Brian Robison sits down with me to talk about his fatherhood journey. We talk about the values he looks to instill into his kids as they are growing up. In addition, Brian talks about the 4 F's; Faith, Family, Football and Fishing. Next we talk about his foundation and how he pays it forward. Then we talk about his time in the NFL. Lastly, we finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five. About Brian Robison Brian played football in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings for 11 years. Football has always been the constant for him, but fishing has always been close by. Growing up fishing ponds, creeks and lakes from the bank was always enjoyable to him. Things changed drastically for him when he purchased his first bass boat in 2012. Since then he has become completely addicted to the sport of bass fishing. Brian lives his life by what he calls the 4 F's; Faith, Family, Football and Fishing. Now that he has retired from the game of football it has become about Faith, Family and Fishing. Fishing has long been a passion to him and some would even say an obsession. He looks forward to the opportunities to take his kids on the boat, compete in fishing tournaments and fish with friends. He has even started a foundation called “Reel ‘Em In” that is centered around fishing. As he moves forward from his life as an NFL athlete, the fishing industry is definitely where he wants to be. MONEY FM 89.3 - Prime Time with Howie Lim, Bernard Lim & Finance Presenter JP Ong
Over the last year, malware targeting businesses in Asia Pacific have increased by 270%. More than ever, businesses are not prepared in defending against mobile malware. Howie Lim and Bernard Lim speak to Brian Robison, Chief Evangelist, BlackBerry Cylance to get his insights.
Brian Robison: Mobile Malware and APT Espionage Until now, the public’s exposure to mobile phone malware has been dominated by news about the privately run “greyware” vendors, including Gamma Group, Hacking Team and NSO. Their commercial smartphone spyware seems to inevitably end up in the hands of autocrats who use it to hamper free speech, quash dissent, or worse. Consumers of these news stories are often left with the impression that mobile malware is just something paranoid dictators purchase for use within their own borders in luddite countries few people can find on a map. It is not. In a coming report, BlackBerry Cylance researchers will reveal what the focus on those groups has overshadowed: several governments with well-established cyber capabilities have long ago adapted to, and exploited, the mobile threat landscape for a decade or more. In this context, mobile malware is not a new or niche effort, but a longstanding part of a cross-platform strategy integrated with traditional desktop malware in diverse ways across the geopolitical sphere. This week on Insecurity, Matt Stephenson has a chat with BlackBerry Cylance Chief Evangelist Brian Robison about the scourge of Mobile Malware and how the threats that come from attacking mobile devices are different… and thus require a different mindset when it comes to securing those devices and your network. About Brian Robison Brian Robison has over 20 years of cybersecurity experience. As Chief Evangelist at BlackBerry Cylance he is focused on educating and inspiring the world. Robison hosts live Hacking Exposed events, where he demonstrates the tools and techniques of real-world threat actors. Brian is a regular speaker at industry events such as RSA, Black Hat, thought leadership forums like ISC2 Think Tank and is highly sought after to speak at partner events. Prior to joining BlackBerry Cylance, Robison worked to defend organizations from mobile security threats —three years as a Director at Citrix XenMobile and two driving enterprise strategy at Good Technology. Brian also spent over six years at McAfee with a special focus on end-point security -leading efforts to modernize ePolicy Orchestrator. During this time, he also managed vulnerability and policy compliance solutions. His early career ranges from a six-year period with Tripwire, Inc. to cutting his professional teeth in consumer electronics at Diamond Multimedia. About Matt Stephenson Insecurity Podcast host Matt Stephenson (@packmatt73) leads the Broadcast Media team at BlackBerry, which puts him in front of crowds, cameras, and microphones all over the world. He is the regular host of the InSecurity podcast and host of CylanceTV Twenty years of work with the world’s largest security, storage, and recovery companies has introduced Matt to some of the most fascinating people in the industry. He wants to get those stories told so that others can learn from what has come Every week on the InSecurity Podcast, Matt interviews leading authorities in the security industry to gain an expert perspective on topics including risk management, security control friction, compliance issues, and building a culture of security. Each episode provides relevant insights for security practitioners and business leaders working to improve their organization’s security posture and bottom line. Can’t get enough of Insecurity? Good morning Horners! The old crew is back in the saddle again and in this episode, we talk about team bonding and fractures in the locker room. Starting out with a look at the Green Bay Packers, and how it seems that there may be dysfunction already, or at least the potential there for quite a bit. Ted Glover and Drew Bunting break down what they see for them this season. Dave compares Aaron Rodgers to Joe Flacco over the last two seasons and how this will definitely affect how the division shakes out in the Minnesota Vikings can win it. As Gary Kubiak's role for the Vikings comes into more clarity, and enthusiastic discussion broke out of whether he will be a sounding board head coach Mike Zimmer or more of a quasi-offensive coordinator taking that job from Kevin Stefanski. The guys at GMG are curious as to what you think about this new dynamic? We look at the offensive line, which we all agree should be an improvement over last year, but wonder if it will be enough. Seeing a poll on Twitter where Vikings fans were asked what is more important, a good offensive line, the scheme, or a set of very good wide receivers, there was a definite push in the direction of what fans haven't seen in a long while. We are curious, which of those three do you think is most important to future Viking success? Ted hypothesizes that there was a fracture in the locker room last year, and Drew laments the loss of leaders in the locker room like Everson Griffen, Brian Robison, and Terrance Newman. There is definitely a value for veteran leadership when it comes to the chemistry among the players. What a difference we saw between the 2017 season and the 2018 one. Wrapping up with that team binding theme, Ted tells a story of how it was either Mike Lynn or Roger Headrick that back in the day took the team for some team bonding experiences to include ziplining down a canyon. Can you imagine Jerry Burns yelling, "to the zip line!"? How many F-bombs were sure to follow? “Weeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!” – into the 2019 season we go! Learn more about your ad choices.
