Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. Joker: Folie a Deux, the long awaited and much discussed follow up to 2019's surprise hit Joker, finally hit theaters last weekend and the numbers across the board, critically and financially, leave something to be desired. The $200 million-budgeted, psychological thriller/musical/courtroom drama sequel debuted to just $37 million domestically, a soft bow certainly impacted by poor critical reviews and a D CinemaScore from audiences – a record worst for the comic book film genre. While promoting his new film We Live In Time via an interview with Esquire, Andrew Garfield spoke on his willingness to reprise his role as The Amazing Spider-Man, saying quote, “For sure, I would 100% come back if it was the right thing, if it's additive to the culture, if there's a great concept or something that hasn't been done before that's unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into. I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I'm joyful in return.” Last week The Hollywood Reporter released an editorial analysis of the state of the Star Wars franchise after being bought by Disney 12 years ago. The report crunched and discussed numbers including budgets, revenues, critical and audience reviews, viewership, and streaming subscriptions, among other verticals for all the projects beginning with The Force Awakens through The Acolyte. The latest buzz from the rumor mill via The Production List, Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduena appears to be attached to Marvel Studios Nova series. While it's still far from official casting, if true, the move could have implications for Jaime Reyes' as-of-yet unclear future in James Gunn's DCU. Spyglass has set the release date for Scream VII as Feb 27, 2026, with Neve Campbell officially reprising her role and franchise creator Kevin Williamson returning as director. Paramount is developing a live-action/CG Rugrats film, directed by Jason Moore of Pitch Perfect, with a script by SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and creator Rob McElhenney has confirmed that the show will be shooting a crossover episode with the cast of Abbott Elementary, which also takes place in Philadelphia. James Hawes, an established TV creator who most recently directed a string of episodes of the Gary Oldman spy series Slow Horses, has been tapped to helm the first two episodes of Lanterns for Max. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Katy O'Brian, the rising actress who gained notice with Love Lies Bleeding, is joining Glen Powell in The Running Man, Paramount's adaptation of the Stephen King novel Will Smith is set to reunite with director Michael Bay for the first time in 30 years for a new Netflix action movie titled Fast and Loose. The film follows a man who wakes up in Mexico with no memory and discovers he has been living a double life as both a CIA agent and a crime lord. Netflix has canceled the Jeff Goldblum led series Kaos after one season. Prey star Amber Midthunder has joined the second season of AppleTV+'s monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The Mindy Kaling-led animated Scooby Doo spin off Velma has been canceled by Max after two seasons. Insider Jeff Sneider is adding another name to the list of potential actors to play John Stewart in the upcoming DC series Lanterns, reporting that 21 Bridges actor Stephen James has emerged as the front runner. Christopher Nolan's next film with Universal now has a release date of July 17th, 2026 with Matt Damon in early talks to star.

Trujillo returns to the show to talk about the conclusion of Blue Beetle's Scarab War arc and honoring the memory of Jaime Reyes co-creator, Keith Giffen in issue 7. They also talk about what it's like to have the opportunity to work on a character like Jaime for as long as they have and how artist Adrian Gutierrez continues to level up as the series continues. Listen in and Badaboom!
Blue Beetle is the type of superhero film that seems to be in increasingly rare supply these days. It places character firmly over spectacle, and in doing so, gives us one of the most heartfelt comic book films of recent memory. If you're not familiar with the character, Blue Beetle is sort of extraterrestrial Ironman. The character, Jaime Reyes, is human, but the tech, Khaji Da, is alien. The two form a symbiosis, one where the suit is able to conjure whatever Jaime can imagine. In that way, it is sort of also reminiscent of the Green Lantern's ring. All that aside, Blue Beetle nails the vibe of someone trying to acclimate to the insane circumstance he finds himself. And it does so without sacrificing the beating heart of its story—Jaime's family. Sadly, despite being one of the strongest entries in DC's film catalogue, Blue Beetle flopped at the box office, earning a franchise low $130.8 million. Neither strong reviews or James Gunn's promise that the character would return in his soon-to-be rebooted DCU were enough to drum up interest. Truly a bummer. Now, sit back, let Khaji Da manifest you a can of Blue from SweetWater Brewing, and fire up El Chapulín! Nolan is subsequently captured and taken back to Viltrum to be executed while Kregg, a high-ranking Viltrumite general, tasks Mark with Nolan's original mission of preparing Earth for their invasion, or else they will destroy it. Meanwhile, Debbie accepts that her relationship with Nolan is a lie. As such, she stops accepting his income through Cecil and throws out his books. Elsewhere, Donald discovers evidence of his death. There is a big shift in what is going on over in the DC world. With the end of a universe, and shifting to a new universe, a lot of things are new, and some things are old. We'll be talking about the old soon, but today we're talking about the new, in Blue Beetle! If this is any indication on what is to come then the new DC universe will be much more fun than what came before it! "Jaime Reyes suddenly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology called the Scarab. When the Scarab chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he's bestowed with an incredible suit of armor that's capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle." I know that, even though the fanbase seemed to have a lot of fun with this film, that most people are probably waiting for a "big" DC film, but if you don't go see this because of some kind of apprehension, then you're for sure missing out! This is a very fun superhero film that doesn't take itself too serious, and that's needed right now! SUBSCRIBE: Apple Podcasts | Android | Spotify | Pandora | RSS Tell us what you think! DC is punching back at Marvel's extended universe with a new addition: Blue Beetle. But does Jaime Reyes have what it takes to take on Kord Industries... or more importantly, a great movie worth rewatching? In this episode, Maverick and Avalon have an animated discussion on this new movie, and how Joseph Campbell's roadmap to a great story can be followed TOO closely.
The DCEU is giving it one more try with Jaime Reyes, The Blue Beetle. Can The Beetle pull superhero movies out of the tailspin they've been in? Or will it get crushed like a bug? A Bruna Marquezine manda bem no filme? Qual o futuro desses personagens? A história é muito batida? Esse é mais um podcast do Universo DC!

In the great new DC superhero film Blue Beetle, Xolo Maridueña plays Jaime Reyes, a young Mexican-American man who stumbles across a creepy bug-like alien artifact that bonds to him and gives him superpowers. It may seem like just another story about a reluctant hero, but in execution, centering the film on a Latino family changes the familiar formula in ways big and small.Subscribe to Pop Culture Happy Hour Plus at plus.npr.org/happyhour

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes In a surprising move, the Ahsoka live-action series two episode premiere was moved from Wednesday, August 23, to, well, pretty much right now - August 22 at 6:00 p.m. pacific time. Disney has been pushing this show with tv spots, trailers, ads, interviews, and more in a way that feels more intentional than some of their previous properties. Beloved young adult book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians is coming to Disney Plus this December! The media megazoid released a trailer on Monday to hype the two episodes premiere starting December 20. The Percy Jackson books are beloved by fans worldwide, but this release has been kept fairly quiet until now. With Blue Beetle in theaters, and beating Barbie out of its four-week top spot domination, fans of DC have been overwhelmingly positive about the new superhero movie featuring relatively unknown hero Jaime Reyes as Blue Beetle, portrayed by Cobra Kai actor Xolo Mariduena. Its fellow hero movie The Flash, will premiere on MAX next week. There was a lot of talk about comparing the two movies, but Blue Beetle seems to be distinguishing itself as fresh. And of course - we have James Gunn news! Taking to Threads to respond to a fan who asked about his upcoming 'young Superman movie,' Gunn responded "I was never making a 'young Superman' movie, just a Superman movie.' This seems to contrast a statement Gunn made online in December on the recast of Superman which read "in the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part in Superman's life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill." Apple TV+ has revealed details and some photos of its upcoming series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The series will continue Legendary's Monsterverse and will take place in the past and the present after the events of 2014's Godzilla. Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell will play the same character, but an older and younger version of him respectively in flashbacks. Netflix has released the first trailer of the upcoming anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. The series returns most of the cast of 2010's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World in voice acting roles and will debut on November 17th. The fantasy series Warrior Nun, which was canceled by Netflix after 2 seasons, is set to return as a trilogy of films. The series had been the subject of a strong fan campaign to revive the show after its cancellation. Amid the ongoing Hollywood strikes, Amazon canceled previously planned second seasons of two shows - A League of Their Own and sci-fi series The Peripheral. Blue Beetle barely dethroned Barbie for the number one spot in the domestic box office this weekend, despite pulling in a lighter than expected $25.4 million domestically and $43 million dollars globally. The film is one of the softest starts in the history of the DC cinematic universe. Disney has announced that several series previously available only on Disney+ will be available for physical purchase including The Mandalorian, Loki, and WandaVision. The physical media will include a blu-ray set and extra features including special making of clips, gag reels, and concept art. The titles will be available for preorder beginning August 28th. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reunited in the first trailer for Good Burger 2. The first Good Burger movie premiered on Nickelodeon in 1997 and was a spin-off from Thompson and Mitchell's sketch routine on All That. Zach Snyder's Rebel Moon released its first trailer today as well. The Netflix sci-fi film stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnum, Djimon Hounsou, and Carey Elwes among others. We'll see a princess try to stop a war, space ships, lasers, and aliens in Snyder's concept that was originally pitched to Star Wars prior to the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm.

The Blue Beetle is likely an unfamiliar comic book character to many, so it's a shame that Jaime Reyes' origin story didn't dive more into the decades of mythology that exist. The film's biggest strength lies in its depiction of Latino culture and its family dynamics, but it suffers from horribly uninteresting antagonists and a lack of creativity. It's entertaining enough to give a positive review, just don't expect this to stick with you very long.Follow & SubscribeAaronTwitterFacebookLetterboxdPatrickTwitterAn Original Series Podcast TwitterFeelin' FilmFacebookTwitterWebsiteLetterboxdYouTubeEmail feelinfilm@gmail.comFeelin' Film on Apple PodcastsFeelin' Film on SpotifyFeelin' Film on RepodFeelin' Film on StitcherFeelin' Film on PodchaserNow Playing NetworkJoin the Facebook Discussion GroupJoin the DiscordMusic: Upbeat Party - Scott Holmes MusicRate/Review us on iTunes and on your podcast app of choice!
