Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take a look at today's breaking news: Damian Lillard's surgery happened, CJ McCollum had a baby (with his wife), the Trail Blazer hired a new Assistant General Manager- Andrae Patterson, oh and the Blazers took on the Denver Nuggets in Denver to kick off a 6-game road trip, losing 140-108. With the loss, the Blazers (10th) are now only 2 games ahead of 14th place Oklahoma City for a bottom 5 worst record in the league. With Lillard likely out for the season and the continued absences of multiple starters & contributors (McCollum, Norman Powell, Anfernee Simons, Larry Nance Jr.), this is what most of the remaining season will probably look like. Hunting for good performances from Nassir Little and Simons - watching rookies Trendon Watford and Greg Brown III make mistakes - that's the vision for the next few months and that's not a bad thing. With the impending trade deadline less than a month away and then March Madness weeks after, there's plenty to still be excited about and look forward to. So hop in with the fellas and get involved! The Portland Trail Blazers lost a game on Thursday but look that's not really all that important. The Denver Nuggets scored a lot. It wasn't competitive. Got it? Okay now let's skip to the good part. TRADES! Yes, trades. Specifically trade chatter from Bleacher Report's Jack Fischer that has the Blazers linked to Indiana center Myles Turner and Detroit forward Jerami Grant. Those are two of the bigger names on the market and the Blazers reportedly have interest in both. Plus, Fischer reports that there could potentially be a sizable market for CJ McCollum depending on the asking price and that Norman Powell could potentially be on the move. It's that time of year. Gather round the rumor mill and listen to a full breakdown of the latest reporting and what it all might mean for basketball in the Pacific Northwest. Learn more about your ad choices. Anfernee Simons scored 23 points and dished out a career-best 11 assists to lead the shorthanded Portland Trail Blazers to a 114-108 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Simons didn't shoot well but had the best floor game of his career in guiding the Blazers to a stunning upset win over Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and the Nets, who came into the game 14-3 on the road. Without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum or Norman Powell in the lineup, Simons got help from Robert Covington (21 points) and Ben McLemore (17 points) to hold off a late charge and give Portland its third win in the last five games. Did someone say tanking? This was the most entertaining win, unexpected win of the season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night's Portland Trail Blazers win over the Brooklyn Nets. The Blazers won 114-108 on the backs of Anfernee Simons, Robert Covington, and Ben McLemore. The baby Blazers got it done again - Simons set a new career high with 11 assists to go with 23 points and 6 rebounds, while Covington scored 21 points on 5-7 from distance. McLemore dropped 20 more on 5-8 from three point range. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving just couldn't keep pace with a Blazers team that was active defensively and opportunistic from deep - while Simons kept the Nets off balance inside the 3-point line. Have the Blazers found something without the help of Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Norman Powell? No - of course not. But, handing the keys over to Simons with Lillard out has allowed Simons to step into the bright lights on the big stage and he is SHINING! The Portland Trail Blazers dispatched the Sacramento Kings, 103-98, on Sunday night at the Moda Center in a game without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum or Norman Powell. Anfernee Simons had 31 points, Jusuf Nurkic came up one assist shy of a triple-double and the Kings did their part by being pathetic. It was a nice win for a team that hasn't had many of them in a while, but news broke before tip off that suggests the shorthanded Blazers might be shorthanded for a while longer and perhaps even the remainder of the season. Chauncey Billups said pregame that Lillard will not accompany the Blazers on an upcoming six-game road trip and instead will go see specialists to discuss his season-long abdominal issue. Lillard could opt for surgery or perhaps just shut it down for the remainder of the season as the Blazers head towards a lottery pick as they slip further from the playoff picture. If the Blazers are headed for an official tank job and away from the current unofficial tank job, how should fans watch a team that isn't trying to winning? Without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Anfernee Simons or Nassir Little - the shorthanded Blazers relied on Norman Powell (29 points) and Jusuf Nurkic (31 points) to carry the offensive load. While they came up short, the product on the floor was so much better than it has been for the past few weeks, that it's hard to fathom a game where they never really pushed ahead or in front of their opponent being such a massive improvement. The vibes, while not an official scale, were definitively better with McCollum off the floor - and it appears the message of heart, hustle and give-a-damn at least resonated enough to manifest is cursory level commitments. Unfortunately, the system is still very broken but when things have been so awful recently, it's nice to not ring the same bells following a loss. No one in the starting lineup had a game to write home about. Norman Powell left with a quad injury, Jusuf Nurkic couldn't keep the Warriors off the glass (or keep from fouling), Robert Covington was left to do what he wanted (which he could never really figure out), CJ McCollum ball stopped at wildly inopportune times while disappearing defensively and Damian Lillard consistently tried to attack traps, double-teams and help-side pressure. Meanwhile, Portland's bench was scoreless in the first half, not helping really in any manner and with that all in place, Portland was in it with a few minutes to go in the 1st half and then they got Warriors'd. Blitzed in a 16-2 run the close out the half that made it feel like it was a 30 point game in only a manner the Warriors are able to do. The second half saw Anfernee Simons come to life, scoring all of his 19 points in the final 24 minutes on a barrage of 3's and floaters. Combined with some decent shot making by Lillard and McCollum Portland closed the gap to 7 but then the Warriors went Warriors again and that was that. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they break down Saturday night's Portland Trail Blazers victory over the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers, 118-111. First and foremost, Damian Lillard had his most productive night of the year - scoring from all levels, getting to the free throw line and setting the tone for the Blazers all night long. Nassir Little, Norman Powell and Jusuf Nurkic put up wildly efficient scoring nights - all notching double figures and putting pressure on the rim throughout the game. The Blazer's defense came up in key moments, but in a game where the opponent was missing a large chunk of their offense and still going 10 deep on the roster, you likely wanted to see more from them in that regard. If you're looking for some building blocks, the Blazers didn't come out flat in the first quarter but instead saved that for the 4th quarter - allowing the game to get much closer than it should've. Portland executed well down the stretch where Philadelphia fell short, losing the ball a handful of times and missing open looks when they came their way. The Portland Trail Blazers fall short in their bid to win their first road game of the season and fall to 0-6 on the road with two more games on the trip before heading home to a back to back. It was an unusually cruel night as the Blazer's demise was not handed out by Chris Paul or Devin Booker - not Mikal Bridges of the villainous Jae Crowder. Instead, Frank “The Tank” Kaminsky embodied the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - raining down fire and brimstone in between post moves. Rude. Damian Lillard, clearly limited by whatever is ailing him, delivered in a different manner than in the past. Without the strength to get the 3-ball up effectively, he attacked the midrange religiously and with a good success rate. The organization has released a statement acknowledging the investigation but no more at this time is known. How will this effect the team tonight? Some? Not at all? The night-to-night likely isn't impacted as much as the long term with so many variables surrounding the construction of this roster - however the major story lines will still hold up. Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague to take a look at tonight's action. What to make of the 9th straight game where Damian Lillard has looked like anyone but himself? Anfernee Simons' continued scoring ability and bacon-saving shot making buoyed the Blazers while forcing Coach Billups to look at the 4-guard lineup again. Robert Covington breaks out of slow start to, well win the game tonight with his late game 3-point shooting. The Portland Trail Blazers have run into a mostly good to have problem. They have four very good guards but there's not enough; minutes, touches, shots, or spots on the floor for them all to be maximized. However, one thing is clear - Anfernee Simons needs to be getting over 20 minutes a night regularly. How do the Blazers figure that out? Does that make it a necessity to make a move at the deadline with either CJ McCollum or Norman Powell? Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take on that tall task and answer more of your questions about Damian Lillard's continued shooting slump, balancing what the top end Blazers do best, trying to figure out where Robert Covington fits in, and whether or not it's time to slide Larry Nance Jr in the starting lineup. It's a Jacked Ramsays Mail Bag edition podcast and be sure to catch the pregame show Wednesday at 3 PM PST with special guest Justin Rowan, host of the official podcast of the Cleveland Cavaliers - “The Chasedown” to help preview Blazers vs. Cavaliers. And does Nassir Little's recent play portend good things rest-of-season, or is it just circumstantial without Norman Powell (knee)? All that and much more is covered in Tuesday's Stew.

On this Mail Bag episode of the Jacked Ramsays, Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take on your questions after the Trail Blazers plays two VERY different games against the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns that may have raised more questions than they answered? Many have been left wondering, which version of the Trail Blazers is closer to the one we might see this year? A more listless effort against a middling team like the Kings that saw the Blazers look much like they did in preseason- mixed in with explosive scoring from CJ McCollum- or is it the team the had the Phoenix Suns down by 30-plus points early in the 4th quarter and saw coach Monty Williams wave the white flag of defeat with more than 10 minutes remaining in the game? One common thread through both games, CJ McCollum has heard all of the talk about where he stands in the NBA and he's come out swinging leading Portland in scoring both games while being incredibly efficient... so of course we were asked - is this the year for CJ McCollum to be an All-Star? Beyond that, questions about the prowess of the bench unit, and an update on Norman Powell's injury make it into the show as the guys discuss Nassir Little possibly stepping into the starting lineup. Hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague take a look at the first 3 preseason games, all losses but does that really matter? How has the offense looked with the starting group all out on the floor - the vaunted “3-guard lineup” featuring Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Robert Covington and Jusuf Nurkic? What, if anything, can we take from individual and/or team performance in the preseason? What are the positives... are they there? What are the expectations to start the season - with games that count less than a week away, should there be space allowed for things to be worked out? If it's not a product of the roster, how long should they be given to iron things out? Finally, Marang and Sprague make predictions that will in no way, shape, matter or form come back to bite them for: Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Most Improved, 6th Man of the Year, Finals participants and more.
