In this episode of Cloud Wars Live, Bob Evans sits down with Tirthankar Lahiri, Senior Vice President for Mission-Critical Data and AI Engines. Lahiri explains how agentic AI is transforming enterprise applications from simple question-answer systems into action-driven platforms that can reason, remember, and securely execute tasks. He details Oracle's strategy around unified agent memory, private agent factories, deep data security, and open development standards, all designed to help customers build scalable, secure, and flexible AI systems without added cost. AI Built Securely The Big Themes: Agentic AI Becomes Action-Oriented: Tirthankar Lahiri explains that agentic AI represents the next major step beyond generative AI. While generative AI focused largely on answering questions and producing content, agentic AI is designed to take action. It allows businesses to build systems that can reason, decide, and execute tasks autonomously. Oracle sees this as the future of application development, where AI becomes embedded into workflows rather than functioning as a standalone tool. Oracle Builds AI Directly Into the Database: Rather than forcing customers to move data across multiple isolated systems, Oracle's approach is to bring AI directly to the data. Lahiri argues that data is the “ground truth” and moving it creates technical debt, silos, inefficiency, and security vulnerabilities. Oracle's converged database architecture supports multiple data types, including relational, graph, spatial, and vector, inside one unified environment. This eliminates the need for separate repositories and allows AI agents to access all relevant context without fragmentation. Deep Data Security Protects Against AI Risks: Lahiri strongly emphasizes that traditional application-layer security is no longer enough in the age of AI. Since AI can generate SQL and potentially bypass interface restrictions through prompt injection, businesses must secure data directly at the source. Oracle calls this “deep data security.” He uses the analogy of protecting valuables in a safe bolted to the floor rather than simply locking the front gate. Even if someone gets inside the house, the valuables remain protected. Similarly, Oracle enforces security policies at the database level, ensuring agents can only access data users are authorized to see. The Big Quote: "You need to secure data. Need to lock your valuables into the safe deep inside the house." More from Tirthankar Lahiri and Oracle: Connect with Lahiri on LinkedIn or learn more about Oracle AI Database. "Testing isn't just about checking a box—it's about proving you're ready to succeed." When most people think about business school admissions, they focus on test scores, essays, and interviews. But for many candidates around the world, there's another critical piece of the puzzle: proving you can succeed in an English-speaking academic environment. In this episode of Inside the GMAT, GMAC Zach is joined by Elie Bechara, Head of the Duolingo English Test in Europe, to break down how English proficiency testing fits into the modern MBA application—and why it matters more than ever. Elie shares his journey from INSEAD to consulting to tech, and how he found his way to Duolingo. Then, the conversation dives into what the Duolingo English Test (DET) actually is, how it compares to other English proficiency exams, and why its fully online, adaptive format is rapidly gaining traction worldwide. You'll also learn how the DET complements exams like the GMAT, what business schools are really looking for when it comes to communication skills, and how global trends are reshaping where—and how—students pursue business education. About Elie: Based in Europe, Elie Bechara is the Senior Strategic Engagement Manager for the Duolingo English Test. He works closely with universities, governments, and higher education stakeholders across the region to develop and support fair, secure, and accessible English proficiency assessment in international admissions. Before joining Duolingo, Elie spent over a decade in client-facing roles, across Europe and MENA, in consulting and tech, at LinkedIn, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and PwC, advising institutions, governments, and organisations on strategy, transformation, and talent mobility. The GMAT and English tests are complementary, assessing different but equally critical skills: reasoning vs. real-world communication. AI is transforming assessment, enabling faster test development, improved security, and more realistic interaction-based evaluations. Global mobility trends are shifting, with more candidates choosing Europe and other regions, increasing the need for strong communication across cultures. Business school success depends heavily on communication, not just academic ability—especially in discussion-driven environments. Your application doesn't need to be "extraordinary" to be compelling—authenticity and clarity matter more than trying to stand out artificially. Preparation builds confidence for day one, ensuring you can fully engage from the start rather than playing catch-up. Exploring Google's AI Innovations and the Philanthropy Pledge Dilemma This week's episode of the Nonprofit News Feed the hosts delve into two significant developments impacting the nonprofit sector. First, they discuss Google's latest AI offerings for nonprofits, highlighting the integration of the Gemini model across Google Workspace tools. This development promises to enhance productivity by seamlessly connecting applications like Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets. Although Gemini may not yet rival other chatbots, its integration into existing Google tools provides a unified, secure platform for nonprofits to explore AI capabilities without additional cybersecurity risks. The second major topic is the recent critique of the Giving Pledge, which was featured on the New York Times' business front page. The pledge, initiated by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet in 2010, aimed to encourage billionaires to commit a significant portion of their wealth to philanthropy. However, new signups have dwindled, and there's skepticism about the actual follow-through on these pledges. The episode explores how cultural shifts and critiques from figures like Peter Thiel might influence billionaire philanthropy, questioning the effectiveness and sincerity of such pledges.

In this turkey-fueled episode of The Chad & Cheese Podcast, the boys stuff themselves like it's Thanksgiving every day (because, let's be honest, their content diet is already 90% gravy) with a little help from their friends - J.T. O'Donnell, Allyn Baily, Mo' Clough, Julie Sowash and Michelle Meehan. They kick things off by swapping heartwarming family traditions—like which uncle still thinks “pass the stuffing” is code for “pass the political hot takes”—before pivoting to the real national religion: soccer finally mattering in America now that Lionel Messi has descended from Mount Olympus to sprinkle GOAT dust on MLS fields. From there, it's straight into the AI Thunderdome, where the gang swing the banter hammer at every shiny new model like they're judging a middle-school science fair on bath salts. They roast ZipRecruiter's podcast so hard you'll smell burnt Phil from here, expose the shameless corporate-welfare grift masquerading as “HR innovation,” and deliver a fantasy-football update that's equal parts trash talk and emotional damage. They also review Indeed's latest product (spoiler: it's a feature, not a miracle), reenact actual spy-vs-spy drama happening right now in HR tech like it's a Jason Bourne movie but with worse expense reports, and wrap the whole glorious mess with a Thanksgiving dad joke so corny it should come with its own butter sculpture. Grab a plate, loosen the belt, and hit play—you'll laugh, you'll cry (from laughter), and you'll never look at cranberry sauce the same way again. AI is revolutionizing the hiring process by enhancing human interaction and focusing on skills rather than traditional resumes. Brett Waikart, co-founder of Skillfully, explains how their platform utilizes AI to create realistic job simulations that allow candidates to demonstrate their skills in a practical setting. This approach addresses the challenges posed by the influx of AI-generated applications, enabling employers to filter through the noise and identify the most qualified candidates efficiently.Skillfully's innovative method shifts the hiring paradigm from merely assessing resumes to evaluating actual performance in job-related tasks. For instance, in sales roles, candidates can engage in simulations that mimic real-life scenarios, such as handling customer objections or conducting discovery conversations. This hands-on experience not only provides employers with a clearer picture of a candidate's capabilities but also significantly reduces the time and cost associated with the hiring process. The platform also plays a crucial role in preparing students for the workforce by offering them access to these simulations through partnerships with educational institutions. This experiential learning allows students to practice and refine their skills before entering the job market, creating a feedback loop between employers and universities. As a result, students gain valuable insights into the skills required in their desired careers, making them more competitive candidates.Looking ahead, Skillfully aims to expand its capabilities by incorporating multimodal simulations that assess not only traditional skills but also the ability to leverage AI tools effectively. This evolution will help employers identify candidates who can excel in their roles by utilizing AI to enhance their productivity. By focusing on both skill validation and the human element of hiring, Skillfully is paving the way for a more efficient and equitable employment landscape. They also cover Elon Musk and Donald Trump's public breakup, the latest in Deel's corporate spying allegations, Deloitte's unapologetically intense work-life balance ad, and a billion-dollar “AI” startup that turned out to be powered by humans.SponsorsOnPay - http://accountingpodcast.promo/onpayKeeper - http://accountingpodcast.promo/keeperTeamUp - http://accountingpodcast.promo/teamup Payhawk - http://accountingpodcast.promo/payhawkChapters(00:00) - Welcome to The Accounting Podcast (01:02) - AI in Accounting: Real-World Examples (05:08) - Sage Intacct Roadmap and AI Innovations (12:02) - AI's Impact on Accounting Jobs (18:33) - AI in Auditing: Tools and Trends (26:54) - Internal Audit and AI Adoption (32:36) - Elon Musk and Donald Trump Fallout (35:43) - Impact of Tariffs and Political Alliances (37:03) - Rippling vs. Deel: Allegations and Legal Battles (40:45) - Deloitte's Work-Life Balance Ad Controversy (43:10) - Accounting Profession's Retention and Salary Issues (46:43) - CPA Title Removal Debate (49:23) - 150-Hour Rule and Master's Degree Debate (52:56) - Trump-Musk Fallout and Its Implications (01:01:07) - Alliant Group and IRS Commissioner Controversy (01:05:14) - AI Startup Fraud Exposed (01:07:08) - Conclusion and Announcements Show NotesComing soon!Need CPE?Get CPE for listening to podcasts with Earmark: https://earmarkcpe.comSubscribe to the Earmark Podcast: https://podcast.earmarkcpe.comGet in TouchThanks for listening and the great reviews!
