For Dr. Kate Gross, her father’s influence and mentorship guided her career choice. “Growing up in a ‘dental family’ I watched the relationships that my dad built with his patients and his patients’ families. I liked how he made a difference in their lives and their confidence levels.” Dr. Kate loves the challenge of general dentistry and the gratification of beautifying patients’ smiles. “There’s never a dull day in the dental office. Each patient and each tooth is different, and I love how dentistry pushes me to use my brain in unique ways to problem solve each day.” One of the best parts of being a dentist is winning over kids and scared patients. She takes the task of being an advocate and trusted healthcare provider very seriously. “Going to the dentist should be an enjoyable, if not FUN, experience. I take it very seriously to make all of our patients’ first (and subsequent) appointments go smoothly, and the development of our relationship is a high priority to me. Being a trusted advocate for a patient through each part of the experience is one of the most rewarding parts of my days.” Dr. Kate was motivated to go down the health care path, and at first thought that the best fit for her would be medical schoolan affinity for the medical field was always a driving force. She seriously considered being a medical doctor, but decided she’d rather be a dentist like her own father. “My priorities shifted – I didn’t want to be in school for eight additional years after college, and I didn’t want the pressure of life or death decisions. “When I was young, I viewed dental care as going to see my dad! However, I hear each day from my patients that the dental office is a very intimidating place for many. I want to change all of that. It fuels my passion to get someone’s mouth healthy, all the while making them comfortable and changing their perception of dentistry.” I saw all the benefits that my dad had from being a dentist, I liked his lifestyle, and the way he could touch his patients’ lives and be a very hands-on parent during my own childhood. Today dentistry allows me to have a nice balance between professional and personal life, while satisfying my ambition to be in a health care related field.” Dr. Gross earned her Bachelor of the Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in 1998, and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002. She has continued to learn more about dentistry and patient care through continuing education in orthodontics and oral sedation. In fact, Dr. Kate has logged over 300 hours in orthodontic continuing education alone, gaining her Achievement status in the credentialing process through the American Orthodontic Society. The dental group she has built with her husband, Dr. Guy Gross, is a source of pride and achievement. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather work than side-by-side with my husband, my father (2002-2013 when he retired), and my brother (2013 to present). “It is truly a family practice - one that was built on my family working together - and one that takes care of families at every stage of life experience. The best part of my job is the deeply caring, highly skilled, and truly awesome professionals that I work side-by-side with. Aside from my family, these are the people that I spend the most time with, and I greatly value them and enjoy their company!” When she’s not helping creating lasting beautiful smiles, Dr. Kate serves as a board member of DVACK, an organization that helps women and children get back on their feet after the devastation of violence and abuse in their home lives, and supports AMBUCs. She enjoys being outdoors; whether it is running, gardening, swimming, skiing, watching her kids’ play sports, or chilling on the patio—the great outdoors is her happy place. She loves spending time with her husband and their 3 children, and is blessed to have her parents, in-laws, and many extended family members living here in Salina to cultivate strong family ties. Given a year off to do anything, Dr. Gross says she would take the kids out of school and take an epic around-the-world vacation, living in and experiencing new cultures, foods, people, and places.

Dr. Brower received scholarships to attend the University of South Dakota after graduating from Washington High School in Sioux Falls South Dakota in 1990. He completed his studies in 3 years while finishing with Cum Laude honors and received a scholarship to attend the Number 1 ranked dental school in the nation which was the University of Minnesota at that time. He found he had a strong interest and ability in dental implants and orthodontics while at the University of Minnesota. During his studies there he accepted a Health Professional Scholarship from the United States Army where he received advanced training at Tripler Army Medical Center from 1995-1997 on Oahu over a period of 2 years. He specifically worked side by side with a gifted team of oral surgeons and an orthodontist that ran the US Army residency training program. After 4 years he graduated from the University of Minnesota with Honors, and in 1997 accepted an officers commission in the Army where he requested his initial duty station to be in Germany. He was granted his wish and was again allowed to train with a group or oral surgeons, orthodontist, and a board certified prosthodontist. He continued his advanced training for 2 years in Germany and then moved back to the US where he worked in a clinic in Louisiana with 26 other dentists. Upon completion of his military tour and honorable discharge Dr. Brower moved to the midwest with his wife Peggy and their family to pursue larger family and settle down into private practice. Dr. Brower's advanced training allows him to perform many procedures that other general dentists have not received the training to perform in office which gives patients great comfort when considering being "referred out" when something needs to be done. By allowing one practitioner to see all aspects of the same case and not having each piece looked at by someone different over a wide range of times amazing results can be achieved. In no other way can multiple specialty procedures be combined into one appointment as you can see from the photos of our wonderful patients on the site. Dr. Brower began restoring and placing implants in 1997 and continues to be heavily involved in the forefront of implant therapy in the U.S. He has placed and restored over 8,000 dental implants since 1997 and helped develop two independent dental implant lines for manufacturers. He teaches live surgery courses in his offices with doctors coming from all over the world to see him perform live surgery multiple times per year. Dr. Brower believes in being a lifelong learner and strives to also teach others whenever possible. Dr. Brower has received the highest honors possible to achieve and received his diplomate status with the International Academy of Dental Implants, International Congress of Oral Implantology, and the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants. He holds Fellowship status in the American Academy of Small Diameter Implants, and is a lifetime member of the American Orthodontic Society where he can also be seen as a featured speaker. He maintains active membership in the the American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association and dental licenses in good standing in California, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Dr. Brower is adjunct faculty at the University of South Dakota. He can be seen at the University of South Dakota Chemistry department website giving a lecture on organic chemistry with Dr. Griforiy Sereda on the pH of saliva and it's effects. Dr. Brower actively helps their organic chemistry department to develop new kinds of dental products to help prevent and restore cavities. Dr. Brower has lectured and taught dental implantology internationally and been a keynote speaker at the University of California San Diego where he was filmed for international training of other dentists. His implant videos can be see on the dentinal tubules network which is the largest depository of dental knowledge on the planet. Dr. Brower is faculty for the International Academy of Dental Implants and a featured keynote speaker in China and England where implant dentistry is fast becoming something every dental practitioner there performs. He also teaches orthodontics (braces) and publishes/lectures for the American Orthodontic Society, runs dental forums for orthodontics and dental implants, and moderates the conversations of hundreds of dentists every day. He is an American Dental Association accredited and approved continuing education lecturer, and has continuing education available through www.dentaltown.com which is the world's largest gathering of dentists on the current state of implant prosthetics in the 21st century. www.SmilesForSiouxland.com
