In the first episode to focus on a live-action feature, host Octaviano talks about the Detective Pikachu movie, does it faithfully bring Pokemon to life?
This week, we return to the fuzzy, high-contrast world of Tony Scott, as the late great Scott brother cranks his signature style to the max in service of a bored rich girl becoming a bounty hunter. It's 2005's Domino, directed by Tony Scott, written by Richard Kelly, and starring Keira Knightley, Mickey Rourke, Edgar Ramirez, Delroy Lindo, Mo'Nique, Dabney Coleman, Dale Dickey, Lucy Liu and Christopher Walken. It's seemingly a staple of hot couch culture, and dropped in the middle of a very interesting run in Scott's career, but its failure may have scared him into only making movies with Denzel for the rest of his life. And that's fine. Plus, it was a busy week at the theatre as we've got field reports on Challengers, Abigail and (gasp) The Mummy (1999). Other works referenced in this episode include Beverly Hills Cop 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Mummy (2017), Uncharted, Rebel Moon - Part 2: The Scargiver, Atomic Blonde, A Knight's Tale, Mr. Show with Bob and David, Monkey Man, Alien, Casper, Jurassic Park, Dune: Part 2, The Social Network, Ready or Not, Scream V & VI, The Guest, Barbarian, Malignant, Annihilation, Men, Freaky, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, LOST, 3:10 to Yuma (2007), Smokin' Aces, Exposed, The Night of the Hunter, Stop Making Sense, The Beekeeper, Unstoppable, Deja Vu, Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 123, Southland Tales, Training Day, Spider-Man, The Wrestler, Ocean's 13, Final Destination 3, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, Crimes of the Future, The Fly, SpikeTV's Blade: The Series, and The Royal Tenenbaums. We'll be back next week, as we gear up for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes theatrical release by finally watching the capper of franchise's Caesar trilogy -- Matt Reeves' 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes, which just like the entire Apes franchise is currently available to stream on Disney+. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!
2019's Pokemon: Detective Pikachu In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. We wrap up family movie night month with this fun buddy cop film, starring Ryran Reynolds and Justice Smith. This film has it's moments and it's pretty fun and silly and also kinda dumb. But it's good for the family. Cheapseat Reviews the Podcast that explores the Hollywood film industry for the greater good.
On this weeks episode I review the newest animated action edition to their franchise, Kung Fu Panda 4. I invited my little cousin Pito to come on for the first time to give me his take on this family friendly comedy. We also review Pokemon: Detective Pikachu for this week's throwback movie. Kung Fu Panda 4. Directed by Mike Mitchel and Stephanie Stine. After the climatic events of last years GateSlashers, we're back with another four spine chilling episodes about 4 horror properties you may want to check out. Dan calls upon Jake to investigate a mystery that they both thought had been buried in the finale of last year's events. Some things don't stay buried and they're going to need some classified government documents and a Chevy Impala to finally hunt down their greatest foe. I hope you're ready because GateSlashers II: I Want to Believe begins here... We're kicking this year off with one of the biggest horror television shows of all time, The X-Files. Join Dan Hernandez and Dan McMahon as they dig into the essential monster of the week show. You may know Dan as the co-writer of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, The Addams Family 2, and the upcoming Hulu series Koala Man. But to us, he's just the newest GateCrasher in our first OnlyDans episode. The X-Files follows agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as they investigate the FBI's most paranormal and fringe cases known as the X-Files. The series redefined horror television as it became on of the biggest shows of all time. The show took off to become one of the 90's biggest properties with two spin-offs and two motion pictures in the span of it's 11 seasons. Dan H. teaches Dan about the community of the The X-Files who refer to themselves as X-Philes as Dan recalls. The two dig deep into some of the series' mysteries. Dan M. talks about his love for the Smoking Man and his whole aesthetic. Dan H. also recalls what the internet was like during the time of The X-Files television run and how the community was split about if Mulder and Scully should end up together. Dan M. feels like a baby when Dan has to explain the different forums he used in his youth to talk about the show. Episodes we covered... Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot Season 7, Episode 12: X-Cops Season 4, Episode 2:Home Season 3, Episode 4: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose Season 1, Episode 13: Beyond the Sea

#DetectivePikachuReview #Pokemon #Podcast Pokémon Detective Pikachu[c] is a 2019 mystery film directed by Rob Letterman. Based on the Pokémon franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and serving as a loose adaptation of the 2016 video game of the same name,[6] it was written by Letterman, Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit and Derek Connolly, from a story by Hernandez, Samit and Nicole Perlman. The film was produced by Legendary Pictures in association with Toho. It is the first live-action Pokémon film,[7] as well as the first live-action film based on a Nintendo game property since Super Mario Bros. (1993). Ryan Reynolds stars as the voice and facial motion capture of Pikachu, with Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Suki Waterhouse, Omar Chaparro, Chris Geere, Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy in live-action roles. The plot follows a former Pokémon Trainer Tim Goodman and the titular Pokémon as they attempt to uncover the mysterious disappearance of Tim's father, Harry. Filming took place from January to May 2018 in Colorado, England and Scotland. Detective Pikachu was released in Japan on May 3, 2019[8][9] and in the United States on May 10, 2019, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, IMAX, 4DX, and ScreenX formats.[10] It is the first Pokémon film to be distributed theatrically in the United States since Pokémon Heroes (2003) and the first to be distributed by Warner Bros. since Pokémon 3 (2001). The Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus calls it an "offbeat adaptation" that should appeal to fans. The film has a worldwide gross of $433 million. It is the second highest-grossing video game film adaptation of all time behind Warcraft, another film produced by Legendary Pictures. On today's show, Marc talks about more A Plague Tale: Innocence because they just finished it and need to talk about it just a wee bit more. After that, they talk about Pokemon Detective Pikachu and Fighting with My Family, only one of which they liked—can you guess which one? Anyway, something-something pokey and hokey, cheers and enjoy the anime-zing(ly mopey) show. Anyway, that's it and that's all folks. If you're feeling extra generous, you can become a patron, donate a little something-something, or subscribe to show your support for the site, the plentiful podcasts, the various videos, the absurd art, and all of the other nonsense we make over here at Pixelated Sausage.
