As we reported last year, our research shows that Britney Spears' debut single had its first US radio play on August 16, 1998. Magazine articles show that there was a push to release the song September 28th, however our research and the actual radio logs showed that many stations were already playing the song! One Radio magazine, sent out in Aug, even said the song was "on your desk now". Which meant radio already had the song in August. Based on the number of stations playing it, how much they played it, and the number of people listening to those stations, Baby was reaching a potential audience of 170 million people even before that Sept 28th date.
