Nick and Angela are joined by Aussie comedian and BBQ King, Adam Hills, MBE. Adam Hills began performing comedy at 19, toured ten solo shows internationally and presented several TV shows in Australia before he made the move to the UK. In 2012, he was asked to front The Last Leg with Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe, a show created to run alongside the London Paralympics coverage on Channel 4. The programme was such a hit with viewers that it quickly became a permanent fixture. Adam is a real foodie and recently opened a restaurant with former Nobu head chef, Scott Hallsworth; Freak Scene is a ‘Pan-Asian punk' eatery in Parsons Green. Angela prepares some sticky pork ribs for our guest (which he adores) and a tasty spicy cabbage salad. As Adam has taken a break from the booze, Nick prepares an alcohol-free cocktail, a Cucumber Collins. Should you wish to pair this meal with a wine, Waitrose recommends Dr Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett. In conversation, Adam shares why he can't say no to Russell Crowe, the challenges of presenting a live TV show from his garage in Sydney and his new kids book Murder at the Movies, which is out now. Just so you know, our podcast might contain the occasional mild swear word or adult theme. All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can't all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help. Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she'll try to answer in a future episode. Dish is a S:E Creative Studio production for Waitrose & Partners. Learn more about your ad choices. SEASON 3 IS HERE!And our first episode is with presenter and comedian Alex Brooker; best known for his work on Channel 4's The Last Leg. In May 2019, his Dad Gordon passed away suddenly while Alex was at a corporate event hundreds of miles away. In this episode, Alex shares the huge impact the death of his dad has had on his life so far. We cover so much in this episode and there's laughs (obviously) and tears (of course) but more than anything, there's a real sense of compassion and genuine kindness in the way Alex discusses his own grief experience - both towards himself and how others cope. Here's an idea of what you can expect:What life was like growing up and how his career beganThe story behind losing his dad Feelings of guilt in grief The feelings of needing to support his brothers through their grief and lives Going back to work Talking to his kids We hope you enjoy our first episode back for Series 3! When the very funny and charming Alex Brooker was a kid, there weren’t many people like him on TV. So he grew up thinking there weren’t many people like him at all. He’s worked to change that, and here the hugely popular journalist and TV host tells Danny and Phil about girls, the week he drank nothing but pepper juice, and the day he discovered a genuinely world-champion level skill he had no idea he had. Boyd and Josh were joined by friend of the podcast, television star Alex Brooker to look back on a frustrating season. Boyd and Alex reflect on what it was like being back at the Emirates for a final day victory, with Boyd enjoying even more space than usual in Club Level as his butler delivered his drinks to his table. How will no European football impact us? Who will stay, who needs to come in and how long will Arteta get to put it right?
