One for the ages

WI are on "location"!   "Live" from Palm Desert, we catch up.  Christmas is over, we catch up.  We tackle some "reddit" input and some listener mail.   Are you open between Christmas and New Years?  Why or why not?   As a listener, are we considered friends?   So your hands shake when treating patients?

Ok.  Slightly more sober now.   We delve into Facebook groups and share advice.  Issue 1: New owner buys practice and will be FFS (fee for service).  Must you credential them?   Issue 2: PPO third party negotiator can't get all relevant info?  What to do?   Dental influencers.  Do you strain muscles patting yourself on the back?  Is your pity party well attended?   Peace.  

I can explain

We are back for more, giving Yapi love like we do...  Seriously, don't be dumb.   We traveled, but not together.  Ever done a solo trip?   Advice today was for 3 anonymous posts.  They really get around.  First: How do you handle a parent that you have never met that brings in long time pediatric patients and makes a scene?   If you only work 2 days per week but a new patient calls after hours, who makes the call?  Using a personal cell phone?   Adulting sucks.  If a parent tells their kid that they now pay their dental bill, but the kid won't pay, who is responsible?

So... are you adventurous?  Really?  Are you SURE...?   A weekend getaway becomes more memorable than planned.  Or WAS it?   Advice this week:    How do you handle patients that repeatedly no-show for their appointment?     Who do you work for?  The patient, or the person signing your check?

Mondays suck.  That's why we release on Wednesday.  But it doesn't fix Monday....   We stayed home.  No travel diary.  Boring.  Next episode will have some travel.  Promise.   Is it MANDATORY to give time off for a funeral?  Are you a heartless bastard?   Does the office have a cell phone?  How do you text?   At end of day, does everyone leave together?  If someone stays late, do you ALL stay late?!   All this begs the question, why did we apply to dental school?!?

Some of the best parts of travel is hearing the weirdest stuff from history.  Past generations were as messed up as we are!      We made our way to Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and Cologne.  Oh, yeah... for a dental meeting....

Tired of dental talk?  Good, because there is NONE during THIS episode.  Lance and Holly talk about their trip on the WAY to their trip to IDS.  This is how NOT to travel.   Or the PERFECT way....

Back into the CE groove!  Do you work IN your business or ON your business?  Me neither.   We hit Vegas for a weekend to get better at growing the practice, and since we are becoming more niche, we need a different approach.  And to see Wayne Newton.   Viva Las Vegas!

Ever taken CE and at the end decided "nope.  NOT doing that..."  Holly made that decision for Lance after their trip to Spain.     Lance took the Zaga Zygoma Implant class in Barcelona with Dr Carlos Aparicio   It was a fantastic experience, and of course, an adventure was worked in as well.  The trip started in Madrid, with a little tapas tasting, a cooking class, and just a general walkabout.     Then a quick train to Barcelona and the learning began!  "You'll shoot your eye out!"   Until next time!

so.... how did the seattle protocol begin?  Was it Holly's fault?   The show starts with a recap of Lance's bike accident.  Fun. We skip reddit and talk about subjects from Facebook groups, only to learn that all evils start with the RDH crowd....   PEACE

Ok.  Summer is over.  Holly is NOT happy, however, she DOES love Halloween, Thanksgiving...  Have you seen Hocus Pocus 2?

I did NOT see that coming.....

Ready for more WI?  Too bad....   If you start a scratch FFS practice, what does carefully planned and researched mean to YOU?  It may not mean what you think it means.   If you cover for another dental office, do you do it for free?  What IS the common courtesy?   PEACE!

The rant continues.  If you are an employee dentist, is the patient yours or the practice's?  If you left the practice, is it STILL your patient?  If you don't take a CBCT of the implant you placed but it SEEMED to go well, is that a success?  If the patient never returns, can we count it as a win?

So, we FINALLY have nice weather in Seattle.  To have less noise while we record, the AC was turned off.   Bad idea.   Holly is grumpy without wine.  She is grumpy-ER if she overheats....   So this was fun....

We are back!  Back from Chicago, before we head to Whistler, we took a moment, a quick minute.  Many wanted to hear HOLLY'S take on the annual list of 32 influencers from Incisal Edge magazine.   Even with fresh blood, "the song remains the same."   Peace!

Happy New Year!   What do you do when stars don't align and schedules suck?  You make lemonade!   Lance starts with talk about New Years' Eve travel.  Don't do it.   For the first time on THIS show, Lance's wife Holly shares HER perspective.  Buckle up.   How do you choose a consultant to help acquire/start a practice?  Be careful!   How old is TOO old to start a dental career path?  15?   Stay fresh!

It's the holiday season, which means great treats and eats for everyone.  Who doesn't love some great chocolate truffles?  Josh's dog Graham certainly does.  Which is why Josh ended up at an emergency vet clinic until 2 in the morning.    The boys spend waaaaaaay too long nit picking a great holiday movie.  Hey Sam….wanna hear more about how I shagged your mom?    Only one question this week….what do we do with ungrateful patients.  I have always thought the spelling of ungrateful was weird.  Shouldn't it be ungreatful?    Anyway, stay fresh and Merry Christmas.

Lance hit up the big city and reminisces on his trip.  Nothing is better than NYC at Christmas time.   Advice starts this week with a discussion about office staff gifts.  Lance has some old Tivo's in his garage if you need something last minute.    Should we serve our patients snacks?  Is this an Audi service department???    Finally…the subject of regifting.  What about regifting a toothbrush?  Great idea!  Reduce, reuse, recycle!     

Who doesn't love a dental meeting on Thanksgiving weekend?  Oh, yeah.  Everyone.  Nothing better than people sleeping in the front row!    Advice starts this week with a question about a nasty sneezy dentist.  Is that mask enough?  Do we need a body bag for this patient?    Does getting an implant make you disabled?  Maybe it should.    Did you get your Spotify Wrapped?  Lance didn't.  Loser.    Stay fresh  

We're back!  We took a couple weeks off due to some family things and travel schedules.  However, just like your mom's gravy, we are coming in hot and ready for Thanksgiving.    What are the best ways to heal cavities naturally?  How about a bukkake of fermented cod liver oil?  Sounds appetizing!    How greedy is a dentist for wanting to spend more time on someone who was 40 minutes late.  Total cash grab, amirite?  We are thankful for how much we hate patients like this.    Be safe out there, cheese bags.
