The Leslie Marshall Show
2025 AAM 'Made in America Holiday Gift Guide'

The Leslie Marshall Show

Leslie welcomes back Scott Paul, President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, for a preview of the newly released 2025 'Made in America Holiday Gift Guide.' (link: https://www.americanmanufacturing.org/blog/the-2025-made-in-america-holiday-gift-guide/)   This year's guide makes it easier than ever for shoppers to find U.S.-made products and support American workers this holiday season. New polling released with the Gift Guide shows overwhelming demand for locally made goods, with 81% of Americans saying they're as likely or more likely to buy American-made products this year. The vast majority (83%) of shoppers say they would buy more Made in USA goods if these products were more widely available. The Gift Guide bridges that gap, connecting consumers with the craftsmanship, quality and well-paid jobs that come from buying Made in America. In its 12th year, the 2025 Guide features 148 manufacturers and makers from across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. There's an American-made gift for everyone, with finds ranging from model airplane kits and stocking stuffers to jewelry and grills. Shoppers can browse the guide by state or product category, and a new segment this year highlights brick-and-mortar stores specializing in state-made goods for in-person shopping. Additionally, AAM's Made in America Directory spotlights 873 companies and their products that are not featured in this year's Guide. Leslie and Scott highlight five of the companies and their gift offerings for just a taste of the guide.  Here they are: 1 - WicR Have you always wanted to be a plant parent but were too scared you'd forget to water them every day? Fear no more: WicR is a self-watering product that makes it a lot easier. All you have to do is place the WicR at the bottom of your pot, cover it with soil, and place your plant in. Then, after an initial watering, the WicR will self-water your plant for seven to ten days. A game-changer for plant care! 2 -  Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare draws from its surrounding beauty in Cordova, Alaska, to enhance the quality of the products they make there. This company sources glacial minerals and botanicals for gentle but effective formulas, and all its products are vegan and cruelty-free. Its energy-efficient facility operates on 60-80% community hydropower, and the Certified B Corps company prides itself on a commitment to sustainability. Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare donates 2% of its revenues to organizations that protect the Alaskan environment, such as the Copper River Watershed Project.  3 - Made-Plus Footwear The vast majority of footwear today is imported. But Alan Guyan, an alum of Under Armour's shoe division, saw an opportunity to do things differently. That's why he started Made+, a luxury athletic shoe brand based in Annapolis. All the shoes are made with 100% recycled yarn — and that yarn is made from repurposed plastic water bottles. These shoes come in all sorts of designs; they even sell shoes specially designed for pickleball. If you're looking to replace those athletic shoes, Made+ is an incredible choice. (And check out their in-person storefront if you're near Annapolis!) Lastly, be sure to check out AAM's blog post featuring Made+ from last month, where you can find on their website at AmericanManufacturing.org/blog 4 - High Strung Studios For the music lover on your list, High Strung Studios hits all the right notes. This woman-owned business transforms real guitar strings into beautiful, handcrafted jewelry made right here in the USA. Each bracelet, necklace, and pair of earrings carries a touch of rhythm and a whole lot of heart, making them perfect for anyone who finds joy in a good song. Thoughtful, unique, and full of holiday cheer, these gifts truly strike a chord. 5 - Cycle Dog Bring some wag-worthy joy to the holidays with Cycle Dog, a woman-owned company in Portland, making eco-friendly gear for dogs who love to play. Every collar, leash, toy and bed is crafted in the USA using recycled materials, keeping millions of inner tubes and bottles out of landfills. Durable, sustainable and made by a team of passionate makers (and their pups), these gifts are perfect for anyone who wants to spoil their dog, spread a little holiday cheer, and do good for the planet all at once. Lastly, Leslie and Scott talk about Project MFG. What's Project MFG?  Think Top Chef — but for welders, machinists and engineers. Ray Dick, founder of Project MFG and creator of the YouTube reality show 'Clash of Trades,' is inspiring the next generation of manufacturers through hands-on competition and community engagement. AAM's website is AmericanManufacturing.org and their YouTube channel is youtube.com/@AmericanMfg (where you can watch episode's of AAM's podcast, "The Manufacturing Report") If you want to listen to episodes of "The Manufacturing Report," visit AmericanManufacturing.org/Podcast. In this episode, Bill Neff, Head of Marketing at YETI, breaks down how the legendary cooler company became a culture-defining outdoor brand without relying on massive media budgets. From his Under Armour “locker room” days to leading one of the world's most beloved challenger brands, Bill shares the operating system behind YETI's rise, which is one built on community intimacy, real relationships, and equipment designed to last forever. And this year, YETI made The Rival 50, our index of the world's top challenger brands redefining growth, a recognition that reflects the consistency, courage, and craft behind their approach. One key takeaway: Roots before reach. Bill explains why YETI invests four times more in community than brand, how third-party advocacy beats first-party hype, and why focusing on the micro-cultures around hunting, fishing, culinary, and outdoor craft fuels more growth than broad awareness ever could. Welcome To The Real Oshow,0:00 Intro1:00 College Football NIT Tournament4:10 NBA Should Adopt a Loan System Like Soccer7:50  Steph Curry & Under Armour Split Up18:00 Closing Thoughts This week on The Real Oshow, brothers Joshua and Zachary break down why college football needs an NIT-style tournament to save bowl season and turn meaningless games into real win-and-advance matchups. Joshua is fully on board with the idea, while Zachary argues that nothing will change because star players will continue to opt out and top talent will remain in flux. They also dive into the NBA, adopting a European soccer-style loan system, debating whether teams should be allowed to loan players across the league while still maintaining their long-term rights. The deep dive of the week unpacks Steph Curry's split from Under Armour after his supposed lifelong deal worth more than three hundred million dollars. The brothers explain how Under Armour's tech bets collapsed, why both sides agreed to walk away, and why Under Armour is shifting back to its core identity instead of relying on superstar endorsements.Zachary believes this move signals a major shift in the sneaker industry, where brands may pull back from massive athlete contracts that no longer guarantee a return. The episode ends with a real question about Nike paying LeBron a billion dollars and whether any athlete-driven deal is truly worth the cost when brands could simply keep more profit in-house.Enjoy The Show, Check out our YouTube page - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoqz3s_B_VYHuQtuVIDxpiQTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@therealoshow?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcTweet @zacharyowings2 with your thoughts about the podcast or suggestions for future shows.Music by Leno Tk - Greatness (Streaming on all platforms)

Good afternoon — November 17, 2025. Hosts William Alimonos and Zach Bishop deliver a fast-moving episode loaded with NFL picks, college football shifts, streaming-service drama, and late-night hoops chaos. They open with the long-awaited YouTube TV / Disney / ESPN reconciliation, unpacking ESPN Unlimited integration, DVR restoration issues, and whether YouTube TV has officially become the new “cable hub.” The guys share how it feels to finally have ESPN back, comparing the experience to classic cable days while venting about Red Zone's commercial overload. The NFL dominates the middle of the show: buzzer-beaters, overtime madness, quarterback injuries, and betting angles everywhere. They preview Bills–Texans, Steelers–Bears (with Rodgers' fractured hand and Mason Rudolph implications), Patriots at Bengals, Lions–Giants, Chiefs–Colts, Ravens–Jets, and more. William and Zach lock in picks, break down first-quarter lines, touchdown props (like Henderson and Gibbs), and discuss who to trust in coin-flip games. They also examine the Rodgers timeline and how it reshapes Pittsburgh's season and league-wide QB plans. College football talk covers playoff implications, Notre Dame's huge win at Pitt, Texas A&M's comeback, and the Thanksgiving rivalry slate. In college hoops, they hit Louisville–Kentucky, UConn and Houston's dominance, breakout players, and marquee upcoming matchups like the Champions Classic and Arizona at UConn. The NBA segment brings overtime thrillers, Kevin Durant's clutch performances, rookie flashes (Cooper Flagg, Khan Kadipal), Detroit's surprising win streak, Washington's spiral, and Curry's move away from Under Armour — plus what it means for the future of athlete branding. Throughout the episode, William and Zach mix analysis with personal stories, including attending a freezing Patriots game, on-the-ground reactions, playful jabs, and clear betting rationale. Expect a blend of weekly picks, must-watch lists, streaming rants, league storylines, and entertaining back-and-forth that tells you exactly what matters this week in sports. Michael Phelps BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Michael Phelps has been making headlines for his dramatic transformation and recent high-profile appearances. On November 5, he turned heads at the World Wide Technology Championship 2025 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, swapping out his familiar clean-shaven Olympic look for a grown-out man bun and a striking beard with hints of gray. Parade and AOL report that fans barely recognized him, sparking lively debate on social media—some praised the new style, even quipping that Phelps has "gold medal hair," while others lamented the end of his signature buzzcut era.His new look made another splash on November 12, when Phelps walked the streets of Sydney ahead of his keynote at the World Business Forum. Hello! Magazine described him as oozing confidence in a stylish outfit, far removed from his Olympic days, and noted that public reactions were sharply divided. According to ISNA News and various onlookers on social platforms like X, Phelps's appearance at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center was met with admiration and surprise, with fans calling him a "dead set legend." On YouTube, the BEASD channel produced a segment focused on his life after retirement, spotlighting his evolving image, renewed focus on family, and ongoing business ventures. At the World Business Forum, Phelps stood alongside luminaries like Amy Edmonson and Guy Kawasaki, sharing insights from his journey. His status as a sought-after keynote speaker is further solidified by mentions on Speakers.com, which credits him for delivering powerful messages on performance excellence, resilience, and mental health advocacy to audiences worldwide. In November, he also inspired attendees as a featured speaker at the ELFA 64th Annual Convention in Florida, where industry leaders praised his influence and commitment to developing future talent. On the mental health front, Phelps has ramped up his advocacy, echoing his candor from a Fortune interview earlier this year. He urges athletes and fans alike to talk openly about depression and anxiety, revealing his own struggles and the positive impact of seeking therapy. He shared candidly that vulnerability, not compartmentalization, is essential for long-term well-being.Business-wise, Phelps continues to build his portfolio through lucrative partnerships with brands like Under Armour, Omega, and Beats by Dre, and his foundation remains active in empowering youth. Social media remains abuzz with speculation about a possible comeback, thanks to his high visibility at both swim events and business forums, though there are no confirmed plans for a return to competitive swimming.Rumors of possible personal upheavals, like those hinted at in a November Instagram post mentioning "pending divorce," remain unconfirmed and have not appeared in credible news reports. For now, the headlines focus squarely on Phelps's transformation, leadership roles, and lasting impact as both a sporting legend and mental health advocate.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Summary In this insightful episode of the Chattinn Cyber podcast, host Marc Schein is chattin'with Ryan Steidl, a leading privacy and artificial intelligence attorney, to explore the evolving landscape of AI from a legal and cybersecurity perspective. Ryan shares his journey from Maryland to becoming a respected figure in data privacy and AI law, highlighting the influence of pioneering professors and his early work at Under Armour. He frames AI as an evolutionary technology that builds on existing data privacy and security issues but introduces new complexities due to limited human intervention in its processes. Their chat delves into the current regulatory environment surrounding AI in the United States, which Ryan describes as a patchwork of state laws with no comprehensive federal framework yet in place. He discusses the recent veto of Virginia's AI bill and the ongoing debate over a proposed federal moratorium on state AI legislation, emphasizing the tension between innovation and safety. Ryan also notes the role of federal agencies like the FTC and EEOC in shaping AI policy and how shifts in administration priorities—from safety to innovation—impact regulatory approaches. Ryan advises business leaders to focus on the purpose behind AI adoption, urging them to carefully assess use cases, data needs, and risk tolerance before allowing AI tools in their organizations. He stresses the importance of governance, recommending cross-functional oversight teams and clear ownership at multiple levels—from enterprise governance to tool implementation and output accountability. He also highlights the necessity of rigorous vetting and ongoing risk assessments to manage AI-related risks effectively. The chat further clarifies the distinctions between open-source AI models, public tools like ChatGPT, and private sandbox environments. Ryan warns against indiscriminate use of public AI models with sensitive data and advocates for controlled environments that offer greater security and customization. He also touches on emerging trends like synthetic data and regulatory sandboxes, which balance innovation with risk mitigation, citing Utah's AI lab as a pioneering example. Concluding on the topic of AI's impact on cyber risk, Ryan offers a nuanced view: AI can both help manage and exacerbate cyber risks depending on how it is used. He underscores the increasing complexity AI introduces and the critical role of human oversight in accountability and enforcement. Ryan predicts that insurers will push organizations toward proactive risk management rather than reactive responses, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring and anticipation of AI-related pitfalls. He closes by inviting listeners to access further resources and contact his team for guidance. Key Points AI as an Evolutionary Technology: AI builds on existing data privacy and security frameworks but introduces new challenges due to limited human intervention in its processes. Fragmented AI Regulation: The U.S. currently has a patchwork of state-level AI laws with no comprehensive federal legislation, complicated by political debates such as the proposed moratorium on state AI laws. Governance and Ownership: Effective AI adoption requires clear governance structures, cross-functional oversight, and defined ownership at multiple organizational levels. Risk Assessment and Documentation: Organizations must implement thorough vetting processes, conduct ongoing risk assessments, and maintain detailed documentation to demonstrate accountability and compliance. Safe AI Adoption Practices: Businesses should avoid using public AI models with sensitive data, favor sandbox or private instances, and consider synthetic data to mitigate privacy and compliance risks. Key Quotes "AI is more evolutionary than revolutionary, at least. It builds on a lot of topics that we're pretty familiar with, especially in cybersecurity."

Steph Curry is officially leaving Under Armour, ending one of the most surprising and influential athlete-brand partnerships in modern sports history. But how did a relationship that reshaped sneaker culture, revived an apparel company, and built a $173 million business line come undone? In this episode of Sportly, host Kavitha Davidson breaks down the full story  from the now-infamous Nike meeting where executives called him “Stefan,” to Curry becoming the face of Under Armour, to the brand's recent struggles, and why analysts say UA “never understood sneaker culture.”  We explore: The botched Nike pitch that pushed Curry toward Under Armour How Steph's signature shoes became a billion-dollar footwear engine Why Under Armour's leadership was seen as out of touch with basketball and hip-hop culture What Curry's move means for the future of the Curry Brand Whether we're entering a new athlete era where stars become owners, not endorsers like Serena Williams, Tom Brady, and Dwyane Wade. Cofield and his company are joined by Curtis Terry to examine the early struggles for the Runnin Rebels. The conversation focuses on the pressure the players are feeling, the defensive mistakes showing up on film, the easy drives to the rim, and whether UNLV can find ways to handle Memphis' size. Road questions, lineup decisions, and the mindset of the staff all come into play. NBA topics follow with thoughts on the Mavericks making a front-office change, the situation involving Anthony Davis, and why Steph Curry's move away from Under Armour is making news. Early Coach of the Year odds spark more league conversation, and the Spurs arena story adds a lighter moment. The show moves into the growing Mountain West and Pac-12 back-and-forth as both sides continue to trade verbal shots. Chris Do's Under Armour Logo Critique Misses the Whole Point of Design

Chris Do called one of the most iconic sports logos “garish.” But here's the truth: the only thing ugly about the Under Armour logo is how designers keep confusing personal taste with design. This isn't about one logo, one critique, or one YouTuber. It's about the dangerous way our industry lets opinions outweigh principles and why that mindset is killing real graphic design. Here's the part that'll sting: most designers would've agreed with him. Because too many of us still judge work by how it looks, not by how it works. We've become addicted to trends, grids, and “aesthetics” instead of ideas, function, and strategy. Real designers think...the rest decorate. Which side are you on?This week on The Angry Designer Podcast, we take apart Chris Do's Under Armour critique and reveal why his argument, like most hot takes online,  misses the real point of logo design. We're not here to hate. We're here to remind you what good design actually means, and why “taste” will never beat thinking. In this episode you'll discover:- Why confusing taste with design is the biggest mistake graphic designers make- The truth about what makes a logo work and why Under Armour nails it- How to build design opinions on principles, not personal preferencesThis isn't about Chris Do. It's about you; the designer who thinks good taste makes good work. Because if you're judging logos by how they look instead of what they do, you're already on the wrong side of design.Stay Angry our Friends –––––––––––Join Anger Management for Designers Newsletter at https://tinyurl.com/mr4bb4j3Want to see more? Break 1: Kia MOG STORY 1: Fox Theatre continues Coca-Cola Film Series with screening of 'The Phantom of the Opera' The Fox Theatre is bringing a little magic—and a lot of nostalgia—to its Coca-Cola Film Series with a special screening of the 1925 silent classic The Phantom of the Opera on Oct. 29. Here’s the twist: the film will be accompanied live by organist Ken Double on the Mighty Mo, the Fox’s legendary 1929 Möller pipe organ. If you’ve never heard it, you’re in for a treat—it’s massive, intricate, and honestly, a masterpiece in itself. But that’s not all. Expect Phantom-inspired photo ops, a peek into the Fox’s own history with the film, and, for Marquee Club guests, custom watercolor portraits by Lexi Brite’s team. Exclusive, artsy, and unforgettable. Tickets? Head to foxtheatre.org. STORY 2: Iconic Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli reflects on 30 years of music ahead of Gwinnett concert For over three decades, Andrea Bocelli has been enchanting audiences worldwide with his voice—one that feels like it was made to stir souls. At 67, the legendary tenor from Italy, has sold over 90 million albums, but it’s his live performances that truly leave people breathless. On Saturday, Oct. 11, Bocelli will bring his magic to Gas South Arena in Duluth, performing a mix of operatic arias, crossover hits, and selections from his album A Family Christmas. With Maestro Steven Mercurio conducting and surprises promised, it’s a night not to miss. STORY 3: Gwinnett honors Jimmy Carter's life on his 101st birthday Even though former President Jimmy Carter wasn’t there in person last Wednesday, Tiffany Parks felt his presence everywhere. As volunteers hammered and sawed away at what will soon be her new home in Lilburn, she couldn’t help but think of the man who championed Habitat for Humanity for decades. “This is special—for him, his family, his legacy,” Parks said. Wednesday would’ve been Carter’s 101st birthday, and Gwinnett County honored him in every way imaginable: a Habitat build, a mural at Best Friend Park, blue lights on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, and heartfelt tributes. “He showed the world that everyone deserves a home,” said Habitat’s Eric Miller. STORY 5: EXPLORING GWINNETT'S HISTORY: Your Parcel ID and the 1820 Land Lottery Ever wonder where your property’s parcel ID comes from? Turns out, it’s not random—it’s rooted in history, all the way back to Georgia’s 1820 Land Lottery. Back then, the state divided up land taken from Native Americans through treaties and forced removal, creating opportunities for white settlers to claim plots. Gwinnett County, established in 1818, was part of this process. Surveyors carved the county into districts and 250-acre lots. The first digit of your parcel ID? That’s your lottery district. The next three? Your original land lot. The last three? Your slice of that lot today. Curious who won your land? Visit the Gwinnett Historical Society in Lawrenceville! We’ll be right back. Break: LILBURN DAZE STORY 6: The Lights Fest coming to Lanier Islands Resort On Oct. 25, the night sky over Lake Lanier will come alive with thousands of glowing lanterns as The Lights Fest makes its Atlanta-area debut at Lanier Islands Resort. Picture it: a lakeside evening filled with music, dancing, and the quiet magic of lanterns drifting into the dark. Hosted at PineIsle, the event invites people to release biodegradable lanterns—simple rice paper, bamboo, and string—symbolizing hope, remembrance, or just letting go. Some come to honor loved ones, others to dream, and some just to soak in the beauty. A portion of proceeds supports the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Want to stay the night? Lanier Islands is offering a special package with tickets and accommodations. Details at lanierislands.com. STORY 7: Georgia Tech Switching to Under Armour from Adidas for Uniforms, Apparel Big news for Georgia Tech fans: starting July 1, 2026, Under Armour will officially take over as the Yellow Jackets’ provider for uniforms, apparel, footwear, and accessories. Yep, the same brand outfitting Notre Dame, Maryland, and Wisconsin is coming to Atlanta. This partnership isn’t just about gear—it’s about innovation. Under Armour’s investment includes NIL opportunities for student-athletes and even hands-on roles in product design. Fans? Expect more Tech merch hitting stores soon. Fun fact: Georgia Tech was Under Armour’s first collegiate client back in 1996. Now, nearly 30 years later, they’re reuniting. Full-circle moment, right? Stay tuned for uniform reveals! We’ll have closing comments after this. Break 4: Ingles Markets Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast.
