Today we have German Former Pro Triathlete Dirk Bockel on the show to go over the pre-race coverage on what to expect and lookout for in the 2019 Challenge Roth! Now Dirk Bockel is a former Challenge Roth champion who also happens to be the Race commentator and announcer of the 2019 Challenge Roth International Live Stream alongside Belinda Granger! Now I thought this would be a super cool episode because not only is this a perfect moment in history where they have two former Roth Winners announce the NEW Challenge Roth International Live Stream Coverage, but who better to do a pre-race coverage segment with then the one who is about to commentate on the race for an entire day! Dirk also has an incredible history in the sport with winning both IRONMAN 70.3 & Full IRONMAN distance courses and Challenge Middle and Long Distance Courses! He also has released his latest book called “The Art of Triathlon Training – a Proven guide for your triathlon training” in which we’ll talk about and how you can get a limited time 50% off which I think is an incredible offer for anyone who wants to up their triathlon training and work smarter, not harder! I hope you guys enjoy this podcast and be sure to grab a pen and paper, sit back, and relax!
So today I have Dirk Bockel on the show. It's been a long time since I've caught up with Dirk but we could have chatted for hours and likely would have if he wasn't flying to Germany to the US the next morning for his upcoming book tour. We talk about his new book The Art of Triathlon Training which is very thorough and definitely worth the read. The book is in depth. It takes you through the theory and practice of it all. From taking those first steps, doing the groundwork, the tools for the job, the training, getting race ready, race day, the day after… analyzing your race and the mind of a champion. All very important and all could be topic points and a podcast on there own. Today we dive into the journey. The mind stuff. Yes we will go down some training/racing do’s/don'ts rabbit holes but so much of what we can or cannot achieve is packaged in that grey matter between our ears. I enjoyed this chat with Dirk and I think you will too. IN TODAYS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS: The ego and losing the ego No work life balance Attacking and going all in Pivoting and life after triathlon The routine 10 days of silence The Extremes Planning and writing it down Balancing the four anchors and how to best navigate The love of the process Being who you are On days off days in training, life and business Life - it doesn’t begin with triathlon and it doesn’t finish with triathlon Developing your inner game And more Listen & Subscribe on iTunes | Stitcher Radio SHOW LINKS: Web: LIVE AND LET TRI The Books Dirk's (paid) Private Facebook Group Social: Instagram FacebookLinkedIn Join (for Free) our TRISPECIFIC CAFE https://www.facebook.com/TriSpecific http://www.instagram.com/trispecific SHOW SPONSORS: Pre-order the updated TS Ironman and 70.3 Blueprint here and save $50 – Once again I’ve gone all in on these iron and half iron distance programs. Macca and MG with a live studio audience present a podcast reviewing the latest racing from the Southern Hemisphere including IMNZ, Husky Long course, Challenge Philippines and Devonport Tri. First up Ironman New Zealand taken out by Marko Albert with a cracking second place to legend Cam Brown and a solid third from MaccaX friend Terenzo Bozzone. The guys discuss the DNF from ‘supermodel' Bevan Docherty. The girls' race was won in record time by Meredith Kessler. MG asks if this has motivated Macca…. Next up Husky Long Course in NSW, Australia taken out by a very in form Pete Jacobs. Solid performances from other Aussies, Tim Reed and Sam Appleton with the girls' race taken out by Liz Blatchford. Macca told us of his Challenge Philippines experience where even getting behind a tuk tuk didn't help. Is this the hardest race in the Southern Hemisphere? Macca mixed with royalty when the royal princes of Bahrain raced at the Challenge event. Devenport used to be one of the must do races in Australia – Macca infamously got banned from this race…….back in the day! The experts then cast their eyes over the upcoming events, notably IM Melbourne and Abu Dhabi. Will Crowie win Melbourne, can Supermodel finish the race? Abu Dhabi short course will feature the Brownlee brothers. Macca spoke about his upcoming plans – he's off to Carnivale in Rio with Michael Phelps but before that he'll be doing a charity ride in the UAE . The heir to the Bahrain throne is swimming from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain – a cool 34km and Chris is joining on this crazy endeavor. Other news: Camps are now on the website www.maccax.com/camps Places will fill fast…. Macca shoots a commercial for Under Armour's launch in Australia with Rebel Sport. The guys finish up with questions from the facebook group and Big Ring gets on the line…. Please take the time to leave a review on itunes.
