Things started off strong for the Cincinnati Bengals in their pursuit of winning their sixth game of the season and first in the AFC North when they took a 10-7 lead over the Baltimore Ravens with 5:49 left in the first half. However, just seconds later, fans, coaches, and teammates quickly saw Burrow clutching his right hand/wrist, and soon, everyone would see the Bengals franchise quarterback grimace in pain and fail to be able to throw a practice toss on the sidelines. With Burrow running into the locker room, all eyes turned to backup Jake Browning, who would be playing in only the second NFL game of his career. The Ravens' defense had placed pressure on Burrow and increased their pressure, with Browning now behind center. At the same time, Lamar Jackson was getting help from his running game, receivers, and official calls against the Bengals, as they turned the score around while posting 405 yards of offense, with Jackson going 16-of-26 for 264 yards in the air with two touchdowns and Gus Edwards adding 62 yards on the ground with two scores. Add in the first 100-yard receiving performance by Odell Beckham Jr. since the 2021 season, and things looked bleak for the Bengals overall. Browning was serviceable, going 8-of-14 for 68 yards and a touchdown toss to Ja'Marr Chase late in the game, and Joe Mixon would carry 16 times for 69 yards and a 4.3 yards per carry average while also adding 31 yards receiving on five catches, including a touchdown. But in the end, all eyes and questions surrounded Burrow and how bad the injury will be going forward. While Burrow was not the only Bengals player to go down on the night, he is the straw that stirs the Bengals' offensive drink, and as everyone saw at the start of the season, without a healthy Joe Burrow, the Bengals have yet to show they can be a team to consider one of the top in the NFL. Dave Lapham joined Dave Berk in a special postgame call following the game to give his opinion on Burrow's injury, the team's performance, and the direction the Bengals will need to go if they want a chance to make the playoffs in 2023. The Seahawks made a move at the trade deadline to acquire interior defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Did they give up too much considering some of the other moves made around the league for defensive line? We contrast the move with the 49ers acquisition of Chase Young. The move may have come at the perfect time after watching the Browns attack the middle of the field in both the run and the screen game. The defense came up big when they needed to though thanks to the (intentional?) head assist from Jamal Adams. Which Baltimore Ravens team will the Seahawks face this week? One that dominated the Lions just a couple weeks ago? The one that looked like they barely needed to try hard on offense against the Cardinals? Or will they finally be worn down after multiple road trips in the last few weeks? It's going to be another big test for the defense to face off against Lamar, Gus Edwards and tight end Mark Andrews. The Rams are continuing to make their way to the bottom of the NFC West after a big loss to the Cowboys and there is uncertainty around Matt Stafford moving forward with a thumb injury. But even with those concerns, Adam still likes the Rams to beat the Packers this upcoming weekend in our picks segment. Josh and Dante are back this week to talk about their Halloween weekend festivities, as well as some bonus Renaissance festival talk. They go right into breaking down the Ravens' 31-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals, which in large part was extremely forgettable. Lamar didn't light the world on fire, the defense didn't rack up a record breaking sack total, but the boys went into the desert and got the job done. Gus Edwards had his "I'm him" game, Michael Pierce reminded the league that he still exists, and Odell Beckham Jr. is throwing helmets in frustration. Josh and Dante dive into all the ins and outs, as well as one of the boys giving a shout out to a Punter. The boys move into a discussion recapping the NFL Trade Deadline headline by the Commanders moving Chase Young to San Francisco as well as Montez Sweat to Chicago. The Ravens were, allegedly, "leaving no stone unturned" as one reporter stated Eric DeCosta and Howie Roseman were calling around to everyone seeing where they could find a deal. In the end, however, the Ravens stand pat without making a move, despite being very involved in talks for both Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs, so Josh and Dante give their takes on how they feel about the Ravens deciding not to make a move. Further, the boys preview the Ravens' week 9 matchup against the Seahawks who are currently LEADING the NFC West. Seattle is playing good ball and are well lead by head coach Pete Carroll, so Dante gives his keys to victory in this game as well as examines the matchup of units, and Josh lets us know how he feels, and who he expects to have a big afternoon on Sunday. Lastly, Josh and Dante have their weekly college football wrap up and Josh asks the hard pressing question: what is wrong with Maryland football? Dante shells out his bets bets which should really be called his fade material seeing how cold he's been the last few weeks, and we get y'all into a great weekend.
