whether it's through interviews with survivors or discussions with professionals working in law enforcement, counseling, or policy-making, this podcast covers a wide range of topics related to sex trafficking. The hosts do an excellent job of asking thoughtful questions that elicit meaningful responses from their guests. Additionally, the show regularly provides resources and tools for listeners who want to get involved or support the cause.
While there are not many negative aspects of The Elijah Rising podcast, one minor criticism could be that some episodes may feel repetitive for long-time listeners like myself. Given that sex trafficking is such a complex issue with many facets to explore, it is understandable that certain themes might resurface from time to time. However, it would be beneficial if the show could occasionally delve into new angles or perspectives within the topic area while still serving its main purpose of educating and inspiring action against sex trafficking.
In conclusion, The Elijah Rising podcast is a powerful tool that educates, informs, and empowers individuals not only in Houston but also across the United States and internationally. As someone who has been involved in anti-trafficking efforts and now works with asylum seekers, I deeply appreciate the work that Elijah Rising does and how this podcast serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and creating awareness. It is truly a great resource for anyone looking to make a difference in the fight against sex trafficking or seeking to understand the complexity of this issue. Thank you to Elijah Rising for continuously inspiring me and others through this impactful podcast.

Why and how do we address recovery in Elijah Rising Restorative Care?In this episode, Jessica Gobble, Elijah Rising's Recovery Specialist, explains how addiction feeds trafficking and trafficking feeds addiction. Traffickers have learned that they are able to make more profit off of an exploited individual when they exploit them in multiple ways. For instance, if a trafficker coerces a woman into transporting drugs across the border, distributing them, and then engaging in prostitution, they generate more profit compared to solely exploiting them for sex. This overlap between addiction and trafficking is prevalent for numerous reasons. Jessica also discusses:The distinction between forced and voluntary drug use, and their distinct impacts on individuals. The significance of medical detox and its role in the recovery process. The importance of empowering individuals to direct their own healing journey and providing support as allies.
