This movie means a lot to Shawn.  Yes, we know it's not a great movie, but it's the first film his dad took him to see in the theaters and he cherrish's the memory.  And also, it's pronouced Data! 2023's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny  Archaeologist Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary artifact that can change the course of history. This movie isn't as bad as the 4th one but its not great either.  We spend the last 10 minutes of the show making revisions that make it a way better film.  Hopfully you won't get mad too.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2019's Jojo Rabbitt  A young German boy in the Hitler Youth, whose hero and imaginary friend is the country's dictator, is shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home. We had so much fun with this film.  It's smart, it's clever and heartfelt.  You will cry at the end.  This is a much watch!  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast the explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good . 

2019's 1917  April 6th, 1917. As an infantry battalion assembles to wage war deep in enemy territory, two soldiers are assigned to race against time and deliver a message that will stop 1,600 men from walking straight into a deadly trap. This film is a 2 hour one shot and its brilliant in how it's done.  We highly recommend this film and it's such a great watch! 2011's Hobo with a Shotgun A homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun. 1981's Friday the 13th Part 2.  Five years after the events of the first film, a summer camp next to the infamous Camp Crystal Lake is preparing to open, but the legend of Jason is weighing heavy on the proceedings. 1991's The People Under the Stairs  When Fool breaks into the home of his family's landlords, he discovers that they have mutilated several boys and kept them imprisoned under stairs. As Fool attempts to flee, he meets their daughter, Alice. Can Fool and Alice escape? 2013's Evil Dead Mia, a drug addict, is determined to kick the habit. To that end, she asks her brother, David, his girlfriend, Natalie and their friends Olivia and Eric to accompany her to their family's remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon. All hell breaks loose when the malevolent entity possesses Mia. 1986's Highlander An immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his immortal opponents, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize". Cameron joins us for the last time to review one of the ultimate Sword and Sorcery flicks.  Does it hold up? Is it good? Does it have value? 2007's Ghost Town the Movie Dean Teaster's 'Ghost Town The Movie', is a unique "Eastern" Western. It is N.C. native Dean Teaster's tribute to his father Robert Doyle Teaster and "Ghost Town In The Sky" theme park. This is a film that Shawn worked on as a boom operator in his film days.  Yes, this movie isn't very good.  Yes, the sound is bad, the acting is bad, the story is bad and the writing is bad.  But we had a good time talking about it and Shawn enjoyed reminicing about this fim.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

1986's Aliens Decades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring. This movie was picked because it was Shawn's first R rated film.  Is it as scary as I remember? 2023's Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning  Ethan Hunt and his IMF team must track down a dangerous weapon before it falls into the wrong hands. 1995's A Goofy Movie  When Max makes a preposterous promise to a girl he has a crush on, his chances to fulfilling it seem hopeless when he is dragged onto a cross-country trip with his embarrassing father, Goofy. 1995's Heavyweights  Plump kids are lured into joining a posh fat camp with the promise of quick weight loss and good times, only to find that it is a woodland hellhole run by a psycho ex-fitness instructor. This fun Disney film brought back lots of nostalgia for the both of us.  Andrew loves this film and watches it often, not the case for Shawn.  Does it hold up? Is Ben Stiller a good bad guy? 1980's Friday the 13th  A group of teenage camp counselors attempt to re-open an abandoned summer camp with a tragic past, but they are stalked by a mysterious, relentless killer. Andrew and I watch for the first time, and were completly surprised by the fact that Jason wasn't in this film.  How did we now know this fact? 1993's The Sandlot  In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures. The first of our month long series of Summer Break Movies.  The Sandlot is a fun and nostalgic film for Andrew and Shawn.  There's very little to complain about with this movie and we both love it dearly.   Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2024's Rebel Moon 2 Kora and surviving warriors prepare to defend Veldt, their new home, alongside its people against the Realm. The warriors face their pasts, revealing their motivations before the Realm's forces arrive to crush the growing rebellion. We end our month of Star Wars adjacent movies with the 2nd of what we now know will be a triolgy, of the Rebel Moon franchize.  Its a better film than the first and it does have some stunning visuals and looks amazing but once again we find ourselves not caring about these characters and just waiting for the robot to finally do something.  But if you like a good specticle, then this is your franchize.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

1985's Explorers  A boy obsessed with '50s sci-fi movies about aliens has a recurring dream about a blueprint of some kind, which he draws for his inventor friend. With the help of a third kid, they follow it and build themselves a spaceship. Now what? 1980's Battle Beyond the Stars A farm boy recruits a band of outlaws to save the planet Akir from forces that threaten to wipe them out from the face of the universe. A battle stretching beyond the stars begins here. This low budget sci fi version of Seven Samurai is, well, a low budget version of that classic movie.  It has a wide range of characters and locations.  The ships look terrible and the acting is hilarous.  The film score is amazing and led James Horner to land the Wrath of Khan film, so we can be thankful for that.  Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2023's Rebel Moon - Part one: A child of fire When a peaceful settlement on the edge of a distant moon finds itself threatened by a tyrannical ruling force, a stranger living among its villagers becomes their best hope for survival. On our first episode of our month of Sta Wars Adjacent films.  This movie definatly has Kurasawa vibes and really tries to have the look and feel of a Star Wars film.  Does it land it? or does it explode like the Death Star? 2019's Pokemon: Detective Pikachu  In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. 2022's Slumberland  A young girl discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of Slumberland, and with the help of an eccentric outlaw, she traverses dreams and flees nightmares, with the hope that she will be able to see her late father again. 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem  The Turtle brothers work to earn the love of New York City while facing down an army of mutants. 2020's Mulan  To keep her ailing father from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman disguises herself as a man and battles northern invaders in China. This live action remake of the 1998 anumanted film, is not the same type of remake like the others.  This movie takes more risks and doesn't do a shot for shot remake.  Does the movie suffer for it? Or benift? 2023's Blue Beelte  An alien scarab chooses Jaime Reyes to be its symbiotic host, bestowing the recent college graduate with a suit of armor that's capable of extraordinary powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle. We end our month of DC film reivews with Blue Beetle.  Is it great? 2023's Aquaman 2 Black Manta seeks revenge on Aquaman for his father's death. Wielding the Black Trident's power, he becomes a formidable foe. To defend Atlantis, Aquaman forges an alliance with his imprisoned brother. They must protect the kingdom. 1994's Lightning Jack  Lightning Jack Kane is an Australian outlaw in the wild west. During a bungled bank robbery he picks up mute Ben Doyle as a hostage. The two become good friends, with Jack teaching Ben how to rob banks, while they plan Jack's last heist. Andrew and Shawn watch a film from Andrews past, one Shawn had never heard of.  But what a fun romp of a movie.  If you like the Crocodile Dundee movies then you'll enjoy this.  Cheapseat Reviews the podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good. 

2017's The Hitman's Bodyguard One of the world's top bodyguards gets a new client, a world class hitman who must testify at the International Criminal Court. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial alive and on time.   Shawn loves this film, but did he hype it up too much? Did Andrew and Sam also like it? 1984's Johnny Dangerously  Set in the 1930s, an honest, good-hearted man is forced to turn to a life of crime to finance his neurotic mother's sky-rocketing medical bills. 2023's Barbie Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. We were all surprised by how much we loved this movie.  Go watch it! 2024's Lift  Follows a master thief and his Interpol Agent ex-girlfriend who team up to steal $500 million in gold bullion being transported on an A380 passenger flight. 2023's Renfield  Renfield, Dracula's henchman and inmate at the lunatic asylum for decades, longs for a life away from the Count, his various demands, and all of the bloodshed that comes with them.  We reviewed this very fun vampire flick thats kinda a sequel to the 1930's Dracula.  Did Shawn pick this movie to harras Andrew? 2022's Weird: the Al Yankovic Story Explores every facet of Yankovic's life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like 'Eat It' and 'Like a Surgeon' to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. 2022's Violent Night  When a group of mercenaries attack the estate of a wealthy family, Santa Claus must step in to save the day (and Christmas). When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero. We review the middle film in the Spiderverse trilogy and holey (get it?) crap this is a fantastic film. 2023's Guy Ritchie's The Govenant  During the war in Afghanistan, a local interpreter risks his own life to carry an injured sergeant across miles of grueling terrain. 2011's Moneyball  Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to assemble a baseball team on a lean budget by employing computer-generated analysis to acquire new players. We review this baseball film, written by Aaron Sorkin, a favorite of Shawns.  Do we all like baseball or films about it? 2022's Nope The residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery. 1992's Army of Darkness A sardonic hardware store clerk is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., where he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead so he can return home. 2023's Extraction 2  After barely surviving his grievous wounds from his mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler Rake is back, and his team is ready to take on their next mission. We have returned for the final quarter of the year.  And we come back with a bang.  This sequel to the action packed Chris Hemsoworth staring film, did not disapoint.  The one shot alone is fantastic!
