Airman Khan expresses his strong and devoted wishes to the day of independence of the United States from Great Britain on July 4th, 1776, with a historical context behind the grievances set by the Founding Fathers against King George III for their self-determined rule from British colonial regime, contributions made by the Enlightenment thinkers to give America the chance to lead and toil on its' own for 200 plus years, and how the choice for freedom of expression, speech, religion, and dialogue impacts the modern way of life here in America. He also truly expresses why he keeps talking about economy on a weekly basis through this podcast, and what it means to him and his leadership through the airmanship for the people of America and the globe. Despite America's positive galore in global leadership since independence, the Pilot also admits about the ongoing issues that have resulted from economic disparity and economic gaps among high, middle, and low-income classes over these long years, and suggests how the gap must be mitigated to their lows under an effective fiscal system. The Pilot is now hopeful that his upcoming international tour to Mexico for an economic summit sponsored through the NCREASE platform will provide answers to some of these issues that are happening here in America through meetings with business leaders.
Despite America’s newly won independence, a bitter dispute over whether to have a capital and where to locate it almost tore the young nation apart. In this lecture recorded February 18, 2021, Robert Watson discusses the pivotal role played by George Washington in the struggle over the placement of America’s capital.
Despite America’s COVID related economic problems, there’s one sector of the economy that’s fully recovered. Can you guess which one?

Despite America's economy still being largely shut down, rent or mortgage payments are still being collected. With 30 million people losing their jobs in the last six weeks, many people are having a hard time coming up with the money. This is why there is pressure on Washington to pass yet another stimulus package. Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) explains his plan to help those Americans who may be struggling: giving $2,000 a month until America reopens for business. Italy, Europe's hardest hit nation and the first country in the world to implement a nationwide lockdown because of the coronavirus, has begun to reopen parts of its economy, after a decline in Covid-19 cases and deaths. FOX News Foreign Correspondent Amy Kelloogg spoke with us from Florence, Italy about the country's decision to ease restrictions, the different phases to get the country back to normal safely and what the rest of the world can learn from Italy. War. War never changes.Except … that’s not exactly true is it? I’d argue that war has changed demonstrably in the past two decades. It’s gotten longer, somehow less deadly, and far weirder. Also. Despite America being engaged in multiple conflicts on multiple continents … Americans are paying less attention to foreign military engagements than ever before. The current international situation, I’d say, is a bit of an anomaly.Worse, the country is fractured in a way that can be hard to understand. There’s more information than ever before and, instead of uniting us, it’s making it hard for us to settle on a consensus reality. We live in confusing, stressful, and bizarre times. How did we get here?I don’t know. If I did, I’d be selling a book and not here, with you, podcasting. What I can do is discuss a piece of art. A prescient piece of art I think helps explain how we got here. Here to discuss that piece of art is Cameron Kunzelman. Kunzelman is a media critic who has published in may illustrious publications. Marginalized communities across the country face reduced access to clean, affordable water. Despite America being the richest nation in the world, communities of poor people and people of color have limited access to clean, safe, drinking water free of harmful chemicals. Communities in Flint, Michigan have gone without clean, lead-free water for years, with lawmakers hesitating to take responsibility for this failure, and companies refusing to step in and fill in the gap for citizens. In the richest country on the planet, why are America’s very own citizens suffering from lack of access to clean, affordable, drinking water? Is it again infrastructure? Costs of “going green”? Timur Kuran is an economist, professor of economics and political Science, Gorter Family Professor in Islamic Studies at Duke University and author of “Private Truths, Public Lies: The Social Consequences of Preference Falsification.” His work spans economics, political science, history, and legal studies. Timur is responsible for coining the term “preference falsification.” So what is preference falsification? It is the act of misrepresenting ones wants because of social pressures. There is a movement going through colleges where students feel they are being suppressed. They don’t feel they can express themselves because of fear they may be called a racist, sexist, etc. Despite America being seen as a country of freedom and self-expression, 90% of students feel they cannot speak freely or engage with professors and other students in lively debate. What was the a-ha trigger moment that pushed Timur toward working on preference falsification? It happened while he was a PhD student studying economics. While learning about different theories, he looked around the classroom and knew not all of the students agreed or accepted the theories being taught. He felt uncomfortable himself challenging his professor and knew there was more to how he was feeling and how his classmates seemingly felt. This stayed in the back of his mind throughout his PhD program and he decided that after graduation he would start working on his new theory. Timur uses the 2016 U.S. election between Clinton and Trump as an example of preference falsification. Trump showed he wasn’t afraid to take on the establishment, no matter how high up they may be. He challenged the media, a war hero, and other politicians and made them look like victimizers. Trump understood “the thinkable” and “the unthinkable.” By tapping into unthinkable thoughts that had never been articulated by other politicians, Trump gave hope to millions of people who otherwise may have discounted him. Timur also uses the 2011 Egyptian uprising as well as the caste system in India as other examples.
Despite America's deep-rooted problems, the nation remains an unmatched paragon of prosperity, providing opportunity and wealth for great numbers of people. But how and why did the United States became so exceptional? Pundits debating this question point to things like America's laissez-faire economic system, values, politics, societal mobility, freedom of religion and speech, and its prioritization of equal opportunity. But there is another, often overlooked answer. In many ways this unnoticed factor is the foundation that has made other aspects of America's success possible. It is a deeply inspiring facet of the U.S. that takes us all the way back into the mists of the earliest human history.
Dr. Kori Schake co-authored, "Restoring Our National Security", with Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis and James O. Ellis Jr. The chapter appeared in the book, Blueprint for America, which was published by Stanford Universities Hoover Institute. Dr. Schake is a professor of history at Stanford, and is a research fellow at the Hoover Institute. She also co-edited a book with Secretary Mattis called, Warriors and Citizens: American Views of our Military. Key Takeaways: Schake describes working with Secretary of Defense James Mattis. She says, "We are both argumentative." Dr. Schake claims that since meeting Secretary Mattis, they have had many long running debates specifically about the political composition of the Middle East. I asked Dr. Schake about her definition of strategy. She defines it as, "The way you connect political objectives to their execution. How you identify the means and array them so you have the highest likelihood of being able to carry out your objectives." Schake’s nephew Captain Barret Schake, a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, also joined us and talked about his recent deployments to Iraq. We talk about the influence of Iran in Iraq. Dr. Schake claims that Iran is "absolutely a threat" and explains why she considers them to be a major source of instability in the region. On Russia, Dr. Schake offered a scathing rebuke. "This Russian government is genuinely evil. They mean us harm. They will do us harm when they have the opportunity." We talk about North Korea. She describes North Korea's fundamental purpose as regime survival, and, as a result, she does not see North Korea as a state willing to "use military force." She says that North Korea is trying to achieve the objective of "regime preservation." On the question of how America continues to assert a positive influence throughout the world, Dr. Schake claims that our form of government continues to be a magnet for the best talent in the world. Despite America's flaws, the U.S. continues to be a bulwark for hope and a better life for people throughout the globe. Secretary Mattis and Dr. Schake co-authored a book called Warriors and Citizens that looks at the changing nature of America's attitude towards U.S. military leaders. Due to the military being held in high regard, Dr. Schake worries that the "suits can hide behind the uniform." Furthermore, she says that the public wants the military engaged in political life in a way that will harm the public's respect for the military. Dr. Schake is publishing a book called Safe Passage, a history of the transition from British to American dominance in the international order, which will be published in the fall of 2017 by Harvard University Press. Prior to his live address at the AEO 2007 Annual Conference, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus spoke to attendees via satellite and discussed the need to fill the financial services gap in the United States through microfinance and microenterprise development services. Despite America’s enormous wealth, he points out, there are many whom it does not benefit. He also asks the question, "How many people in the United States do not qualify or are not eligible to get financial services from the conventional banking system?" Answering, he says, "You just count them, city by city, county by county--how many people simply do not qualify in the eyes of the conventional banking system? Our point is, banking and the financial services should be an inclusive system, not an exclusive system for the privileged people. So microfinance, microenterprise, all these initiatives, fill the gap."To learn more about how AEO and its members are working to fill this gap, visit http://www.microenterpriseworks.org/To learn more about Dr. Yunus and Grameen Bank, go to http://www.grameen-info.org/To listen to this podcast, click here.
