Ferry Corsten on the On Location Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions at ADE 10/21/22   About Ferry Corsten -   Hailing from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Ferry Corsten's illustrious career is exemplified by a passion for music that began as a hobby and spiraled into a full-blown profession, as he continues to push the boundaries of electronic music.   This is exemplified by Ferry Corsten' recently released ambient album, ‘As Above So Below' under his FERR By Ferry Corsten alias, a personal project which allowed him to further explore his love for orchestral music that evolved from his long-running Stillpoint playlist. Ferry's love for cinematic sounds has long been present in his music, as the iconic Rotterdam native signed off on his 5th artist album as Ferry Corsten – Blueprint. In 2017 This interstellar storyline-driven epic is something unlike any Ferry Corsten record before and preceded the release of Ferry's first soundtrack early last year, composing the score for David Gleeson's late-2018 thriller ‘Don't Go'.   2019 also saw Ferry continue with his UNITY project, a concept launched in 2018 that has seen Ferry collaborate with iconic trance acts throughout the year with the vision of uniting the Trance community for a bigger cause. Ferry has partnered with VH1's Save The Music Foundation, an organization formed to reinstate music programs for children, which has helped 2,100 schools to date. The self inflicted death of her long term partner sent Samoan-European poet Serie Barford into an emotional tailspin. The relationship with Alain had been intense but also difficult in later years. Serie has put all of her complex mix of feelings into a collection of impassioned poems called Sleeping with Stones. Written over the last two years, Serie hopes that it will help others who are struggling after the death of someone they love deeply. Lynn Freeman talks with Serie about the collection, and Serie reads one of the poems. Serie Barford's Sleeping with Stones is published by Anahera. On the latest episode of The Good Citizen podcast, Anahera Rawiri talks to Jeremy Hansen about the unique Māori solutions Auckland's housing crisis.New Zealand's housing crisis is a systemic failure on so many fronts: a rapidly growing population, insane house prices, a drastic shortage of quality homes, a volatile renting market, tight lending restrictions, no capital gains tax and so much more. All of it is interdependent and complicated, which is partly why, at a national level, it's been put in the too-hard basket for too long. But in Auckland, one hapū has been tackling these obstacles – financial, structural, psychological – in innovative ways with remarkable results. It's been hard, painstaking work at a relatively small scale, but if offers lessons that could be applied across the country – and shows that our housing problems, when tackled one by one, may not be as intractable as we think. Up on the papakāinga at Ōrākei, 30 new warm, dry and generous terrace homes are testament to the determination of the members of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to begin to deal with the housing crisis in their own way. “There's so much pressure on the housing market that people are looking for different ways of doing things,” says Anahera Rawiri, who works for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei's development arm. “We knew we had to build some houses, and it was good for us to do that.
