Brandon Tracy is a real estate agent and business owner who has lived through at least two major dark nights of the soul: both of which catalyzed him to re-evaluate his life and how he approached his goals. He talks to Mighty Pete and the Fire in the Belly audience about how he lost everything in the 2009 recession, and how that experience helped show him where, and how, he was standing in his own way. As he rebuilt his real estate business through a measured approach of being vulnerable and transparent in his practices, he vowed he would help other entrepreneurs to avoid the same pitfalls that had slowed him down. In this episode of the podcast, we get to listen to Brandon's unique story and how he created his consulting service, The Authentic Agent, and what he hopes to help others achieve. KEY TAKEAWAYS Curiosity about all aspects of life and being humble about the practice of learning new things, can fuel passion and success in your business. Taking personal responsibility for one's actions is difficult, and often uncomfortable, but finding that path forward emotionally often yields results in your personal and professional life. Vulnerability breeds authenticity, which attracts people to you and to your “brand”. What if we spent eight hours a day, five days a week, truly dedicated to our goals – not just watching Netflix, but planning out an approach and trying to make it happen? There is a special equation that happens when we give time and strategy and consistency to what we want to have happen. BEST MOMENTS “Business is an incredible conduit for spiritual and personal growth…our businesses will grow in direct proportion to how we grow as people.” “A lot of people's inability to move their business forward is just, simply, inconsistency. It's such a simple thing, yet so incredibly powerful to show up for yourself and your business and your family and your goals and do it with great consistency.” “I feel a lot of solace in the action of life. It helps me to be ‘doing'.” “What causes people to fail is their inability to be vulnerable.” ABOUT THE GUEST Brandon Tracy has lived several lifetimes in his 40 years. Right after graduating from Arizona State with a degree in kinesiology, at the age of 24, he was diagnosed with a golf-ball-sized brain tumour behind his left eye. Lying in his hospital bed after emergency surgery, he realized he wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a real estate agent. After attaining a multimillion-dollar career in real estate, he lost everything (multiple homes, multiple cars, his entire fortune) after the economic recession of 2009, and was reduced to couch-surfing with friends while he re-assessed, once again, the wreckage of his life. It was at that point that he had two revelations: real estate was more important to him than he realized, and he was the main obstacle standing in his way. That day, the journey towards becoming his most authentic, transparent self, began. Now, Brandon is the powerhouse behind Authentic Agent: entrepreneurial, industry support that helps other real estate agents reach success by being more vulnerable, authentic, and transparent in their personal and business practices. Sure, it's important to have goals in your life, business, church, or organization. But if you're leading, you must be very careful that you don't step towards those goals on the backs and bruises of other people. If people are your focus over your goals, you'll find yourself in a healthy spot at the end of the day. Check out this throwback clip from last summer with Pastor Q, Brad Chandler, & Brandon Tracy.
Brandon Tracy and Haley LoBosco talk about how important branding is, and why it's so much more than having a nice logo and brand colors. A good brand is built into your character and it shows up in every single aspect of your life. It is an extension of who you are and how you show up to your clients. So, how do you leverage this the easy way? Brandon and Haley share their thoughts.Key Takeaways●When it comes to branding as an agent, where do we start?●Let's define what “branding” is.●Your brand is you! A logo doesn't define who you are as an individual.●Don't hide behind your logo or your marketing materials. We are in the people business.●No matter what happens at the end of the day, you're still an entrepreneur.●You are the most important ingredient in this whole process.●What makes a good salesperson?●Good service comes attached to your name, and then slowly a brand forms around that.●It takes time to build a good brand, you can't rush this process at all!●How do you build a good brand in a conscious way?●Social media is an extension of who you are, and the great news is that it's free!●You have to love the process of whatever it is that you're doing.●Entrepreneurs are responsible for their own results and how they show up every single day.●Social media is a great tool, but don't use it to base your entire value as a person off of it. It's not the case!●Ego will sink your business.●Become significant, become great, through the service of others!Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagent.comBtgrealestate.com
Brandon Tracy and Haley LoBosco talk about why it's so important to be intentional with the type of language you're using when it comes to this competitive market right now. Do you often say that things are “crazy” or “wild” or “unpredictable”? How you perceive the market to be might actually be affecting how you're showing up as a real estate agent to your clients. If you feel like the market is out of control, then you might be showing up and playing small because you're uncertain where things are headed, which doesn't help anybody, especially your clients!Key TakeawaysIt's an incredibly competitive market out there right now.We have to be careful what kind of language we're using in a competitive market and how we're showing up for our clients. How can you be good at better managing these intense market cycles? What kind of language are you using to describe the market? Do you say things like “It's crazy.” “It's insane.”?The way we talk about the market is unhealthy. Are you making excuses because you're afraid you can't help people succeed in this “crazy” market? If you are using words like “crazy” and “wild” and “nuts,” those are the types of responses you'll be getting back in your business. You're actually doubling your work without realizing it!How can we change the way we show up to our clients? It's your responsibility to sit down and educate your clients about what's going on in the industry.Don't play small and not show up as the best version of yourself.Set standards for yourself. How do you let go of a client?Don't try to find “every” customer. Find “your” customer.Everyone says it's a crazy market, but in reality, it's just a market.Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagent.comBtgrealestate.com
Brandon Tracy and Haley LoBosco talk about perfectionism in this week's episode. If you feel like you're stuck or not taking action, it might be because you're waiting for the “perfect” moment to strike, but guess what, there is no such thing as a perfect moment. Brandon shares how he had to overcome his trauma response mechanism in order for him to get better at making a decision and stopping his perfectionism from protecting himself from rejection.Key TakeawaysWhy aren't you taking action? Why aren't you building new skills? So many of us suffer from imposter syndrome.Do you get paralyzed from trying to be perfect all the time?We all have gifts. You need to put yourself out there!Everything has already been said. You just have to share. There is room for you in this world.By waiting to be perfect, we're not taking any actions.Perfectionism is a trauma response. Brandon explains what he means by that. There is no such thing as a perfect email, or perfect script. How much are you using your perfectionism to block you from rejection?Brandon had to do some inner work to get to the next level. What got you here won't get you there.Brandon didn't want to take action because he was so afraid of letting people down with a bad decision. It took a while, but Brandon realized he didn't have to be perfect, he just needed to create the right learning environment so that everyone on his team could grow. You have to be an imperfectionist in a lot of ways. What does an imperfect action plan look like? Brandon shares the process. You have so little to lose when you get into action, and so much to gain! How long did it take Brandon to realize that it's okay to not be perfect? You can prepare yourself for the emotions that will come. You will feel imposter syndrome, you will feel self-doubt, but the good news is you can ready your emotions for this new roller coaster. It's all just part of the process.Get feedback from the right people, and keep continuing on your journey.Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagent.comBtgrealestate.com
Your co-hosts Haley LoBosco and Brandon Tracy talk about developing a stronger level of competency when you're first starting out. You can dream and wish all you want, but we have to go in and build the competency to actually have the things we want in life and for ourselves. So many of us give up too early, like after a week, and what we need to do is practice consistent action over time to get to a level of mastery that we've always wanted to have.Key TakeawaysWhen you build competency, you build more profitability. The missing ingredient is often within yourself. You're not supposed to be good at things when you first start them, so be kind to yourself. It's your responsibility to bring intention, learning, skill, and the right mindset into the strategy.Agents that lean in and participate in their life and career every single day, they're going to reach new heights in their career. You have to continue to do it over and over again, and be open to mistakes, over a consistent amount of time to truly achieve a level of mastery.Brandon wonders if he has FOMO when it comes to learning.Show up to your potential. Why are people so afraid to learn new things or to make an effort to expand their abilities?Want to be an entrepreneur? It first starts with being comfortable with rejection. It comes back to practicing a bit of grace and understanding that good things in life take time.Courage is sitting inside of you already and it's ready for you to tap into it.Are you afraid? Write it down, write down all the fears you might be having around cold-calling, emailing a client, etc, and then go do it anyway.Cross out everything that didn't happen the way you thought it would. Our outcomes in life are consistent with our skills and what we're willing to grow into.Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagentseries.comBtgrealestate.com
Your co-hosts Haley LoBosco and Brandon Tracy talk about communication and emotional neutrality. You have a lot of power when you manage your emotions when things get heated. In fact, as an agent, we get so passionate about the kind of work that we're doing, we often forget our core responsibilities to the client, which is to be on their side. Brandon and Haley talk about why it's important to set expectations correctly, how to be an elite communicator, and how to consciously practice emotional neutrality in this week's episode.Key Takeaways●Does the way you communicate save you time or does it cost you time?●The role of a real estate agent is to remain neutral.●What does emotional neutrality mean? Haley shares her definition of it.●Before you become reactive to your feelings, how do you take a step back and find the solution?●Inside your emotional neutrality is where your power truly is.●How do you approach upcoming challenges? Avoid them? Or face them head-on?●Take control of the situation by having the conversation before it controls you.●It's a lot of work to calm people down and help everyone to move in the same direction.●How do you set expectations if you don't know what to expect?●You save so much time by taking a step back, calming down, analyzing the situation, and then moving forward.●Don't have time to do something? Slow down.Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagentseries.comBtgrealestate.com
Your co-hosts Haley LoBosco and Brandon Tracy sit down to discuss how to achieve more for yourself and your potential in this week's episode. Do you feel underfilled? Do you feel like you're just playing small? The great thing about being in real estate is that you have so much more freedom than a typical nine-to-five job, but it also means you have more responsibilities for yourself to be a better person, business owner, and how you show up with your family. Here are some important questions you need to ask yourself to continue on this path of self-leadership and autonomy!Key Takeaways●What is our responsibility within ourselves to achieve our fullest potential in life?●Why do so many people struggle with finding their purpose?●You have a lot of responsibility to change your life! Don't take on a victim mindset.●Being in real estate is tough work, but it also gives you a lot of freedom and autonomy.●How do we lead ourselves? It first starts with being self-aware.●Give your chance to be successful by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone!●Self-reflection can be a hard pill to swallow.●Change your mindset to see challenges as a good thing.●How do you access your courage?●The process of growth is something that never stops. It's always about the journey.●Once you embrace self-leadership and growth, how do you help others take on this similar mindset?●Don't get dragged down by other people's inaction. You can only focus on what you can control.●You can't avoid making mistakes. It's the only way we will learn!Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagentseries.comBtgrealestate.com
Your three co-hosts Haley LoBosco, Brandon Tracy, and Kyle Bates kick off their first podcast episode to discuss how the real estate industry has been changed by the pandemic. Many real estate agents are unhappy with the new challenges and changes that have been presented to them. However, your co-hosts share why the pandemic has been a good thing for the space. There are a lot of positive things happening, and here's how you can embrace them and propel your business forward.Key Takeaways●The pandemic has completely changed the real estate industry.●Consumer behavior is taking an interesting turn. It's great!●The 40-hour workweek isn't a thing anymore. It's all about productively managing your productivity.●Just because there are new changes happening in the industry doesn't mean you need to completely reinvent yourself.●Real estate agents love the efficiency/time saved by not doing in-person meetings.●With all this extra time, people are focusing on the things that matter.●There have been plenty of industries that have faced new challenges and new disruptions. You either embrace them or you die.●Why are people uncomfortable with meeting on Zoom?●Don't let your ego hold you back from moving your business forward.●Your clients don't like meeting online? Think again.●At some point, we'll be getting vaccinated. The end is near!●The real estate industry is a very social work environment. Brandon understands people are feeling lonely and missing those connections.●Going to the office is going to be way different than what we were used to before the pandemic.●Your three co-hosts have leveraged the power of an online community to help them stay connected with peers and friends.●How many of us are capable of self-governing our way to success when we don't have a boss?●Have the fundamentals of the real estate business changed?●Kyle does a recap on what the fundamentals are to successful real estate business.●The world is moving forward, with or without you.●Have a bit of grace and compassion for yourself. We are all in a period of growth and transition.●Instead of focusing on whether something is harder or easier than it was before, focus on what you need to get done today, and do it!●Show up every single day imperfectly perfect and know what your value is.●It does get easier as you go!Continue Your JourneyAuthenticagentseries.comBtgrealestate.com
