The guys recap Notre Dame's impressive 41-24 win over the 16th ranked Syracuse Orange in the JMA Wireless Dome. The game had its ups and downs, but it was the most fun game to watch this season as the Irish stepped up in all three facets to pull out the win. Brandon Joseph's pick six on the first play of the game set the tone and Notre Dame's run game was able to dominate the line of scrimmage and lead the Irish to victory. This game wasn't perfect though, as Drew Pyne struggled mightily for the third straight week and Notre Dame's red zone defense let up three touchdowns in three tries. We analyze it all before Notre Dame hosts the 5th ranked Clemson Tigers in just under a week. Rate, review, and subscribe today! The guys recap Notre Dame's 44-21 win over UNLV on Saturday. We discuss a strange afternoon in Notre Dame Stadium, and compare it to other strange games from over the years. The Irish won despite Drew Pyne's struggles on what proved to be as frustrating an afternoon can be when your team wins by 23 points. Special teams and Logan Diggs ruled the day, as the Irish blocked two punts and Diggs had 130 yards on the ground. We unfortunately have questions about the defense, and the rest of the season at large. Rate, review, and subscribe today! The guys are back to try and reconcile another embarrassing loss by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish during the 2022 season. Just when we all thought Notre Dame had figured things out after starting 0-2, the team took a giant step backward against a Stanford team who was 0-11 against FBS teams over the past calendar year. We discuss why the offense is so inept, where the “winning DNA” from recent years has gone, and why the defense is unable to make plays when the team desperately needs them. The guys are back and are joined by friend of the program, Matt Fortuna of The Athletic. We talk Vegas, Michael Mayer, Drew Pyne, assess the Irish season to date, grade the coaching staff, and look forward to what might be on the table for the rest of this campaign. Matt also has some interesting insight on the state of Notre Dame's NIL operation (or lack thereof). Next, we preview the Stanford Cardinal's visit to South Bend on Saturday night. What used to be a great rivalry has been reduced to just another game on Notre Dame's schedule. Times are hard in Palo Alto, and if things play out the way we hope they will Saturday night, the “Whiniest Coach in America,” David Shaw, could be out of a job. Luke and Tyler discuss the top performers of the game and why the offense was able to have so much success. Then, they break down an up-and-down performance from the Irish defense. The guys preview Notre Dame's next matchup as they are set to host the Cal Golden Bears in Notre Dame Stadium. First, we break down some reasons you may not have thought of that we believe have contributed to Notre Dame's 0-2 start. It starts with Pat Mulligan and ends with Brian Kelly. Then, break down everything you need to know about Cal on both sides of the ball before getting into some score predictions. Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe. The guys are back. Notre Dame lost as a top-10 team to Marshall at home. Marcus Freeman is 0-3 as a head coach. We tried to talk about it. It was an exercise. Tune in if you need some therapy, too.
The Guys are back to preview Notre Dame's 2022 home opener against the Marshall Thundering Herd. They open the show with an impassioned attempt to reinstate faith in Tommy Rees and the offense, before letting you know all you need to know about the Thundering Herd. Finally, enjoy some banter about the rest of the college football world before the crew signs off.
The guys react to Notre Dame's loss to Ohio State in the season opener. While the loss was disappointing, there is still plenty on the table for the Irish and their expectations for the rest of the season haven't changed. They break down why the offense struggled to move the ball, the impressive performance from the Irish secondary, and where the offensive & defensive lines can go from here. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
The guys are back for the first game preview of the 2022 season. They're joined by a great friend of the program, Ashton Pollard, formerly of blueandgold.com and On3. Notre Dame announced its captains for the 2022 season and released the two-deep depth chart since the last episode, and after reviewing the main takeaways from those announcements, they dive in to the match-up between the Fighting Irish and the Buckeyes by going over the keys to the game on offense and defense, as well as some under-the-radar difference makers that could have a big impact on the game. They close out the show with score predictions and a discussion about whether this would be the biggest win by Notre Dame in their lifetimes if they can pull off the upset. Subscribe, rate, and review wherever you get your podcasts.
The guys are joined by a very special guest, Jac Collinsworth, the new voice of Notre Dame football. NBC recently promoted Jac to replace the legendary Mike Tirico and call Notre Dame home games this fall alongside former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett. Jac discusses the moment he found out he got the job, learning from Mike Tirico, the influence his dad Chris has had on his career, and a whole lot more. Tune in and subscribe today.

After that, we hand out our annual preseason awards where we determine which players are likely to break out, who might frustrate us, and who is going to be the MVP, among other topics. We close with a breakdown of the schedule and record predictions. Tune in and subscribe on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts.
Tyler and Luke are back to recap the first full week of preseason camp alongside Tyler Horka, Notre Dame beat writer for blueandgold.com. We discuss the news everybody was waiting for all along - it will in fact be Tyler Buchner leading the Irish offense in Columbus as QB1. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only bit of news from the past week. Avery Davis will miss the season with a torn ACL, leaving the Irish receiver room even more depleted. Tune in for Horka's insight on how wide receiver coach Chansi Stuckey just might be the guy to handle that situation. In other news, Notre Dame starts the season at No. 5 in both the AP and Coaches poll. Jac Collinsworth and Jason Garrett have earned the privilege of calling home games for that top 5 ball club this fall. Tune in as we discuss all of this and more, and don't forget to subscribe on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts.
The guys are back to preview Notre Dame's 2022 Fall Camp. In exciting news, we're expanding our social media footprint with a new YouTube channel. Make sure to watch and subscribe to the channel. In football news, we talk a little recruiting - both good and bad - as one of us implores our audience never to tweet at recruits. We then get into Fall Camp, which kicks off this Friday, August 5th. Join us as we get into the major storylines surrounding the Irish.
The guys are back with a jam packed episode coming out of the 4th of July weekend. We discuss the bombshell dropped Thursday that was the news that USC and UCLA are joining the Big Ten in 2024. What does it all mean for Notre Dame? What does it mean for college football? We're not sure yet, but we try to make sense of it all. On a more positive note, the Irish reclaimed the top spot in the 2023 recruiting rankings after bringing in a haul of top-100 commits over the weekend. Listen to us to discuss the significance of the recent run, and what it means for the future. Finally, we're joined by Hunter Bivin, former Irish offensive lineman and current Director of Football Player Development. Hunter discusses his time in South Bend, the evolution of his experience over time, and how he's able to use his experience to help current players.
The Guys welcome back Friend of the Program and leader in recurring appearances, Mike Singer of Blue and Gold Illustrated, to talk about the Irish's recruiting operation. June was a massive recruiting month for the Irish, and the work done by Marcus Freeman and Co. should lead to some some major commitments in the coming weeks. Tune in to hear Mike run through the state of things, and learn just why he's so high on Chansi Stuckey. Plus, Luke went to Omaha to watch the Irish Baseball team's return to the College World Series. After a weekend with a win; a loss, a lot of Horns Down thrown and Jell-O shots, our host is ready to never return to Nebraska.
The guys are back to recap an exciting week in Notre Dame Athletics. The Irish landed their first 5-Star Quarterback commitment in over a decade with CJ Carr pledging to the Irish on Thursday. Not 72 hours later, Notre Dame Baseball punched its first trip to the College World Series in 20 years, stunning top-ranked Tennessee on the road in a decisive Game Three. For the first time on this podcast, we talk about Irish Baseball. We then discuss the significance of Carr's commitment, both for the 2024 recruiting class, and in the context of Notre Dame's pursuit of Dante Moore. We conclude with an exercise looking at the hit rate of top quarterbacks the last 5 years and reach a consensus that Notre Dame should certainly not be satisfied with just one top-flight QB on the roster.
The guys are back to touch on everything going on with Notre Dame football as summer approaches. We discuss our experiences seeing Marcus Freeman speak at alumni events in Chicago and Los Angeles, and draw attention to some unfortunate parallels between the new head ball coach and another former first time head coach. We get into “The USC Thing,” before discussing NIL and of course, recruiting. We conclude the episode with listener submitted questions across a wide range of topics. Tune in to hear about what Father Jenkins is doing to address the parking problem on campus.
The guys are back with Friend of the Program Greg Flammang from Irish Sports Daily and the Single High Notre Dame Pod to make sense of what's real and what's fake coming out of the 91st Annual Blue and Gold Game. We deliberate over to buy or sell stock on each position group. Topics include: -Steve Angeli will beat out Drew Pyne for QB2 -Chris Tyree and Jadarian Price will outgain Logan Diggs and Audric Estime (rushing & receiving yards combined) -Jayden Thomas will have more receptions than Deion Colzie -Patterson should move to Guard so Zeke Correll can play Center -Notre Dame will field its best defensive line unit this season since 2012 -Either Prince Kollie, Jaylen Sneed, or Junior Tuihalamaka will be a starter at linebacker by November -Brandon Joseph will have 5+ INT this season -Current kickers will make us miss The Jonathan Doerer Experience Come for debate, leave feeling excited about what Notre Dame what field defensively next year.
The guys are back to discuss the latest news coming out of Notre Dame spring camp, the addition of Tennessee State to the 2023 schedule, and some recruiting updates. Injuries have hounded an already thin receiver room, while depth has reflected at other positions like safety and linebacker. We discuss our reactions to the news that Notre Dame is playing Tennessee State in 2023, something that set Notre Dame Twitter ablaze last week. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the development. We'll also discuss the waiting and longing for a Dante Moore commitment, and what might be going on there.
The guys are back to discuss some of the biggest storylines around the Notre Dame football team entering spring practice. All eyes are on Tyler Buchner, but we're also curious to find out who is going to step up as a weapon for the young QB. After a disappointing finish to last season, the secondary remains a question mark, providing underclassmen with lots of opportunity this spring. We close with some notes on recruiting and the NCAA Tournament. Join us as we start to gear up for the start of another spring campaign.
The guys are back to discuss Notre Dame's coaching staff for the 2022 football season with Ashton Pollard from blueandgold.com. It's been over two months since Brian Kelly left Notre Dame to become the head coach at LSU, and after a series of unexpected twists and turns, new head coach Marcus Freeman finally has his first staff complete. We share our thoughts on each of the new hires and go over how each assistant ended up at Notre Dame. Please subscribe, rate, and review!
Former Notre Dame All-American left tackle Mike McGlinchey joins the show again to discuss his time with the San Francisco 49ers, Harry Hiestand's return to ND, why he returned for a fifth-year, playing in a Super Bowl, and a lot more.
We're back to discuss the 2021 season in full. After discussing the National Championship Game and touching on some news surrounding the roster and coaching staff, we do a retrospective on this year's campaign. Join us as we revisit our preseason predictions and revise those, where needed. We'll be back next week for a forward look at 2022, but tune in for one last look at a downright ridiculous 2021 season.
The guys are back to discuss Notre Dame's 37-35 loss to Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl. After jumping out to a 28-7 lead on the Cowboys, the Irish faltered, and the major bowl loss streak continues. We break down how it happened and what it all means. After closing the book on a disappointing end to the 11-2 Irish season, we discuss some roster and staff moves. More is expected to come in the coming weeks on that front, but tune in as we walk through what has already occurred.
The guys are back to discuss the NFL debut of the winningest quarterback in school history, Ian Book. Then, we share our thoughts on some of the news items coming out of South Bend over the past week regarding Notre Dame's future QB situation and potential staff hires. Does the staff believe in Tyler Buchner? Would Harry Hiestand be a good fit on this Notre Dame staff? Then, we break down the Fiesta Bowl against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. This OSU team is definitely not like the ones we've seen in recent years - they rely on their stout defense and running game. We predict how Notre Dame might game plan against the Cowboys, before giving our predictions.
The guys welcome back friends of the program Mike Singer and Matt Fortuna to talk everything Irish. Singer provides an in-depth recap of the Early Signing Period and Notre Dame's class of 2022, which currently sits at No. 7 in the Rivals Team Rankings. Then, Matt joins the show to discuss how Freeman was hired, and what Irish fans should expect from the new look Irish. Wishing all of our listeners a Happy Holidays, and we'll be back after Christmas for a preview of the Fiesta Bowl.
The guys are back to discuss Marcus Freeman's introductory press conference after he was officially announced as the new head coach of the Fighting Irish. Then, we discuss Notre Dame's bowl game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Fiesta Bowl. It's not the College Football Playoff, but we are both very excited about the opportunity. We close with some thoughts on Brian Kelly's….antics as of late. Tune in for all that and please, rate, review, and subscribe.
After two whirlwind days of speculation, Twitter refreshing, and little sleep for the Sons of Saturday, Marcus Freeman has been named Head Football Coach of the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish. Word broke late Wednesday evening, following news earlier in the evening that Friend of the Program Tommy Rees was staying on board as offensive coordinator. From there, more good news came in. The entire defensive staff (Mike Elston, Mike Mickens, and Chris O'Leary) is staying in South Bend, and they'll be joined by tight ends coach John McNulty and running backs coach Lance Taylor. We break down our emotions and try to analyze what this means for the program moving forward, and it for its immediate potential chance of crashing the College Football Playoff. Tune in for yet another special edition as we try to break down all of the craziness of this week.
Brian Kelly is leaving Notre Dame to become the next Head Football Coach at LSU. We talked about it.
The guys are back to preview Notre Dame's last game of the regular season as they hit the road to take on the Stanford Cardinal. First, we look back on our memories of the rivalry game and discuss the recent demise of the Stanford football program. How much is Coach David Shaw to blame? Well, to one of us, it's a lot. Then we take a look at what Stanford does offensively and defensively, before giving out some predictions at the end.
The guys are back to recap Notre Dame's 55-0 domination of Georgia Tech. There wasn't much of anything to be upset about in South Bend on Saturday, and we get into just why that was. A special day in South Bend cast a stronger glimmer of hope as it pertains to the College Football Playoff, and we're here to talk about all of that. Then, we bring in former Notre Dame running back and assistant coach Tyler Plantz to reflect on his decade around the program and to discuss the foundation he set up in memory of his brother and our friend, Zac. Tune in for a special episode with a great guest.
The Guys are back to preview Notre Dame's home finale against Georgia Tech. It's Senior Day in South Bend, and the Irish have a chance to reach 10 wins for the fifth straight season, which would mark a first in program history. We break down the significance of that before previewing Saturday's matchup. We discuss Senior Days past, good and bad, and discuss the College Football Playoff rankings. (Warning: There's a Michigan rant.) Tune in for all this and more.
The guys are back to recap Notre Dame's ho-hum 28-3 win over Brennan Armstrong-less UVa. The Irish faced a personnel shortage of their own on defense, with Drew White and MTA sidelined by a flu bug that hindered the rest of that side of the ball all week. Despite that adversity, the defense did not allow a touchdown for the second straight week. We discuss some younger players getting some more run, and applaud (sarcastically) some Notre Dame fans for still finding something to be angry about in a 25-point victory. After a boring, snoozy victory that brought Notre Dame's winning streak to 23 against ACC opponents in the regular season, we discuss the conference relationship in general, and how it's grown stale. To cap the show, we start to warm up the College Football Playoff fire. Tune in to hear us start to get our hopes up once again.
