Engel & Cabrera Present Boroughs & 'Burbs, the Real Estate Review
This is definitely going to be a different kind of show. These are two incredibly well-connected men in the world of New York real estate whose business it is to know the major trends, who's getting in, who's getting out, and why. While most of us focus on a few listings at a time we have with us on the show Aaron Feldman, co-founder of Benchmark Real Estate Group a man who has developed, managed and sold dozens of buildings and who currently manages over a thousand apartments worth over $1 billion. The Real Deal was paying attention to Benchmark, noting that they were $400 million sellers between 2015 - 2017. Two years later the Real Deal reported that Benchmark Real Estate Group was back in the market and raising $250 million through the acquisition of a SPAC and an IPO. Has he found any interesting multifamily buildings to buy or develop? Which New York markets are poised to go higher? And, what is the value-add he brings in 2023? Amir Korangy founded The Real Deal nearly 20 years ago when he realized there was a need in the market to cover the real estate industry here. The online and print publication, which serves as a source for other periodicals, was self-proclaimed "the must-read news source for real estate news," in a profile in the Los Angeles Times in 2009, and "the hot sheet for NYC real estate professionals," by the New York Post. Korangy was named one of the 100 most powerful figures in New York City real estate by the New York Observer in 2009. In 2008 he expanded to the Miami market, and in 2016 he added Los Angeles. In mid-2017, TheRealDeal.com was named the website with the wealthiest audience by Quantcast, and made the top 25- list of websites with the most educated audience. Just under 80 percent of TheRealDeal.com's readers have at least an undergraduate degree.
Red Apple Media CEO John Catsimatidis is joined in-studio by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY 11th), Lidia Curanaj, Judge Richard Weinberg, and Tony Carbonetti. #254 – On today's episode, Anthony & Bryan are joined by publisher, who founded the business magazine, The Real Deal, about real estate and finance news, Amir Korangy. Amir shares his story of how he went to school for Journalism and started working in different media companies before ultimately publishing his first newspaper in Mexico along with his business partner. After graduate studies at Emerson College, Korangy moved to New York City in 1999 where he worked at Yahoo Inc., and eventually began investing in New York City real estate. These transactions inspired Korangy to recognize a void in that industry for compelling real estate news. In 2003, Korangy put out the first edition of The Real Deal from his apartment in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. The Real Deal provides an inside look into the prominent New York real estate market as well as reports national and international market trends. There are also South Florida and Los Angeles editions of The Real Deal available online daily and in print quarterly.

Miami Real Estate Investment Strategies With Peter Zalewski Of Condo Vultures®
In Episode 69, expert Peter Zalewski of Condo Vultures interviews Amir Korangy - founder and publisher of The Real Deal - about the future of Miami's real estate brokerage industry at a time of increased pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic, high-tech companies attempting to disrupt the real estate transaction process and the increasing availability of data. In Segment 1, Korangy discusses fleeing with his family from Iran during the Islamic Revolution and eventually settling in Washington, D.C. after unsuccessful attempts to settle in France and Spain in the early 1980s. After attending college in Boston, Korangy relocated with a high school friend to Southern California where he launched his first newspaper before selling off the publication a few years later for nearly $100,000. In Segment 2, Korangy talks about using the proceeds from the sale of his first publication as the seed capital to launch a second newspaper that was located, this time, in his hometown of Washington, D.C. After only a year of publishing, Korangy successfully sold off his second newspaper before deciding to join an Internet startup company in New York that would shortly thereafter be purchased by Yahoo! Korangy worked at Yahoo! for a year before shifting his focus to flipping condos and townhouses in the New York borough of Brooklyn at the onset of the current real estate renaissance. In Segment 3, Korangy discusses how he used the profit from a property flip in Brooklyn to print the first four magazine issues of The Real Deal in New York in 2003. Some five years later in 2008, Korangy expanded his real estate publication - that included an online presence - into the Miami market to capitalize on the New York investors who were active in South Florida real estate. During this segment, Korangy discusses how The Real Deal persevered during the Great Recession and then enjoyed the building boom of the current South Florida real estate cycle. In the second half of this segment, Korangy talks about expanding into various U.S. markets and preparing to offer a new professional service subscription in 2021. The segment ends with a discussion about how Miami's real estate brokerage industry will look after the pandemic.
