Dr. Kemmet grew up on a farm near Tappen, ND where his father farms and runs a water/irrigation well drilling company. His father jokes that he stayed in the family business drilling holes. The rest of Dr. Kemmet's family, his mother and sister, are registered nurses. It is easy to see why dentistry, with its hands-on, practical application to medicine was a draw to him with his solid North Dakota born and bred background! Uniquely, Dr. Kemmet attended a boarding high school in West St. Paul, MN, St. Croix Lutheran High School, then received his degree in Chemistry from NDSU in Fargo. He went on to receive his degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 2007. Dr. Kemmet initially practiced in South Dakota for nearly 3 years with the Indian Health Service before joining a residency program in Oklahoma for an additional year after that. He then moved back to Minneapolis for 2 years and worked for a large private practice group dental office, as well as for Children's Dental Services, a low-income high-need dental service where he practiced throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Head Start facilities, grade schools, and middle schools. In 2012, Dr. Kemmet made the decision to move back “home” to North Dakota. To him, Minot was the perfect blend of city and country. He purchased the dental practice of Dr. Curtis Kumpf, and within 18 months had relocated his practice, freshly redesigned by his friend Chris Hawley, to its current location in the heart of the Town & Country Center Mall. Dr. Kemmet loves family time with his wife Grace and their three children, two dogs and cat. They are always finding ways to road trip for a hike in the mountains, fishing with his friends for charity, or finding a concert to attend. His life hobby has been prairie dog “hunting” which really is just long-distance precision shooting. They are currently enjoying gardening, home renovations, and anything else they can do together. Professionally Dr. Kemmet doesn't seem to know the meaning of slowing down. He is always looking to advance not only his own knowledge, but the field of dentistry itself in the rapidly changing field of airway related dentistry and growth and development, where his passion lies. He has mentored classes at Spear Education in Scottsdale Arizona since 2010 in areas from same-day crowns with CEREC technology, to treatment planning, and now focusing on Airway. In addition to running Kemmet Dental Design, Dr. Kemmet is working to change how dentistry is taught in ND. It was Dr Kemmet's vision of helping our community of dentistry in ND through increased access to dental hygiene and assistant training. He believes we have just scratched the surface of where we need to be. He has a goal to double our Nursing classes in Minot as well as triple our Dental Hygiene and assisting classes to help alleviate our national shortage and grow our community. To accomplish this, he envisions a full dental hygiene clinic where extern dentists from regional dental schools can complete their training and current dental assistants and hygienists from other areas in our country can also learn expanded function dentistry. This would help alleviate the demand for dental services in west and northwest ND and help our city and state residents with the best care possible. Fires start with a spark, and he has no shortage of fire in his passion for dentistry. Marvel Comics has pitched a new superhero movie, though Dr Kemmet doesn't want anyone to think that this is fantasy. It's for real life, as Bluey would say.

This is certainly a story of love, compassion, inclusion and service. First, though, we must get out of the way that the older ladies in the practice say that he is a “Strapping Young Man”! One team member tells the story of arriving at the practice and being told that “our office is like a family”. She kind of rolled her eyes and just went with it because that's what most offices say. Then she told about the unexpected passing of her brother just four months later and the love and kindness and support she received from the entire team led by her doctor. AND...how over the years she has watched this same compassion shown to so many both inside and outside of the practice who have faced hardship. He is the gatherer...the one who brings everyone together to see how collectively just the right support can be achieved. He started his dental practice from scratch at the same time he was serving in very time-consuming responsibilities in his church and community. He accomplished this with a wife who had severe health challenges which kept her home-bound most of the time. Despite those obstacles he is the most enthusiastic cheerleader for his kids, provides endless service to his neighborhood and has been on a humanitarian trip each year to the Dominican Republic since he graduated from Dental School.Shortly said, he lives a life of purpose...on purpose. He has created a culture of success in his practice, cares deeply for his team, his own family and his community. He cares about his own professional growth and has extended that to his team. For all of this, including his unconditional kindness, he is MAGNIFICENT. For outstanding individual achievement please recognized...Dr. Brandon Robison.

Honesty guides me at all times because patients like you trust me with your health. I go home each day feeling good about what I do. My daily inspiration is helping you believe in your health. It is a reward to help you achieve a comfortable and confident smile. I am just a catalyst, but you are the one who takes ownership, invests in, and maintains your oral health. I am so fortunate to be part of the process. I am originally from a small town in Southern California and I completed my undergraduate education at University of California, Berkeley. I later graduated with high honors from University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. After ten years in San Francisco, I moved to Albuquerque to practice with Dr. Charles Gallagher. It was an opportunity I could not pass up. Academy Dental Care is an outstanding dental office, as you will soon find out! We have wonderful and highly skilled team members who love spending time with each other outside of the office. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by our family, who help us take care of them during the week. My passion is riding my peloton. Hope you can keep up! Or you might catch us skiing in Taos, playing tennis with our kids, cheering them on at swim meets, or playing a few twilight holes on the golf course."
As the Founder of Kids Tooth Team, Dr. Alex's goal was to create a pediatric dental office unlike any other. After nearly a decade of being in the profession, it became clear to her that dental offices were becoming more and more about the doctor and insurance companies and less about the patients and the families they serve. Dr. Alex hated seeing families waiting forever to see the doctor, only to be told that there was only one way to do things (the doctor's way of course!). It drove her crazy to hear sales pitches or anyone recommending unnecessary treatment, especially to a child. And not to mention the lost look on a parent's face as some random person in the office confusingly tried to explain an insurance plan or how much you may owe - they may as well have been speaking a different language. She knew that Kids Tooth Team had to do things differently. Dr. Alex is here to serve you and your child - bottom line! As a pediatric specialist with years of residency training and private practice experience, she offers a wide variety of minimally-invasive and surgically complex services. You can rest assured that Dr. Alex has extensive experience providing compassionate care, no matter your child's needs. Dr. Alex takes your time very seriously and has many protocols in place at the office to ensure you aren't waiting to see her, have a say in every step of the process, and stay informed about your insurance and coverage. She cares deeply about you and your family - something that you will sense the second you walk into our doors. There will never be a sales pitch and you will never hear the words: “This is the only way to do it.” We are here to offer you options that fit your child and their needs as well as your parenting philosophy, lifestyle, and budget.
While graduating and finding a job at the start of a pandemic was stressful, this one young dentist wasted no time deciding to work at a community health center. Inspired by her own heritage, she entered dentistry with a passion to change discrepancies in oral health, especially in minority populations with patient education and compassion. What else has stood out to you as you've worked with this nominee for the Young Dentist of the Year award. Dr. Cherish Dunshee served her peers at Roseman University by serving as Class President for 3 years, as well as the Study Body President. As a natural leader, she was both loved and respected by her peers and the faculty for her kindness and empathy for everyone. Her desire to bring people together and listen to their concerns are qualities she now shares with her patients at Sacred Circle Healthcare. When she isn't seeing patients she finds joy spending time outside with her husband and daughter. Together they enjoy all of the beautiful landscapes Utah has to offer hiking and snowboarding or attending concerts. The Crown Council has been served by some of the best young leaders in dentistry. We are grateful to honor the newest Young Dentist of the Year carry on the tradition of upcoming leaders.

Dr. Justin Libby is about as Alaskan as they come. Born in Dillingham, he grew up in Anchorage and cut his teeth on the same Last Frontier experiences that make this state the place we all love. Skiing, fishing, biking, hiking, surfing, running and basketball were just some of the many active things he learned to do with his family. Dr. Libby spent summers commercial fishing in Dillingham with his dad, mom, brother, and family friends, picking salmon and manning the set-nets on a good day and cleaning the boats and making repairs on the others. Now, he continues to return there every summer to fish, bringing his wife and new son with him to continue the family fishing tradition. As soon as you meet him, you can feel the passion that Dr. Libby has for people and for making them smile. He brings a tangible excitement to every room, and continually pushes himself and the staff at The Libby Group to excel in what they do. He is the kind of guy who will sit with patients, listening to their life stories and laughing about experiences, before beginning a cutting-edge dental procedure. He is inspired to give back to his community, passionate about supporting local businesses and making Anchorage and Alaska a better place.

How do you create a professional Mastermind Group? It's your personal board of directors for your professional success. Napoleon Hill wrote and taught extensively for decades. Throughout his career, he advocated the use of mastermind groups as a way of taking your personal and professional life to the next level. Hill originally said that when two people got together, a third mind, the Master Mind, was created. To him, it was a separate force in the conversation and had an energetic connotation. Mastermind groups offer a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. A mastermind group helps you and your mastermind group members achieve success. Members challenge each other to set strong goals, and more importantly, to accomplish them. The Crown Council is the place to find like-minded peers to join a Mastermind Group with.

His work ethic drew the attention of the faculty and he was awarded the Dean Prince Award for leadership. His drive and determination lead him to perform the most clinicals, which also allowed him to graduate with the award for Top Clinical Dentist. During his clinical practice, Dr. Spencer explored advanced training courses in endodontics, providing him with knowledge and experience with more complicated endodontic cases. His pursuit of knowledge continues in the years since his graduation. Dr. Spencer understands the value of continued education and strives to learn the most current techniques available to provide the best care for his patients. After graduation, Dr. Spencer moved to Rancho Santa Margarita, California, where he practiced for nearly two years. In 2011, he moved to the San Diego area, where he provides cosmetic, preventative dentistry, and family dentistry services at his dental office in La Jolla. Meet Dr. Lincoln Parker of Hales Parker Dentistry in Ladera Ranch, CA. La-dera Ranch is a community located in south Orange County, California, just outside the city limits of San Juan Capistrano. 2010 census had 22,980 people living in Ladera Ranch. Dr. Parker was born and raised in Orange County, CA and considers it the greatest place to live on earth. Even last week when I was arranging this podcast with him he was driving home from Redwood National Park with his family and said it was his favorite place to go with his family. He attending Brigham Young University for his undergraduate education where he also met and married his wife Mimi. Then they moved to Las Vegas to attend dental school at the University of Las Vegas. It was there that Dr. Parker says, "I was exposed to many aspects of dental care. It was a newer school and that afforded me the opportunity to experience the latest in technology. There I was also able to push my skills beyond typical dental schools due to the faculty's desire to give us as much clinical experience as possible." He is a passionate learner and has created an environment that focused on the long term relationships and health of his patients, and maybe he will talk about this a little today, but he went to work for a corporate owned dental practice right out of school. It was there learned what type of practice he wanted to own - and great topic for today. You can feel Dr. Parker's passion for his profession and helping people by just visiting his website, spending some time on his social media pages and watching a few of the videos he has recorded of what his patients say about him. We are grateful to have him with us today to talk about his journey creating a practice from scratch and what he learned along the way. www.crowncouncil.com www.youngdentistprogram.com

“Back surgery is your only option…" This statement inspired Dr. Eric Goodman to overcome a seriously bad back. Severe, years long debilitating lower back pain had been hanging over Dr. Goodman’s upcoming Chiropractic career. A year before graduation his pain hit and held its climax for several months. This was a maddening experience. After dedicating years of his life and all of his money to learn how the body worked, he was well-educated, yet stuck in daily pain with a diagnosis of severe Degenerative Joint Disease at the spine. Sympathetic doctors told him the only way to possibly relieve his pain was to undergo a painful back surgery: legitimate fusion of his lowest spine. But Dr. Goodman said NO to surgery – one of the best decisions he had ever made. Foundation Training’s birth was due to his belief that corrective movement could be the answer to his pain and give him back his mobility, health, and life. It’s been over a decade since that decision and in that time, tens of thousands of people have found similar pain relief and healing through Foundation Training. Dr. Goodman and the Foundation Training team stand confidently behind this work as our best available answer to our pain and yours.
Dr. Ray McKinley graduated from University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1974. He has provided state-of-the-art dental care in Macomb County for over 40 years. Dr. McKinley’s daughter Brittany joined the practice in the summer of 2011, upon her completion of her dental degree from The University of Detroit, School of Dentistry. Dr. McKinley remains on the cutting edge of technology, striving to provide the highest quality of dental care available today. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Macomb County Dental Society. He has also served as member of the Michigan Dental Association Peer Review Committee. This year, Dr. McKinley continued his 12 year tradition of teaching a class to a group of wonderful juniors and seniors at Lutheran High North called Business Character Values. Several of his staff members join him in teaching this class by mentoring a student. Born in Detroit, Ray is one of 12 children born to Dr. Otis and Phyllis McKinley, of Fraser. Ray, along with all of his brothers, followed in the footsteps of his father and became a dentist. Dr. McKinley’s daughter, Brittany, graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2011 and is now continuing the family tradition into the 3rd generation! The McKinley Family has provided dental care in Macomb County and throughout the State of Michigan for over 65 years. Ray is part of a family with a history of hard work, including building McKinley Airport in Fraser, learning to fly solo by age 16, the development of Pine Valley Golf Course in Romeo, past president of the Romeo Chamber of Commerce, former president of the Romeo Kiwanis Club, a delegate to Washington DC’s Conference for Small Business, and building numerous dental offices throughout Michigan. Ray continues to stay involved in growing and developing his community. Ray and his wife Lynn have six children, and five grandchildren. Ray has written the book, "Ride the Elephant". Ride the Elephant calls out the elephant in the room that holds you back, that has been hiding in plain sight, then challenges you with questions and answers you have never considered before. You will dive very deep, if you allow yourself to go that far, into why we act, think and behave as we do. You will likely see that today’s normal daily reactions are really creating a waterfall event with those around you. The interplay of so many feelings and reactions like hate, blame, excuses, accountability, judgment, fear, and pride are examined. You will begin to consider how this juxtaposition of emotions are creating havoc in your life – like “the elephant in the room.” https://raymckinley.com
The Crown Council was first introduced to Jon Acuff by Crown Council member Dr. Dennis Wells who takes care of Jon’s oral health. At the Annual Event in Nashville in 2015 where he presented to us about his book “Do Over.” Then 3 years later he returned to the Annual Event stage to share his presentation about his next book “Finish: Give Yourself the Gift of Done”. That is a rare feet - getting on the stage of the Annual Event twice put you into a pretty elite club. Now, we are on to Jon’s new book “Soundtracks” The Surprising Solution to Overthinking” It’s already a New York Times Bestseller (after two weeks) which is an amazing accomplishment considering Jon hasn’t been doing live events because of the Corona Virus. Jon is also a New York Time best selling author of 6 other books and if you follow Jon on Social Media you will find an inspiring blend of humor, honesty and hope. And he is killing it in the social world with 300,000 Twitter followers, 187,000 Facebook followers and 125,000 Instagram Followers. Jon loves Snowbird and skiing which connects us in a very special way. Steve and I grew up shredding on the hills of Snowbird in Utah. I also learned listening to the audio version of Soundtracks that he wears his Snowbird t-shirt almost daily. Kudos. But...and this the end of the introduction as an FYI at the last Annual Event in Nashville (2020) we hosted and planned the “Gift of Music” benefit concert at the historic Ryman Auditorium. This is a concert that host in conjunction with our Annual Event whenever we go to Nashville and he not only shared the stage with Dolly Parton but introduced and opened for her - dream come true status unlocked! Jon has his own podcast called “All It Takes Is a Goal” that teaches many of the principles we will talk about today, but one thing that will make today special is our own special application of the “Soundtrack” principles to a dental office. We are hoping to help you make sure your dental practice’s culture, which is a collection of agreed upon soundtracks, is setting you up for success.
