Because our children struggle with challenging situations and feelings, we want to give them what they need to be resilient. But if we're being honest, sometimes it's easier in the moment to give them what they WANT instead of what they NEED to be able to handle the obstacles they will inevitably face in life. In this episode, you'll learn: How to know whether we're meeting our kids' wants or needs -- and when we need to make a change! What our children actually need from us to become more resilient The easiest way to meet our kids' emotional needs (with examples!) for stronger self-esteem and healthier relationships -- Talk to Rachel about whether the "Become a Powerful Positve Influence" Action Program is a fit for you: https://Rachel-Bailey.as.me/Influence Free coaching calls: https://rachel-bailey.com/coaching/ Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/RachelBailey
When our children are having big emotions or behaviors, it's natural to want those big feelings and behaviors to stop so that there is more fighting, no more disrespectful attitudes, no more drama. Unfortunately, there's one problem: We can't control how our kids feel or how they behave. And when we try, we just make the situation worse (and we feel worse). Fortunately, there is an alternative that leads to a better outcome – AND doesn't require us to give in to them. In this episode, you'll learn: Why our need to control others leaves us exhausted How to address big feelings without trying to change other people A simple shift that will reduce resentment and lead to more peace and influence with our children -- Talk to Rachel about whether the "Become a Powerful Positve Influence" Action Program is a fit for you: https://Rachel-Bailey.as.me/Influence Coaching calls: https://rachel-bailey.com/coaching/ Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/RachelBailey
Why do some kids listen more to one parent than another? Why do some kids seem to calm down more quickly around one parent than another? Often the difference is that one parent is a powerful positive influence, while the other isn't. The good news is that any parent can learn to be a powerful positive influence. In this episode, you'll learn: What we need to give our kids if we want to be more influential How becoming a Powerful Positive Influence can motivate better behavior and healthier self-esteem -- without yelling, punishing, or shaming Two necessary qualities that will help you become a Powerful Positive Influence with your children -- Apply to join the "Become a Powerful Positve Influence" Action Program: https://forms.gle/JTfYQfUXWeg5cpmR8 Talk to Rachel about whether the "Become a Powerful Positve Influence" Action Program is a fit for you: https://Rachel-Bailey.as.me/Influence Coaching calls: https://rachel-bailey.com/coaching/ Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/RachelBailey

The parenting long game is all about putting the right mindset and strategies in play so that kids can succeed and thrive. As parents, we often spend a lot of time in the “yuk,” overwhelmed by what's hard and negative. And we're wired to focus on the negative as a means of protection. However, to parent with the long game, Rachel Bailey tells us that we have to shift from judgment to understanding. Judgment is often followed by a negative narrative we create. Understanding is often followed by the narrative that our child needs help. Listen in to get Rachel's strategies to go from chaos and overwhelm to setting your child — and yourself — up for success.

I'll be the first to confess that I feel a lot of guilt as a parent. In this episode, Rachel Bailey, a parenting expert who works with a lot of lawyers, talks about how our lawyer brain can affect the way we parent, no matter what age our children are and how many we have. I'll also admit that even though I knew subconsciously that being a lawyer would affect my parenting, I was in denial and would try to assume about myself that I don't ever allow the lawyer brain to affect my parenting brain, but oh yes, it does. In this episode, Rachel breaks down into bite-sized pieces how we can be more effective in our parenting without the guilt and extra work and still thrive as lawyers. Let's get started. Do you have a child with big feelings and you're not sure what to do about it? Do you even struggle with controlling your own big emotions? Interestingly, many of us were not taught how to become more self-aware, understand our own feelings, or how to prevent our emotions from controlling us. And many times, parents are actually afraid of their child's big emotions. But this only makes things worse as they tip toe around their child or avoid addressing emotions altogether. It is best to understand why your child is feeling the way they are and then normalize their feelings. Because they ARE normal! We don't want to let our kids feel isolated just because their feelings are sometimes stronger than others. Today, Rachel Bailey and I are discussing big emotions, how to identify if your child has big feelings, and steps on how to turn your family dynamic around and happily coexist once again. Rachel Bailey is a Parenting Specialist who has been serving families for more than 12 years. In this episode, I talk with Rachel Bailey. Rachel is a coach and parenting specialist. She teaches parents how to reduce negative interactions and drama for a more calm, peaceful home and gives her clients hands-on tools for raising resilient and confident children. During our interview, we talk about the 0-60 irregularities of a child's feelings. When a child is placed in a scenario of discomfort Rachel refers to it as the “yuck” and as the parent, we have to help them address the “yuck” and learn how to cope with their big emotions. Those big emotions can be expressed by vulnerability, aggression, and even avoiding feelings altogether. Rachel walks us through the traditional methods of discipline, why they don't work, and healthy disciplinary actions to motivate your children to do better instead.
