About a year ago, I sat down with my son, Sid, to record one of the most loved episodes of this podcast. We talked about what it's like to have a mom who's a sleep consultant, and people couldn't get enough of it! So, we decided to do it again.A lot can change in a year. Sid is now 13, a little older and a lot funnier, and I've grown another year in my business. Together, we thought it would be fun to revisit the conversation and share how life has evolved for both of us.In this episode, Sid shares his perspective on what it's like having a mom who works from home, how my flexible schedule impacts our family life, and some of the perks (and quirks) that come along with having a sleep consultant mom. We also talk about travel, freedom, and what it really means to build a business that allows me to show up as both a mom and an entrepreneur. If you've ever wondered what this career looks like from a family's point of view, or you're thinking about becoming a sleep consultant yourself, this conversation will give you an honest, lighthearted peek behind the curtain.Links:Sid's website: https://sidsrundown.com/If you'd like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry
The past few weeks have been full in the very best ways. Between the Jewish holidays, school closures, and celebrating my son's bar mitzvah, September and early October have been a complete whirlwind.Work has taken a bit of a back seat, but it hasn't stopped. I've still been supporting families, checking in with CPSM students, and keeping things moving, just in a way that fits this season of life. This is exactly why I built my business the way I did. It gives me the freedom to lean into family when I need to and the flexibility to pick things back up when life settles down. That's what this week's podcast episode is all about. If you've ever dreamed of building a business that bends with your life instead of competing with it, I think this one will really resonate. If you'd like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I share the story of Mia, a 27-month-old who was battling bedtime, waking multiple times overnight, and climbing out of her crib. Her parents tried a crib tent, but it wasn't safe, and it wasn't solving the problem. With a clear plan, lots of role play, and a fun technique called the Kissing Game, Mia quickly adjusted to her new sleep rules. Within days she was falling asleep confidently and independently, waiting for her OK-to-Wake clock, and making her parents proud. This case is a great reminder that toddlers are often more capable than we give them credit for. With a heavy dose of communication and follow through, even the toughest toddler sleep struggles can turn into big wins.If you'd like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

When I first enrolled in a sleep consultant certification program, it gave me the information I needed, but it lacked something important: connection. No personal welcome. No opportunity to build a relationship with the course creator. And I've found the same to be true in other programs I've joined over the years.Center for Pediatric Sleep Management is different. From the very beginning, my goal has been for every student to feel seen, heard, and supported. CPSM was built on connection, and that same value guides the way I run my business every day.In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I'm sharing why connection matters so much, not just in online education, but in any business. Parents don't just want a plan. One question I hear all the time is, “Do most people who graduate from CPSM become successful?”It's an honest question. But I think what people are really asking is, “Will I be successful if I enroll?”Here's the truth: In any field—law, medicine, coaching, sleep consulting—many people don't reach the level of success they want. It's not because the training isn't effective. It's because most people don't truly commit to their own success. The good news? That's actually an opportunity for you. If you're willing to be the exception—to take responsibility, to learn deeply, to show up consistently, and to refuse to quit—you can absolutely succeed in this industry. In this episode, I share why success isn't guaranteed but is absolutely achievable. We talk about the difference between simply finishing a program and actually using what you learn to build a sustainable business. If you're considering this path—or if you're already on it but wondering how to reach the next level—I think you'll find this conversation both honest and motivating.
This week I'm sharing something personal and real. Every summer, my kids look forward to sleepaway camp in the Poconos—it's their favorite time of year. As they say in the camp world, they live "10 for 2." But this year, the day before the bus was set to leave, my daughter Ivy got sick. I talk about what it felt like to watch one child head off to camp while the other had to stay behind—and how heartbreaking that was for both of us. But I also share the unexpected gratitude I felt in the middle of it all: the ability to just be there for her without taking time off or asking permission.Because of my work as a sleep consultant, I could care for Ivy while still supporting my clients. It wasn't easy, but it was possible—and that flexibility is something I don't take for granted. If you've ever wondered what “freedom” really looks like when you run your own business, this episode is for you. When I asked the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Facebook community for ideas about what I could share on the podcast, people came out of the woodworks to request that I share more client success stories. This recent story is a good one! I was hired by a mom who was 37 weeks pregnant and already had a two year old and four year old at home. The two year old slept great but the four year old was really having a hard time. Bedtime was taking an hour or two before she would finally settle, and then she was coming into her parents' room to sleep at some point overnight. Mom was nervous that with a new baby coming, their four year old's sleep would be disrupted if she was sleeping on the floor of their room with the baby also sharing that space. Nothing like a time crunch to solve a sleep struggle! We got to work right away and had almost immediate success. The parents were fully on board with the process and our teamwork went a long way. I hope you enjoy this story!
