In hour one, Marcus Mariota would have been a better backup for Miami than Zach Wilson, per Hoch and Crowder. Dolphins fill up some roster spots but no splash signings from Grier - the Dolphins GM is not operating like it's a ‘must win' season. Plus, Crowder reminisces about partying with Dan Uggla. After, more on the early NFL free agency period with Infinity Sports Network radio host, Zach Gelb.
Luka Dončić is just the latest athlete to be deemed too expensive by their employer. But Major League Baseball has a special solution to this problem that is at once top-secret, excruciating and embarrassing. Because when a player and his team disagree on the new salary he deserves, baseball puts them before a tribunal of judges... and lets them argue over how much that player sucks... in front of that player. All-Star second baseman Dan Uggla and journeyman outfielder Cody Ross re-confront David Samson, the former Florida Marlins president who stood between them and their millions. And they have a lesson for every athlete who dares to enter The Room. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Not a Valentine's episode but you're going to love our special list. We found the new season of Banana Ball has some interesting new rules, we track Dan Uggla's social media past, figure out where the Expos are going to play when they return and remember some baseball players who played basketball as well as baseball. For our main segment we're cleaning out the closet. That means a bunch of short stories we wrote down and then forgot about. But it gives us the opportunity to talk about some more Negro League legends, Barry Bonds and ofcourse Skip Pitlock? Could this be the week when this season of Wax Pack Heroes is wrapped up? Rob Manfred addressed the media earlier this week about A's fans following the “Reverse Boycott”, as well as MLB's handling of Pride Month. Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post joins Jake and Jordan to break down Manfred's comments and Major League Baseball's relationship with its fan bases of all demographics, and talk about Manfred's standing as MLB Commissioner. Plus, Jake, Jordan, and Chelsea touch on the disasters that have been the Kansas City Royals and the St Louis Cardinals, marvel at the unmistakable talent of Shohei Ohtani, and reminisce about a chocolate sauce-covered Dan Uggla.Merch Link: podswag.com/baseball
Now that we're a couple of months into the season, Jake and Jordan look back at the biggest off-season moves and determine which teams have come out winners, and which have come out losers. Then, Bobby Wagner is back for another edition of METSCON. How dire is the situation in Flushing Meadows? Bobby breaks it all down. Finally, the Jake and Jordan give their nominations for this weeks edition of The Good, The Bad, and the Uggla.Merch Link: podswag.com/baseball
David Samson is here, and before Mike Ryan "smokes that Pat Riley pack," Samson discusses ideas to spruce up the World Series, a make-believe World Series Radio Row, Dan Uggla smoking heaters, and the Marlins trade deadline move that made him most excited during his tenure. Then, Mike Ryan is apoplectic with rage at Pat Riley after Kevin Durant was traded to the Phoenix Suns asking questions like "Is Pat Riley no longer The Godfather?," "Is Riley washed?," and "Have the Heat wasted the Jimmy Butler window?" We can't confirm it, but Mike Schur is probably somewhere with a huge grin on his face. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. Former Braves All-Star Dan Uggla discusses memorable moments from his career, what it’s like to coach his son’s tee-ball team (which also includes Freddie Freeman’s son and Ryan Howard’s daughter), what it’s like to participate in the Home Run Derby and more!
May 21, 2013 Trevor Plouffe vs Craig Kimbrel. Trevor gets HBP, gets on base, has a collison with Dan Uggla at second.
Last week we had one-hit wonders, this week it's disappearing acts! Who are some players that could completely fall off in 2020 (5:35)? Paul Goldschmidt is a popular response but who joins him? ... Now presenting the All-Disappearing Act Team (since 2000), starting with the catcher position (11:30)! There is no shortage of catchers, especially in recent seasons. ... Between Prince Fielder, Justin Morneau, Joey Votto, and Chris Davis, who takes down the honors at first base (20:20)? ... Brian Dozier and Dan Uggla hit a wall at second base but somebody else stands above the rest at second base (29:30). ... At the hot corner, Frank is reminded of one of his favorite keepers over the past decade but he has some competition (37:40). ... Shortstop has actually seen some of the biggest names in the sport drop off rather quickly (44:00). ... We. can do a whole show on outfielders alone but we managed to narrow it down to three (50:30). ... Starting pitcher is another position filled with names we loved for Fantasy over the years but San Francisco seems to be a popular place for disappearing acts (1:01:10). ... Today's word of the day is 'acquiescence' as in Todd Gurley going public saying Deion Sanders didn't want him to wear the no. 21 jersey for the Falcons (0:06). MLB is Japan!? Should we book our plane tickets now!? NO! It won't happen (3:10). I know you're all fans of the CPBL, right? You know, the Chinese Professional Baseball League, which had Opening Day on Sunday? Well, it's season has started in Taiwain, with no fans (9:11). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me what my view was of Ronda Rousey coming out publicly with some very negative comments about fans (13:05). A NASCAR driver has now been suspended without pay for a using a racist remark in an iRacing event. Kyle Larson should be ashamed of himself, and I'm ashamed that his racing team, Chip Ganassi Racing, didn't come out stronger in their statement (19:24). Shaq offered Isiah Rider $10K to fight Kobe Bryant which reminded me of a great story about Dan Uggla and Hanley Ramirez (26:47). Review - Oliver (32:31). MLBeard Challenge Day 27-29: Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals (37:37). My pick to win it all was Trae Young in the H-O-R-S-E competition and he lost in the first round... I'm back with a winner though! #waittosee --------------------------- 'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Dan Uggla was an all-bat, power-hitting second baseman not too long ago. Because he wasn't known for his contact skills, it was a surprise to most people when he went on a 33-game hit streak in the summer of 2011. Uggla was in the first year as a Brave and he was hitting just .173 before the hit streak. How would Uggla's game translate to today's MLB? All this on today's episode.

5R66: Ethan and Chris are joined by an old South Florida friend, former Marlins play-by-play man, Rich Waltz (@RichWaltz), who is now calling NBA, college basketball and baseball games on a number of platforms, including Facebook Live, CBS Sports Net and Turner Sports. We start with the best of the Marlins teams he covered, then move into his recollections of Miguel Cabrera, Dontrelle Willis, Hanley Ramirez and "His Name is Dan Uggla!" We talk about the unique way he called Giancarlo Stanton's home runs, and move to his memories of Jose Fernandez and calling Dee Gordon's iconic home run. We close with an update on his current work and his thoughts on innovations in sports broadcasting. Ben Lindbergh and Jeff Sullivan banter about the Jose Quintana trade, an Aaron Judge anecdote, Dan Uggla’s disastrous 2008 All-Star Game appearance, and the significance of Ken Rosenthal being barred from writing by Fox, then discuss ways to spice up the All-Star Game with a skills competition that could actually work before closing with a […]
Danny Espinosa hit a three-run home run early. Michael Taylor, Denard Span, Wilson Ramos and Dan Uggla drove in runs and the Washington Nationals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over the Chicago Cubs in the nation's capital.
Episode 18 – My Heart Says Tom Koehler The latest episode of “Field of Streams” is live! In this episode, Dylan Higgins and Matthew Dewoskin are joined by Jason Collette to discuss the sibling podcasts, identifying Michael Lorenzen, Mike Zunino’s struggles, “The Mike Aviles Special,” Dan Uggla terrorizing his former employer, “Mr. Quality Start,” and […]
We discuss the big Craig Kimbrel trade. For Kimbrel, this means more opportunities, because the team is better. On the downside, you have Joaquin Benoit, who loses the closer gig. Bummer for fantasy owners who have him. We then discuss the implications to the Braves lineup. Todd likes Eric Young Jr… EY may not have proven much in the past, but he’ll have the opportunity and he’s fast. Is Devon Travis worth talking about? We thought so. He’s got a bit of speed. If you want someone who might be a little better and also have speed, Micah Johnson, is a name you want to look out for. Speaking of middle infielders, the ghost of Christmas past, Dan Uggla, has a shot at playing time with Anthony Rendon on the shelf. In one category name guys, I sorta love Billy Burns. He made the squad and might run into a few steals. We end up with a chat about some up and coming young guns. Aaron Sanchez and Daniel Norris. I’m super skeptical because Daniel Norris lives in a van. But Todd has made a bold prediction on the guy. 180 IPs, 190 Ks? Warum nicht! He has stuff. We’re blowing up on the Twitter @2020Allstars. Almost up to triple digit followers. Feel free shoot us questions there and we’ll answer them on-air. Finally, don’t forget to subscribe on iTunes below. Tim and Pete get together to hear Tim’s story about going to Syracuse, offer life advice about how to go after your dreams, and Tim hates Dan Uggla.
Ben and Sam banter about elbow injuries and then, in honor of Dan Uggla’s displacement, discuss the least-productive teams at each position.
Episode 236 FanGraphs managing editor Dave Cameron, as per usual, makes his weekly appearance on FanGraphs Audio and analyzes all baseball. Discussed: • The decline of Dan Uggla, elaborated upon. • Jurickson Profar and Shelby Miller, two top — and recently promoted — prospects. • Kris Medlen, majors’ best pitcher (for a month, at least). Alex recaps the 3 games series over the weekend against the Mariners in which the Red Sox lost 2 of 3. The Red Sox spotted the Mariners early runs in all three games, and just couldn't come back in two of them. John Lackey's proclivity to give up way more hits than innings pitched, as well as Josh Reddick's recent proclivity for the dramatic are touched upon. Oh yeah, and David Ortiz continues to crush his former organizations (Mariners and Twins). The "post of the day" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out, and in the "Around the League" segment, Alex talks about Dan Uggla's hit streak coming to an end, why the Diamondbacks are so dangerous, and the Marlins' poor decision to demote Logan Morrison. Alex also rants on Carlos Zambrano, who may be the biggest tool in the game. Alex is finally on twitter! Follow him @AlexReimer1. About time...#18goingon80.
The Red Sox took 2 of 3 from the Twins this week and Alex recaps all of the highlights from the series, including David Ortiz's terrific performance. Is Ortiz rightfully peeved that the Red Sox haven't approached him about a contract extension? How is that contrasted with Jonathan Papelbon, also a pending free agent, who hasn't expressed any frustration that the Red Sox also haven't talked to him about a new deal? The search for a reliable 3rd man in the bullpen, Erik Bedard's first two starts in a Red Sox uniform, and the astronomically high ratings from last Sunday's Red Sox/Yankee game are touched upon too. In the "Around the League" segment, Alex discusses the Indians once again emerging in the AL Central, the slumping Giants and red hot Brewers, Dan Uggla's 31 game hit streak, and more. The "post of the day" (www.thesportsstuff.com/boards) is handed out. Participation keeps the show running! "The Alex Reimer Show" is on indefinite hiatus...but we'll be back very soon. Stay tuned!
