Send us a textPerfection cracks fast during the holidays—one party, one plate too many, one “I blew it” moment—and shame rushes in. In this episode, we take that story back. We talk about why God doesn't turn away when we stumble with food, and how His Word re-frames failure through compassion and truth. Psalm 103 and Psalm 32 remind us that God meets us in honesty, not disappointment. We also look at Colossians 2 and Titus 2 to see that grace isn't a pass—it's a teacher. Grace trains us toward self-control and peace, not through rules, but through relationship with the One who knows our hearts. We share our “holiday failure truth list” as a simple, powerful way to interrupt shame in real time: no condemnation in Christ, not disqualified by struggle, and this is not the end of the story. We walk through how to record your own truths, how to return to God quickly after a stumble, and how to learn from the moment without judgment. At the center of it all is identity—knowing who God is and who we are in Him changes everything. When we live from that truth, recovery comes faster, our choices grow gentler, and joy stretches far beyond the season.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Out here on California's rangelands, we talk a lot about stewardship—the responsibility to care for the land so it can continue to sustain generations to come. But sometimes, the land gives something back to us in return: peace, perspective, and a place to heal. This month, as we pause to honor the men and women who have served our nation on Veterans Day, we're reminded that coming home can often be one of the toughest battles they will ever face. That's where the Mighty Oaks Foundation steps in. Founded by Chad Robichaux, a former Force Recon Marine and veteran advocate, the organization helps warriors find hope and restoration through faith, brotherhood, and connection—all grounded in the healing power of the land.In this episode of Tuned in to the Land, CEO and host Michael Delbar sits down with Chad for a powerful and deeply honest conversation about service, healing, and the restorative role that open spaces and working lands can play.Throughout the episode, Chad shares his personal journey, including the challenges he faced after military service, living with PTSD, and the role that faith played as he worked to rebuild his life. That process eventually led him to form Mighty Oaks, drawing on what he learned and what he wished had existed for others walking a similar road. His story is raw and real, and while parts of the conversation are heavy (a heads up to our listeners), it underscores the profound impact that support, community, faith, and time spent on the land can have in helping people find their way back to hope.Want to learn more? Send us a textThe holidays can bring pressure from every side—food, family, spending, and the expectation to keep it all together. In this first episode of our Holiday Survival Guide series, we're preparing our hearts before the holiday rush begins. Together, we're learning to trade perfection and willpower for peace, presence, and a deeper connection with God. Instead of pushing through on autopilot, we're asking better questions: What happens when we invite God into our expectations, our meals, and our emotions? How might a renewed mind shift the way we eat, love, and show up this season? We also share five intentions of Spirit-led eating that act like gentle guideposts: waiting for true hunger, inviting God into every meal, choosing just-right portions, creating peaceful eating moments, and stopping at “just enough.” Along the way, we offer practical tools that actually fit real life—truth lists for gatherings, praise breaks in the car, and quick mind-renewal moments amid errands. Underneath it all is freedom: food is a gift, not a savior, and growth matters more than perfection. We're practicing grace, “failing well,” and choosing the better feast—wisdom, peace, and joy that lasts long after the decorations come down.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Send us a textEverywhere we look, someone is selling the next way to change our bodies. We slow down that noise and ask a better question: what does it look like for us to make weight-loss decisions with God at the center—not guilt, fear, or marketing hype? We talk through GLP-1 medications, intermittent fasting, bariatric surgery, and spirit-led eating, exploring the promises, pitfalls, and the steadier peace that comes from honest discernment. Tools aren't villains or heroes, and the weight-loss industry often focuses on short-term outcomes. So we look at what research truly says about results and regain while also looking inward at motives—calling out shame, comparison, and the pressure to perform.Anchored in Romans 12:2, we emphasize mind renewal as the path to lasting change—whether someone uses traditional diets, medication, surgery, or a gentler hunger-and-fullness approach. We share stories from our own journeys, along with five clarifying questions and a breath prayer for anxious moments: God, You know my heart… and I trust Your thoughts over mine. What does it really take to move from turning wrenches on helicopters to closing high-stakes aviation deals? We sit down with Joe, a former Army maintainer and crew member, to unpack the gritty, unfiltered path from technical mastery to building a business in a safety-first industry. The story starts on the flight line, where meticulous maintenance and responsibility for lives in the air forged a mindset that later shaped his entire sales approach.Joe shares how he discovered that being great at the craft is only a small slice of entrepreneurship. Quitting multiple jobs after a few big wins seemed like the right move—until three months passed with no calls. That drought became a lesson in pipeline, positioning, and patience. We walk through the real work behind a sustainable aviation business: marketing that educates, sales that protects safety and profit, accounting basics, insurance, branding, and the crucial habit of consistent follow-up. If you're eyeing aviation without a pilot license or A&P, you'll learn how to add value by building trust, asking better questions, and partnering with maintenance and operations teams who keep aircraft flying safely. We also dive into coaching and community. Joe invested in mentorships and observed top performers across industries, borrowing tactics without losing his voice. Success leaves clues—habits, systems, and standards you can adapt to aviation's tight-knit ecosystem. And for veterans leaving the service, we highlight resources to rebuild your network and find your footing in business aviation. The big takeaway: if you become truly good at sales, you'll always have a job, but in aviation the bar is higher—because every deal touches safety. If this conversation sparks your next move, subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway. Send us a textWhat if peace with food doesn't start with more rules but with a renewed mind and reordered love? In this episode, we sit on the porch and wrestle with a question many of us face: does focusing on mind renewal mean we get a free pass to eat anything, anytime? As we unpack Romans 12:2, Galatians 5:13, and Colossians 2, we talk about how real freedom grows—not from control or indulgence—but from connection. Together, we explore how intimacy with God reshapes our desires, how gratitude replaces shame, and how caring for our bodies can flow from wisdom instead of fear or striving. We also bring this conversation down to earth—addressing diets, GLP-1 medications, and surgery without shame or judgment. No matter the path, the real invitation is to pause and ask, “God, what are Your thoughts about this for me?” With simple tools like a breath prayer—inhale, “Jesus, I want to know You,” exhale, “more than I want control”—we make space for Spirit-led choices that last. Send us a textIn this episode, we wrestle with the question, “Is overeating a sin?” and talk about how God isn't counting bites, but instead inviting our hearts to trust Him more. We look at what Scripture actually says about gluttony, condemnation, and freedom in Christ by drawing from Proverbs, Philippians, Romans 14, and Romans 8. Together, we share real-life moments—like enjoying too much food at a party or stress-eating after a hard day—and show how these don't have to lead to shame. Instead, we encourage a posture of “look and learn,” asking honest questions like, “Am I seeking comfort in food or in God?”We also share practical tools that help shift our focus from rules to relationship with God: building a God List from Scripture, throwing a quick praise fest to reset, practicing gratitude to move from scarcity to sufficiency, and using breath prayers to center our hearts. These rhythms are not about policing your plate, but about steadying your soul so you can notice God's gentle leadership in each moment. Send us a textIn this episode, we ask an honest question: is the real issue about losing weight, or about why we want to lose it? We share personal stories—from the stage to the infusion center—about how numbers can become idols, how church culture sometimes mirrors the world's standards, and how our bodies carry layered stories of illness, medication, and seasons of life. Together, we turn to Scripture for clarity: Romans 12:2 calls for renewal, not conformity; 1 Samuel 16:7 points us back to the heart over appearance; and 1 Corinthians 6 reframes ownership, not aesthetics. We explore how the size of your body or number on the scale can get treated like a virtue and shift the conversation to motives—stewardship instead of insecurity, service instead of striving. We offer reflection prompts, identity truths to replace shame, and practical ways to reframe body stewardship around peace and function rather than optics. With compassion, we name the complexity of real bodies shaped by trauma, treatment, and hormones, and remind one another that worth can't be measured by a number. Our hope is to invite listeners into freedom—where the mind of Christ guides our goals and joy is no longer held hostage by a scale.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Together, we share how God does the lasting work as we choose new thought patterns and take a gentler, steadier path toward freedom. We also get very practical. We walk through identifying the thought before the craving, uncovering the belief behind the action, and using tools that meet real-life triggers like stress, comparison, or tough relationships. Send us a textWhat drives your everyday choices? For many of us, particularly when it comes to food and our bodies, the answer involves some combination of guilt, shame, comparison, and a desperate desire to measure up. We've spent years caught in cycles of dieting, comparison, and feeling like our bodies—and our choices—were never enough. Guilt and shame often drove what we ate or how we cared for ourselves, and deep down, we carried the heavy belief that God was disappointed in us. In this episode, we share how our perspective shifted when we began to see God's true character: loving, kind, and full of delight in us. When we stopped trying to perform and instead leaned into His grace, our choices around food and self-care became acts of worship rather than burdens.Together, we talk honestly about how moving from duty to delight changes everything—not just how we eat, but how we live. Instead of chasing perfection, we've learned to embrace practices like gratitude and praise that reframe even ordinary moments. This way of living brings freedom, joy, and a new sense of purpose. We hope you'll join us in discovering how your body, your eating, and your daily choices can reflect God's goodness—not because of what you accomplish, but because of who you belong to.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Send us a textWe've both known the heavy weight of shame—the kind that tells you not just that you've failed, but that you are a failure. In this episode, we open up about how shame has tried to define us and how God's Word gives us a different story. Hebrews 12:2 shows us how Jesus “scorned” shame as He faced the cross, counting it insignificant compared to the joy before Him. That perspective gives us hope too. We talk about the different places shame comes from—our own mistakes, wounds from others, or lies we've believed—and how speaking truth to our souls, like the psalmist in Psalm 42–43, can break shame's grip.We also walk through a practical five-step process that's been life-changing for us: bringing shame into the light, asking God to reveal its roots, confessing or releasing it, replacing the lies with His truth, and finally, praising Him for the exchange. We share real tools—like creating “truth lists” from Scripture and journaling exercises—that have helped us move from shame toward freedom. Our heart is for you to know this: shame doesn't get the last word in your story. In Christ, you can exchange shame for joy, ashes for beauty, and captivity for freedom.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Send us a textAs we reflect on Peter's story, we see ourselves in his struggle. He promised loyalty to Jesus, only to fail when the pressure rose. That moment of brokenness—when the rooster crowed and Jesus looked at him—reminds us of the times we've denied or distanced ourselves from God. But what grips us isn't Peter's failure; it's Jesus's response. After the resurrection, instead of rebuke, Jesus made breakfast on the shore. With each “Do you love me?” came not condemnation, but restoration. That same love and calling is offered to us, no matter how many times we've fallen. For us, repentance isn't about wallowing in shame, but turning back to love. The Greek word "metánoia" points to a change of heart, a reorientation toward relationship, not self-punishment. Jesus's kindness invites us out of regret and into renewed purpose. We've learned to “Look and Learn”—to bring our failures honestly before God, not to feel worse, but to experience restoration. Whatever burdens we carry, Jesus meets us like he met Peter—welcoming us back with compassion and reminding us we're never too far gone.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org
At the Rangeland Trust, conserving California's working landscapes means more than protecting open space—it also means preserving the stories of the people who steward them. Ranching families carry generations of knowledge, resilience, and tradition, and if those stories aren't shared, they risk being lost.In this episode, we highlight Roots and Resilience: California Ranchers in Their Own Words, a book that brings together the voices of ranching families from across the state through stories, poems, and essays. Host and CEO of the Rangeland Trust, Michael Delbar, is joined by Dr. Susan Marshall, Emeritus Professor at Cal Poly Humboldt and the editor who brought this project to life, to discuss her inspiration, the editing journey, and what she hopes people will gain from reading the book.As a bonus, we also hear from contributor and Rangeland Trust Legacy Council Chair, Jessica Schley. Jessica reflects on her family's ranching history and how the loss of their family's property inspires her work today and fuels her support of the Rangeland Trust. As a special treat, she reads an excerpt from her piece in the book—bringing her words and perspective to life in a way only she can. When you purchase a copy of Roots and Resilience, a portion of the proceeds directly supports the California Rangeland Trust and our mission to protect the state's working landscapes for generations to come. Send us a textWhen we hear the word “repentance,” many of us think of shame, guilt, or fear. But as we explored King David's story in Psalm 51, we discovered something much different—repentance as an invitation into God's love. David's raw prayer after his failure with Bathsheba isn't self-loathing, but a cry for God's mercy and renewal. When he asks God to “create a clean heart,” he's asking for something brand new, the same creative power we see in Genesis. That shows us repentance isn't about behavior modification—it's about God making us new.We also looked at the word metánoia, which means a change of mind, and how Romans 2:4 reminds us that it's God's kindness that leads us to repentance. This truth frees us from fear and draws us into joy, intimacy, and restoration. Whether it's struggles with food, relationships, or shame, repentance is not a detour but the way back to life. We invite you to walk this journey with us, practicing breath prayer, reflection, and learning to see repentance as God's loving call home.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Send us a textFor years, we carried the heavy misunderstanding that repentance meant shame, guilt, and trying to punish ourselves into change. We even believed we could “hate ourselves into holiness,” but that never worked. Over time, God showed us the truth: repentance is not about condemnation—it's about kindness and freedom. Romans 2:4 reminds us that it's His kindness that draws us close, not fear or punishment. We've seen firsthand that when we turn back to Him, He runs to meet us like the father in the story of the prodigal son, arms wide open and full of compassion. In this episode, we share how repentance looks in our own lives today. Christina opens up about her breast cancer journey and how God is inviting her to turn from fear toward His presence. Heidi reflects on letting go of her need to control everything and learning to rest in God's love. Whatever your struggle—whether it's food, health, or daily challenges—His invitation remains the same. Ready to reframe your understanding of repentance? In this conversation, Sara Jolena Wolcott and Hilary Giovale explore the themes of interconnectedness and the healing journey of decolonization. Beginning with one of their shared Nordic/Anglo-Saxon heritage's understandings of the web of life, known alternatively as Orlog/Wyrd, they inquire into the purpose and nature of ReMembering as participating in the web of life. They then move into Hilary's journey, which often echoes Sara Jolena's journey and might resonate with many listeners, including the importance of facing ancestral truths and the role of discomfort in personal growth. Hilary shares her experiences in writing her book, 'Becoming a Good Relative,' and the significance of feedback from diverse voices. How do we go between the spiritual and the practical? How do we build community among philanthropists and help philanthropists do our own work? How do we see the decolonial movement growing? We end with celebrating the incredible importance of music and the revitalization of ancestral languages.; The episode ends with some music by Carolyn Hillyer. Send us a textIn this episode, we dive into what we call The Great Gratitude Reset. We talk about how gratitude isn't just a nice feeling—it's a daily practice that changes our minds, our health, and our spiritual outlook. Science is finally confirming what the Bible has been saying all along: gratitude reduces anxiety, strengthens our bodies, helps us rest better, and gives us resilience during tough seasons. We've both seen this in our own lives. Christina shares how gratitude keeps her grounded throughout her cancer journey, while Heidi shares how practicing thankfulness sustains her as she walks alongside a close friend in illness. Gratitude has become more than a concept for us—it's been a lifeline. We also share some very practical ways to begin, even if gratitude feels out of reach. One of our favorites is the “Lord I love” exercise, which is as simple as naming small things—like trees, a gentle touch, or even probiotic gummies—and letting those small steps open the door to bigger ones. This isn't about shallow positivity or empty affirmations. It's about anchoring ourselves in God's goodness and allowing His perspective to shape ours. Romans 12 reminds us that our minds are renewed in Him, and gratitude is a key part of that renewal. We invite you to try these practices with us and see how even the smallest acts of thankfulness can reset your heart and perspective.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org
