The ASX 200 kicked 80 points to 8789, or 0.9%, after a relatively benign CPI number came in at 4%. Most sectors of the market rallied, with the exception of the banking sector, which still is under a cloud due to economic headwinds from higher inflation and higher interest rates. The Big Bank Basket closed relatively unchanged. We did see insurers, though, kick slightly higher, with SUN up 4.8%, and other financials also doing okay. ASX up 1.9%, and SOL up 1.8%. We also saw the REIT sector put in a good day today, with GMG up 3.9%, GPT up 2.9%, and SGP up 4.8%, on the hopes that the last rate rise was the last rate rise.Industrials were firm across the board, with retail doing especially well. WES up 3.0%, and JBH up 4.7%. TLS also had a good day, up 1.3%, together with REA after the Irish acquisition yesterday, gaining 5.9%. WOW and COL also rising slightly. In the healthcare sector, CSL continued to push higher, up 1.1%, although the technology sector did take a bit of a break today, with WTC off 1.2% and XRO falling 1.9%. The All-Tech Index was up 0.8%, but it was all about interest-rate-sensitive stocks rallying hard.The resource sector, too, was modestly higher, with BHP up 0.3%, RIO up 1.6%, and the gold sector doing okay, although nothing stellar. NST continued to run higher on rumors of an increased offer from Goldfields, but we continue to see pressure on lithium stocks as the price in China languishes after a miserable September. PLS dropped 0.3%, and MIN dropped 0.2%. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas space, WDS rose slightly, as did STO, and we saw a little bit of selling in the uranium sector.In corporate news, LLC had a good day, jumping more than 11.3% on an update on the sale of its stake in Keaton Retirement Living. A blast from the past: CTT had a very good day today, up 30.6% on news from Italy on a potential VAT win.Economic news dominated today, with the CPI coming in at 4%, slightly below forecasts. Economists around the country were quick to pronounce on whether the RBA would be raising rates in November or whether the RBA would be on hold going forward. Lucy Ellis from Westpac said a November rate rise is now a base case.Asian markets pushed higher with Japan up 1.9%, HK flat and China up slightly10-year yields lower at 5.34% on CPI. US Futures lower. The ASX 200 rose 30pts to 8709 (0.3%) after the RBA raised rates by 25 basis points, which has been well and truly priced into the market. After an initial dip, the market pushed a little higher. The banking sector was a little weaker, with CBA down 0.8%. The Big Bank Basket fell to $262.85 (-0.3%). Although the insurance sector was mixed, other financials again were mixed as well, with MQG pushing up another 0.9% and a recovery in the likes of PNI and NGI.Industrials were mostly firm, with WES rising 1.0%, ALL rising 0.8%, and even JBH rising 1.3%. Tech stocks had a slightly better day, with WTC pushing up 3.1% and XRO also up 0.6%, whilst TLS eased slightly and the REITs came under pressure as GMG cancelled a data centre in Lane Cove.A far better day for the resource sector today, with BHP up 1.4% and Rio up 0.8%, and signs of life in the lithium market with PLS up 0.8% too. Gold miners steadied and pushed slightly ahead, with RMS up 3.5% and GMD up 0.8%. Meanwhile, in the energy sector, the oil and gas majors WDS and STO lost around 1%, and uranium stocks came under a smidge of pressure.In corporate news today, CDA shot the lights out with demand for its drone components doubling profits, ensuring a 24.0% rise. REA also announced a $409m acquisition in Ireland. It rose 0.2%. MP1 rallied 9.4% as it announced a new deal and PRN also had a good day.In economic news, the RBA raised rates again. Household spending was unchanged in August according to the ABS and Employers grow more cautious on hiring.Asian markets drifted lower with Japan down 1.0%, HK down 0.3% and China up 0.3% .10-year yields at 5.37%. US Futures lower. The ASX 200 rose just 15 points to 8,680 (0.2%) today in listless trade ahead of the RBA and a big week for US Fed chiefs. The banking sector was firm, with CBA up 0.5% and MQG also having a good day, up 2.3%, with the insurers better on higher bond yields. Financials generally were slightly firmer, although PNI fell 2.0% after news from one of its funds on private credit exposure. A slight upward bias to the industrial space, with TLS up 0.6%, WOW up 1.0%, and COL up 0.8%. Tech was mixed, as WTC rose 1.7%, with TNE down 0.4%. Utilities were also in demand on defensive buying, with ORG up 1.0% and APA up 1.3%.The healthcare sector was once again firm, with CSL continuing to push ever higher and COH also doing well, up 2.0%. REITs were also slightly firmer despite yields increasing, with SGP up 1.7% and SCG up 0.9%.In the resource space, we saw BHP, RIO and FMG all under pressure on fears of lower iron ore prices, and gold miners also falling on the back of higher yields and inflation concerns. EVN fell 3.0%, and NEM fell 2.4%. We also saw selling in the rare earths space, with LYC down X%, while lithium stocks drifted lower.In the energy space, WDS rose slightly, as did STO, up 0.2%, but KAR had a nasty day on the back of production guidance being cut due to electrical issues at Baúna. Uranium stocks also slipped slightly, with PDN down 2.0%.In corporate news, NST rejected a takeover offer from Gold Fields, with a mixture of scrip and cash proving not generous enough. We also saw three ASX-listed private credit funds suspended on valuation concerns.Nothing locally on the economic front as we await the decision from the RBA, which looks like a laydown for another 25-basis-point rise tomorrow afternoon.Asian markets drifted lower with Japan down 0.2%, HK up 0.6% and China down 2.4%.10-year yields at 5.4%. US Futures lower. A lot can happen in a decade…   If you go back to 2016 and mention the terms “TikTok” or “AI Slop” in casual conversation, nobody will have any idea what you're talking about, mainly because TikTok had just launched and the AI Slop that we've all come to know and loathe was still a few years away from becoming a nightmarish reality.   Released September 18, 2026, CURSUM PERFICIO, the 12th studio album by New York thrash veterans ANTHRAX, represents the band's first new music since 2016's For All Kings and a return to the world of metal with easily the most unusual album title and bizarre album artwork of their entire catalog.   To be fair, one shan't judge an album by its name or its artwork alone. CURSUM PERFICIO has a nice variety of old school “ThrashThrax” moments mixed in with darker, heavier tracks that would sound right at home on Persistence of Time or Among The Living. And just to make your brain numb with wonder, there's one track with such complex time signature changes that it literally sounds as mind boggling as imagining “if math was a color”.    Overall, it's a grower, and while it does contain elements from their entire back catalog in terms of sound, there is a unique sonic quality present that properly defines ANTHRAX here and now, in the mid 2020's. The songs have a deceptively streamlined flow to them that are lean on riffs yet potent in their arrangement and delivery. Basically, if you're an Anthrax fan, you're going to enjoy this album. On September 11, 2001, I was 21 years old and working at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, where crews had spent the previous day loading in the band 311 for a multi-day event. After working a 16-hour shift, I was asleep when my mother woke me to say that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. At first, I assumed it was a small aircraft and a tragic accident. That changed when I went downstairs and watched the second plane strike the other tower. Standing in my parents' living room, I looked at them and said, “We are under attack.” The fear quickly became personal because I had family working on Wall Street and elsewhere in New York, while nobody yet knew the full scope of the attacks or whether more were coming. For many Americans, including me, the attacks shattered a long-held sense that the United States was largely insulated from the kind of terrorism and political violence that had been associated with conflicts overseas.The attacks also changed the direction of my life. Before September 11, I was studying entertainment law and planned to pursue a career as a sports agent, but afterward I became focused on understanding the forces behind the attacks and the ideology of groups such as al-Qaeda. I changed my major to political science with an emphasis on the Near East and began studying the history of the region, the relationship between the Muslim world and the West, and the development of modern jihadist movements. That study also made clear that September 11 did not emerge without warning, following earlier attacks that included the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa, and the attack on the USS Cole. The attacks marked the end of a period of personal and national innocence, replacing assumptions of security with a recognition that ideological violence could reach directly into American life. A quarter of a century ago, we lost the lives of nearly 3,000 people in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia on September 11, 2001. On September 11, 2001, I was 21 years old and working at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, where crews had spent the previous day loading in the band 311 for a multi-day event. After working a 16-hour shift, I was asleep when my mother woke me to say that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. At first, I assumed it was a small aircraft and a tragic accident. That changed when I went downstairs and watched the second plane strike the other tower. Standing in my parents' living room, I looked at them and said, “We are under attack.” The fear quickly became personal because I had family working on Wall Street and elsewhere in New York, while nobody yet knew the full scope of the attacks or whether more were coming. For many Americans, including me, the attacks shattered a long-held sense that the United States was largely insulated from the kind of terrorism and political violence that had been associated with conflicts overseas.The attacks also changed the direction of my life. Before September 11, I was studying entertainment law and planned to pursue a career as a sports agent, but afterward I became focused on understanding the forces behind the attacks and the ideology of groups such as al-Qaeda. I changed my major to political science with an emphasis on the Near East and began studying the history of the region, the relationship between the Muslim world and the West, and the development of modern jihadist movements. That study also made clear that September 11 did not emerge without warning, following earlier attacks that included the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa, and the attack on the USS Cole. The attacks marked the end of a period of personal and national innocence, replacing assumptions of security with a recognition that ideological violence could reach directly into American life. It's one of those dates when Americans of a certain age can answer a simple question: Where were you when you heard? Now, 25 years later, the Voices of Oklahoma Oral History Archive preserves the memories of Oklahomans who experienced that terrible day in very different places. Some were in Oklahoma. One was in Washington. One was living in New York City. And remarkably, one had been inside the World Trade Center just one day earlier.

This year marks 25 years since 9/11 — remembered for the lives lost that day, but also for a health crisis still unfolding for those exposed to Ground Zero's toxic dust and debris. Jacqueline Moline, MD, who helped launch medical surveillance for 9/11-exposed patients within weeks of the attacks, joins Sandra Lindsay, DHSc, MBA, to describe the earliest symptoms she saw — including the relentless "WTC cough" — the far wider range of people affected beyond firefighters and police, from construction workers to Lower Manhattan residents, and how the health toll unfolded in waves over the following decades. As one of the only 4 survivors above the impact zone in the South Tower, his incredible story is one of survival, recovery and hope. Praimnath was working on the 81st floor of the South Tower when he watched the second hijacked airplane approach his building. He saw the aircraft tilt just before striking the tower and, with only seconds to react, dove beneath his desk. He survived the impact and the collapse of the South Tower. His story of survival is also a story of faith. Among the few physical reminders he kept from that day are the shoes he wore to work—shoes whose soles were melted and covered in ash. “I still have the shoes I wore to work that day. The soles are melted, and they're caked in ash. I keep them in a shoebox with the word ‘deliverance' written all around it. They're kind of like my ark, a reminder of God's presence and the life I owe to him.” — Stanley Praimnath Praimnath keeps those shoes in a shoebox marked “deliverance”—a deeply personal reminder of what he believes was God's presence in the midst of the catastrophe and the life he believes he was given back. Twenty-five years later, he will return to that day not simply to remember what happened, but to share a message of courage, recovery and hope. The commemoration will also honor the men and women who continue to put themselves in harm's way to protect others. Local police, sheriff's and fire department leadership will be present, and the ceremony will include special recognition honoring the service and sacrifice of local law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency personnel. “September 11th is a day we must never forget—not only because of the lives that were lost, but because of the courage and sacrifice displayed by so many,” said organizers. “This anniversary gives our community an opportunity to remember those we lost, listen to someone who lived through the tragedy, and express our gratitude to the people who continue to serve and protect our community every day.” Approximately 3,000 innocent people lost their lives in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As the nation marks the 25th anniversary, Calvary Christian Center invites residents throughout the Yuba-Sutter community to gather together for a solemn and moving remembrance.

Michael Hingson was hosting a training session in his offices on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower on the morning of September 11, 2001. As he reached for some paper, Hingson felt and heard a muffled explosion and the tower bent drastically before snapping back into place.Of course, it was American Airlines Flight 11 crashing into the tower - the first of four planes hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists as part of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history.Hingson was born blind but knew every inch of his office and the North Tower. Soon he, his guide dog, a colleague, and everyone else in their office began the long descent to the ground floor.In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Hingson explains why he was so meticulously prepared for an emergency, how he quickly got a clue abut the cause of the explosion as soon as he entered the stairwell, and what it was like going down 78 floors with countless other people as the firefighters started to make their way up the stairs.Hingson also shares escaping from the World Trade Center only to discover the South Tower was also on fire and what it was like getting caught in the dust storms from both towers collapsing to the ground near him.Finally, Hingson details the fantastic performance of his guide dog, Roselle, that day and how his experience and Roselle's actions actually led to a career change as an author and public speaker.

Will they be patient with him and let him finish his art project because he really doesn't like when he doesn't get to finish his art project? Will the world love him as much as I do? This analogy is not random: I am dropping my deeply feeling sensitive child off at Kindergarten for his first day of school tomorrow, and the jitters and unease of that feel so akin to publishing a book.
