In this week's episode of the podcast, I share details of a powerful reminder of how our own internal conversations, can be holding us back from achieving the results we want to see in our business. An equation was shared with me several months ago, and that is, P = P – I. P is for Performance, and your performance equals your Potential minus Interferences. Performance is the overall performance of your business, with the second P being the ultimate potential of that business, in terms of the revenue it's making, the impact it's having, and then the I is the interferences, those external or sometimes internal interferences that is preventing your business from ultimately achieving the best performance that it can. Key TakeawaysOur relationship with money, the internal conversation that we are having with ourselves about money is all impacted by our sense of self worth, and self value. It's important in businesses to be visible. To be the front and center of minds when it comes to potential clients, seeing what we do, understanding the results that we can bring, and recognising that we are the company to help them achieve those results. It's is important to be able to recognise interferences, even before they actually become an interference. There needs to be a mechanism in place where we should pause, review what's going on, not only in our business directly, but also in our niche and industry as well.By understanding the gaps and what you can do to alleviate those gaps gives you the best chance to take that intentional action and stay ahead in your business and industry.Ask yourself these questions: What are those interferences that you know are currently holding you back in your business? What is stopping you and your business from achieving its full of potential? And what are you going to do about them? Meghan Goode is a therapist and survivor who, after a lifetime of recovery, is a true warrior. She shares her story of being assaulted by a group of three males that she was familiar with in the spring of 1987 in her early teens. Having been abused by her parents and bullied by her peers, she shares how her life was impacted by what these "community heroes" had done to her. From substance abuse to a suicide attempt, it wasn't until Meghan got her masters in counseling and began to help other victims that she started to heal. She grew to want to become an advocate for others like her and, after years of compartmentalization, finally felt like her assault no longer owned her. Topics/Triggers: Her assault, what happened after, and compartmentalization Shame and guilt due to being drunk and being bullied Substance abuse Suicide attempt Reconnecting with her bullies and abusers decades later due to social media The statute of limitations Her journey to becoming a therapist and beginning her EMDR certification Interferences to her recovery Legal Cases Mentioned: Steubenville, Stanford, and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ If you took anything away from today's podcast, please share it with someone who may need to hear it. We're going to dive right in to listener questions in this Pinks and Blues episode because today is all about testing for Chlorine. Chlorine is the most well-known of the Halogen elements, a group of Oxidizing Agents. So, if you catch me using these words interchangeably, it's because they are! As a quick chemistry refresher, a Halogen is the chemical that forms a salt when it reacts with a metal. There are 5 Halogens in the Periodic Table: Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine and you can find the whole column of Halogens the column second furthest to the right. In Cooling Towers, we typically use Chlorine or Bromine. By the way, whatever you use, make sure it is registered for that usage. There are two methods of testing Halogen: OT (Orthotolidine) and DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine), which is the method many of us prefer because it allows us to have a free or total test. Are you curious yet about testing for Halogens? Today, we are going to talk about all things Halogens. From differentiating the types of Halogens, to understanding the different testing methods, and to the importance of having a Water Management Plan to make our jobs easier. Bottom line: Let's learn about testing for Halogen in a Water System. Your roadside friend, as you travel from client to client. -Trace Timestamps: Starting a podcast, being a guest on other's podcasts, accomplishing your goals [01:01] Events in Water Treatment [09:54] Thinking On Water With James [15:29] Answering your questions for this week's Pinks and Blues: Testing for Halogen in the System [16:39] Identifying Halogens [19:01] Understanding the different HalogenTests: OT Test (Orthotolidine) and the DPD Method (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) [22:31] Too much Halogen in the system [26:00] Interferences with Halogen Tests [28:28] Differentiating Free, Combined, and Total Halogen [32:03] Identifying the best test to use [35:59] The advantages of having a water management plan [39:09] Put it into practice [42:51] Thinking On Water With James: In this week's episode, we're thinking about whether the brine tank on your softener system reaches 100% saturation between softener regenerations. Do you know? Have you ever measured % brine saturation in your brine? How would you measure % saturation? When is the best time to measure it? If it is not reaching 100% saturation, can anything be done to improve it? What is the impact upon softener regeneration with less than 100% brine saturation? Take this week to think about the % brine saturation in your softener system's brine tank. Quotes: “A Halogen is a chemical that forms a salt when it reacts with a metal, and there are five Halogens in the Periodic Table: Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine.” - Trace Blackmore “Halogens are highly reactive, which means they are quick to form bonds with other elements.” - Trace Blackmore “Oxidizers are solids, liquids, or gasses that react readily with most Organic Materials or Reducing Agents with very little energy that has to go into them.” - Trace Blackmore “A Reducing Agent is a substance that can be oxidized by losing some of its electrons. An Oxidizing Agent is a substance that can be reduced by gaining electrons.” - Trace Blackmore “We generally use Chlorine or Bromine, and we will commonly hear them referred to as either Oxidizers or Halogens.” - Trace Blackmore “What Halogens are you using, and why are you using those?” - Trace Blackmore “The OT Test (Orthotolidine) only tests for Total Halogen.” - Trace Blackmore “The DPD Method (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) can test for both Free and Total Halogen.” - Trace Blackmore “Your Tests are your Tools. Don't run your Test, and have your test tell you what to do next. Your Test only confirms or disproves any theory that you have.” - Trace Blackmore “Diagnose first and then use a test to confirm.” - Trace Blackmore “Free (Halogen) is the amount of Oxidizer in the system that hasn't been combined with anything yet. It is Free to react; therefore Free is the amount of quick kill agent you have in your system to sanitize contaminants” - Trace Blackmore “The Total Oxidizer is the amount of Free Oxidizer that you have plus the amount of Oxidizer that has combined with other Contaminants. So Free + Combined = Total” - Trace Blackmore “Combined Oxidizer is the amount of Oxidizers that has combined with Organics.” - Trace Blackmore “Make sure that whatever you are using is registered for that intended use.” - Trace Blackmore Connect with Scaling UP! Do you have ringing in your ears? Pulsing, buzzing, pressure? Many of us have experienced this ringing at some point in our lives and just brushed it away. Aside from medical and neurological reasons, ringing in the ears are highly related to energetic interferences. In this episode we explore why we get these high frequencies in our ears and how to deal. _____________________ ▲ Healing Arts Practitioner Training Program Immersion: www.alwaysplay.org/immersion ▲Become a certified breathwork facilitator or sound healer: https://www.alwaysplay.org ▲ The Playground Monthly Membership: A guided self-exploration for the Mystical & Magical www.alwaysplay.org/theplayground ▲ Read my book Breathe: www.alwaysplay.org/breathe ▲ Connect on social: @shanila.sattar ▲ YouTube: https://youtube.com/c/shanilasattar Music: Armeen Musa, Shara Dao

How do you like your Interferences? Drilled, of course.... Brady Smith from Drilled joins Josh and Lance to solve all the worlds problems, meeting Dr Drew and Steve O, and talk about working for free. Suck it, hygienists. Question 1 is about suing your dental school if you fail boards. How much does that cost? Volume discount? Class action? Does Tort pie taste like flan? Question 2, do pregnant team members ruin the VIP experience? Don't babies suck?

Who knows if this will make it through, but Alan tries once again to #wrestlecast to his #wrestlecastnation despite the interferences of RSS-feed-owners, ex-executive-producers, space-aliens, wackadoo-patrons, Earth-shape-groups, men-in-black and whoever the heck else wants to prevent him from completing the hard work of his blood, sweat, and tears. If this episode did somehow make it through you will hear him further explore the question that appears to have no end: "Why do I #wrestlecast?" ringoftyranny@gmail.com // http://patreon.com/ringoftyranny // www.loganpatrickhill.com // music: http://kevinhirth.bandcamp.com // We have no idea if this podcast is still 100% space-alien free, but we certainly hope it is. Sorry, special-agent Clinton.. :(

Clint Timmerman joins in with the Interferences this week to talk about a real charity, bringing digital dentistry to Tanzania. Advice starts this week with a question about making living room consults feel welcome…or unwelcome. Seriously, GTFO of my house, lady. Would you like some durian? What are these white Gushers? Second question is about a repeating repeater assistant. Newsflash….JOSH AND LANCE don’t mind. Our Reddit tonight is about “tooth engraving” whatever the fuck that is. In a moment of brilliance the boys come up with a million dollar idea. Stay fresh, cheese bags. Reach Clint at cst25@hotmail.com

Well…time kind of got away from Josh and Lance this episode. While reviewing the Benco Dental Incisal Edge Magazine list of the Top 32 Most Influential People in Dentistry, Josh and Lance lost their minds. They spent 30 minutes hyperventilating about the insanity on the list. You really don’t want to miss it. Now, its not advice. But their advice they usually give isn’t really advice, so you really aren’t missing much. The guys get around to answering one listener question after the Benco Debacle…what happens when you work so hard you piss your pants. Well…as Billy Madison once said, “You ain’t cool…unless you piss your pants.” Enjoy it all you sexy sexy Interferences out there! FYI, the Suicide Prevention Lifeline is here: 1-800-273-8255

Dr Lance Timmerman DMD, Tukwila Dentist was born and raised in Kirkland and is first and foremost a family man. He has a beautiful wife and three active daughters that keep him very busy. While dedicated to dentistry, he also has a variety of activities to keep active. He has been a snow skier since a young age, but now avoids the crazy black diamond runs that he blasted down in his youth while barely slowing down. For a while he was a “dune rider” on an ATV, but after a few broken ribs, he moved on from that as a hobby. At one point he tried his hand at triathlons, but soon learned that he would only run if someone was chasing him and gave up running. However, despite the cycling scandals, Dr Timmerman is an avid fan of cycling and the Tour de France, having flown overseas on several occasions to watch and has even ridden up the famous Alpe d'Huez more than once (although VERY slowly). In his younger days he lived in France and is fluent in French, which enhances his love for the people and country of France. He is even a little “snobbish” when it comes to crepes (including the pronunciation). He feels that a true cosmetic dentist is an artist, and to prove he is artistic, has even displayed his works of art in his office, including a sculpture he made with his own hands, proving his gifted eye for art. Despite his love for art, he has a hard time finding time to devote to it, and spends most of his time doing dentistry, whether teaching other dentists, learning more of the disciplines, or treating patients. After graduating from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dental Medicine in 1998, Seattle cosmetic dentist Dr. Lance Timmerman has been helping people in and around Seattle with personal, caring and advanced treatment. Dr. Timmerman's advanced procedures are designed to improve the health and appearance of their smiles. Dr. Timmerman has not only learned the lessons that only experience can teach, he has continued his dental education with courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) and John Kois Center for Dental Excellence. His membership in dental organizations and certifications allow him to keep current in the various aspects of dental care that matter to his patients and demonstrate his knowledge and skill. An emerging leader in dentistry, he offers the latest in dental care for his patients. Dr. Timmerman takes pride in his skill, his experience, and his training, but he knows that dental excellence also means giving each patient appropriate and personal care. As a cosmetic dentist, he takes the time to listen to his patients and to make sure every patient fully understands their condition and their treatment options. He will explain everything in plain language and answer all your questions so you can make an informed decision about your treatment plan. Dr. Timmerman is co-author of the book “A Cup Of Coffee With 10 Of The Top Cosmetic Dentists in the United States: Valuable insights you should know before you have cosmetic dental work done” now available on Amazon, and the doctor has recently been featured in the news! Top Cosmetic Dentists in the United States He also host his own podcast called Working Interferences with Josh Austin another dentist in San Antonio Texas.
Josh is back with Lance this week and the Interferences are whole again. The show starts with a taste test of the hot, new Dentsply Sirona potato chips. I hope you like listening to people eat, because you are about to get about 12 minutes of it. Advice starts with a conflict between families in Hawaii that could lead to an interesting cage match. A dentist asks if he should hook a patient up with Smile Direct Club. What do you think our thoughts on that are? Eat shit, SDC. Choke on a bag of dicks. We have a Reddit question from someone who SHOULD NOT BE ON REDDIT. Apologies for the tech difficulties this week. Mercury was in retrograde.

The Working Interferences are back this week and start off discussing a big speaking gig Josh has coming up. Lance gives Josh some advice before the advice this week, which consists of three Reddit Questions! They start off with a simple question….How do you know if a dentist is good? After a nice discussion of dental skills competition, the Interferences answer a question about instrument transportation cases. Is leather autoclavable? To wrap the show, Lance and Josh talk about how much of their brain they use. For Lance its little. For Josh, its more of the little brain than the big brain, if you know what I mean!
Our next two guests need no introductions. Dr. Joshua Austin and Dr. Lance Timmerman have decided to put their sick minds together and create a podcast on their own— called "Working Interferences." Check them out on iTunes and on Reddit, where you can submit questions and have them answer them on their show!
Finally some ladies up in this house! Erin Elliott joins the Interferences this week for a few TOUGH questions. We start off trying to figure out how Craig can fire his brain cancer ridden front desk without being a monster. Take a guess how that goes. Next, we talk about Alex’s practice purchase and how to prevent the seller from telling his team right before Christmas. We finish the show with some self-dentistry talk because a patient in Seattle complained about veneer prices. Way to go, Lance.

Josh opens the show by grilling Lance about a full mouth case on the worst kind of tourist…a dental tourist. The advice this week centers around what would be the best drug for your dental team members to be addicted to. A question about endodontic irrigation leads to a stunning accusation by Josh against the President of the United States. Finally, the Interferences talk about oral sex with dentures.

Tamar and Christine are talking about what happened to some notable 'ships when "real life" got in the way - everything from an actor deciding to move on from the series to what happens when real life couples became exes, causing an on-screen breakup. Television works because we allow ourselves to become immersed in the world. Do writers owe us an explanation within that world, or are short and sweet farewells good enough? How much do actors owe fans when deciding to move on? We're talking about these things and more! Keep the conversation going! Find us on social media @shippingroompod and let us know what you think!
