In this solo episode, Larry Weishuhn pivots after a technical computer glitch eats his originally recorded episode, an interview with Catfish Radio host and longtime friend, Luke Clayton. Recording just five hours before heading to the airport, Larry shares his itinerary for an epic three-nation European roe deer hunt. He also previews an exciting lineup of upcoming guests and highlights major summer conservation events that listeners will not want to miss. Larry is embarking on a European hunt alongside Mark and Carol Little, who purchased the trip at the 2025 DSC Foundation Gala, and guides Stephan and Sophia Bengston of Scandinavian Pro Hunters. Travel & Gear: To avoid the hassle of flying with firearms across three countries, Larry is borrowing rifles (preferring a .275 Rigby or 7x57 Mauser) and has ensured a supply of Hornady ammunition will be available in each location. Roe Deer Habits: The bucks shed their velvet in late April or early May, and their rut occurs later in the summer (June through August). Calling Tactics: Hunters often use a "butylo call," which emits a strange whistling sound that attracts roebucks. Taxidermy: Due to limited wall space, Larry plans to do classic European skull mounts on nice wood plaques for the roe deer taken on this trip. Upcoming Media: Larry will record segments from each European nation for his digital TV show, A Sportsman's Life, while Luke Clayton and Jeff Rice hold down the fort with striped bass and blue catfish fishing segments back home. Upcoming Guests: Future podcast episodes will feature Luke Clayton, geneticist and author Dr. Mike Arnold, Michael Waddell, and a special June trip recording with the "Three Amigos" (Larry, Jim Zumbo, and Rick Lambert) alongside Mike Snyder. Upcoming Summer Conventions Larry strongly encourages listeners to get involved in wildlife conservation by attending these major summer events: Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) Convention: Celebrating its 41st year, this convention takes place July 9th–12th. Larry helped start this organization back in 1985. DSC Summer Show Expo: Taking place at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, TX. This four-day expo features over 400 booths with activities for all ages. DSC Foundation Gala: Held the night of July 25th at the Gaylord Texan. The gala features massive fundraising auctions (which can be bid on via OnlineHuntingAuctions.com) and will present the Legacy Award to Steve Hornady. Larry's Three-Nation Roe Deer Sweden The starting point of the trip. Larry has successfully hunted roe deer, red stag, fallow deer, and waterfowl here in the past. Poland This will be a brand-new hunting destination for Larry. The group will spend two to three days here hoping to take a roe deer, and possibly a second if the right mature buck presents itself. Scotland The hunt concludes around Inverness. Larry is specifically looking for a mature roe buck after only spotting immature bucks and does in the lowlands on a previous trip. Dame Lynley Dodd is a staple of Kiwi childhoods. The beloved children's author is best known for her Hairy Maclary series, the first of which was released over 40 years ago. She's sold millions of books worldwide, and just this week she was honoured at the New Zealander of the Year Awards. Dodd was granted the Legacy Award for fostering a love of literature in generations of children. While she admits it sounds a bit silly, Dodd admits to feeling slightly guilty at the level of acclaim and the legacy she's built. “Well I obviously, I think, been spending all these years thoroughly enjoying myself producing these books,” she told Jack Tame. “It sounds a bit, you know, I've been indulging myself, and I have, doing these things, but no, it's been great fun.” Dodd's love of wordplay and language stems back to her childhood, as her parents were, in her words, much into words, and there was an “awful lot of fun” with language in her home. “Both my parents were fond of books, and also fond of fun, and so, you know, obviously there were serious times as well, but there was a lot of fun with words,” she explained. “My father and I used to make up games, make up sort of imaginary animals and all sorts of silly things and have nonsense conversations about them.” The language used in her home was also a contrast to the things she was given to read at school, which were “incredibly old-fashioned". “There were, you know, millions of gnomes and fairies and bits and pieces, and it was talking down kind of language,” Dodd told Tame. “And I got a bit bored by those books, and it was only much later on, when I met books like Dr Suess', I suddenly realised you could be mad with language and have a fantastic time.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ist "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" (1:26:05) wirklich Westeros light?

Michael Phelps BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Michael Phelps, the 23-time Olympic gold medalist, has made waves in the past few days with his mental health advocacy taking center stage. Sports Illustrated reports he will receive their prestigious 2025 Muhammad Ali Legacy Award on January 6 in Las Vegas, honoring his decade-long fight against stigma through personal vulnerability and work with platforms like Talkspace. The announcement highlights Phelps raw journey from a haunting 2015 SI cover story to saving lives via speeches in India just before Thanksgiving and emotional encounters at grocery stores where fans credit him with pulling them from suicide. ELFA Online magazine recaps his inspiring talk at their 64th Annual Convention on Marco Island, Florida, in late 2025, where he energized equipment finance pros alongside authors like Kyla Scanlon. Phelps recently slammed USA Swimming for banning international swimmers from facilities, per AOL, reigniting his critiques of the sport he dominated. No fresh public appearances or business deals popped up since New Years, but his social feeds stay quiet on family amid holiday struggles he openly shares. SwimSwam confirms the SI award as his top recent nod, cementing biographical heft in advocacy over pool glory. All verified from these outlets, with zero unconfirmed buzz. Phelps long beard and man bun signal a comfy evolution, as he told SI, roaring into 2026 ready to lower youth suicide rates.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Manoah was Samson's dad. And like most good dads, he goes unnoticed in the story. He was a Regular Joe.He hears he will have a son of immense potential — yet his first response is a humble, straightforward prayer:“Lord, teach me how to raise the boy.”Now that's a prayer we can all pray.Samson's story zig-zags.The whole book of Judges summarises itself in its final verse:“In those days, there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”And the irony in Samson's story is that he only does what is right once his eyes are removed. Our children are growing up in strange times. We can see their potential — and we can see the cascade of distractions coming their way — and we wonder how best to respond.Join Andy Lamberton LIVE at Regular Joes conference as he asks Anthony Bradley:• What kind of world are our sons (in particular) growing up in?• How should we pray for them?• And how do we help them harness their strength? We're launching our Legacy Award 2026:For fathers ready to invest … for 11-14s ready for adventure.Request a prospectus to find out more.Even if you just want a nosey!www.legacyfathers.org/awardGuest: Anthony Bradley is a Research Fellow at the Acton Institute and Research Professor at Kuyper College.
