Patty has an extensive career journey in nursing and medical leadership and shares her personal experiences with hypertension. This episode offers invaluable insights and practical advice for women to take control of their heart health.4 Ways to Make Heart Care A Priority1. Focus on Your Self-Care: Make time for relaxation, exercise, and proper nutrition. These foundational elements are crucial for maintaining overall well-being and heart health. "It's more important than anything else that you take care of you, that you have some time to relax, time to spend alone, time to take a walk, time to exercise, time to eat right."-Patty Jassak2. Recognize and Communicate Symptoms: Understand that symptoms of heart disease in women can be subtle and often misinterpreted as stress or anxiety. Patty emphasizes the importance of proactive health management. "We often dismiss those symptoms until they're flat in your face and you can't ignore them anymore, and that sometimes, unfortunately for some people, can be too late."-Patty Jassak3. Utilize Technology and Resources: Leverage available tools like smartwatches, health apps, and blood pressure monitors to keep track of your heart health. Make use of reputable resources like the American Heart Association for guidance and support. "A great resource is the American Heart Association. Discover and evaluate the best treatments."- Natalie Benamou4. Communicating with Healthcare Providers: The more information you can deliver in detail the better the health outcomes. "Speak to healthcare professionals and describe your symptoms: I've been dizzy, I'm nauseated, my arm has been tingling, I'm having tightness in my chest, I feel like I have acid reflux."-Patty JassakImportant Resource: Heart Attack Symptoms in WomenJoin us July 25th for a special event for Heart Care is the New Self-Care with Patty Jassak. Unexpected traumatic events can alter the course of our future. It's up to us to make decisions on the path that we're about to take and move forward. On today's episode, I am sharing my personal personal story about seizing the moment, understanding that unexpected things happen, and it's what we do next as leaders that matters most.In 2008, I suffered a traumatic brain injury. My life was forever changed and I have come to appreciate the smallest acts of kindness. It is why I believe we need to make every moment count. Key Takeaways:As leaders, we have a choice. When faced with a challenge we can rise above it or let it consume us. I hope that you will feel inspired to know that rising above is within your reach.Finding Purpose:I found that when we are at the lowest point from an unexpected circumstance there is only upward momentum. Volunteer, find a cause that lights you up and take on experiential leadership roles. The Power of a Strong Community: I discovered through my leadership journey with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association how vital surrounding ourselves with the right people, who level us up to be our best selves matters. Stepping into Leadership: “Do something that scares you every day”- Eleanor Roosevelt. Joining the HBA board and becoming President was a big leap forward. I learned by doing, and found lifelong friends. The journey is hard enough, don't go it alone. Find leaders you admire and connect with them. You will be surprised and delighted by the outcome.Lessons from the JourneyWhen life throws unexpected challenges our way, we can find the strength to pivot and embrace change. I would not have been able to rise to leadership, succeed in my career without having the right people around me. There is power in external advisors and sponsors. Surrounding yourself with supportive people can make all the difference. In my rise to leadership, the secret to real success is it takes hard work. You have to tap into your brave, embrace resilience, be persistent and find the courage to take on new roles, even when you're not sure you're ready."Only you can summon the courage to take a step forward to leadership. It is your courage that will empower you to persist when you are faced with a challenge.”-Natalie Benamou, Founder, HerCsuite®"When you are faced with a choice, listen to the messages your heart is telling you, open yourself up to the possibilities, and embrace all that you are meant to be.”-Natalie Benamou, Founder, HerCsuite®“The key to taking a new leadership role is to roll up your sleeves and put in the work. If you've been waiting for the right moment, I'm here to tell you there is no perfect moment- just do it." -Natalie Benamou, Founder, HerCsuite®"One of the most important things we can do as a leader is to express gratitude. Be thankful to friends and colleagues and your team. Let them know they matter." -Natalie Benamou, Founder, HerCsuite®A Message of HopeThis personal story proves that even in the face of adversity, we can shape our future. By embracing unexpected change and staying resilient, we can overcome obstacles and make a difference. Feeling inspired? What would happen if you had limitless possibilities? Welcome to a momentous celebration on HerCsuite® Radio as we mark our 150th episode. Hosted by Natalie Benamou, this podcast takes you on a journey of self-discovery, self-belief, and unearthing your potential.Let's dive into an episode full of revelations and inspiring leadership insights.Four years ago, an event led to the formation of a close-knit community of women leaders, fostering connections and fast-tracking their goals. A chance conversation with Melanie Neal sparked an idea that would later transform into a thriving platform, HerCsuite® Network, which continuously delivers impactful events.Have you ever been told ‘you're really good at that?' and discounted the comment? Women are often discouraged from acknowledging their talents. Today, we're shifting that narrative to fully owning our gifts and sharing them with the world."Through the course of her entrepreneurial journey, Natalie realized her passion for curating events. However, she grappled with recognizing this as a strength, blinded by preconceived beliefs. Reflecting on her values and aligning them with her passion led to the creation of a new solution for women at organizations who are short on time and resources: Turnkey Speaker Packages.Quote: "While hosting events, I had the unique opportunity to listen intently, understanding what women needed. As those who know me will attest, when I see a challenge, I'm compelled to find a solution, even before anyone knows there is an issue."Natalie's vision for the future extends beyond just providing solutions. She envisions a world where women face no constraints and can rise 'higher, further, faster' without stress. The introduction of monthly speaker events for women at organizations seeks to fulfill this vision.“I've been fighting with one hand tied behind my back. What happens when I'm finally set free?” Carol DanversHow would you feel if you are finally freed from constraints? Use Laughter as a Coping Tool: Life can be overwhelming. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is to take a step back and find the humor in our situations. It's okay to laugh at our mistakes and missteps - it helps us process them and move forward.2. Laugh at the Small Stuff: We often get bogged down by minor problems and let them ruin our day. Heather suggests that we laugh at these trivial issues to preserve our energy for more significant challenges.3. Share Your Funny Stories: Expressing our humorous experiences not only spreads laughter but also helps us connect with others. It makes people feel seen, understood, and less alone in their struggles.4. Use Humor to Normalize Difficult Topics: Heather uses her comedy to discuss difficult subjects, like her cancer journey. We all have barriers that can be blocking us from moving forward. On this week's episode of HerCsuite™ Radio, you will hear from me, Natalie Benamou, your host, as I share personal experiences both with members of HerCsuite™ Accelerate Mastermind and some life lessons along the way.Last week, an Accelerate Mastermind member, gave a quote that I have been obsessing about. It is a profound idea, about removing the barrier that is in our way.“Keep knocking on the front door. If there is a bodyguard, go to the back door and get around the bouncer.”- Madeline Onumbu, Member HerCsuite™ AcceleratePersonal StoryNow I want you to close your eyes. Think back to a time you went to a concert. Imagine the bouncers at the door and thinking there was no way to make it to the front of the line and meet the artist. And something magical happened. You were whisked to the front of that crowd, ushered in, and could sit down and ask any question you wanted. Meeting that star transformed your life. It can happen!I have had the amazing opportunity in my life to be at many stage doors. My oldest daughter is a creative writer and musical theater performer. We went to so many shows and stood in lines at the stage door…waiting for that moment. Usually, the shows were mostly ones she really wanted to see. Until Al Pacino had a show on Broadway. Anyone who knows me, has an inkling that the star of The Godfather…on Broadway? I thought–We have to GO! AND STAGE Door.As it turned out, his show was not a hit. In fact, many in the audience got up and walked out before intermission. What?? Yes. I had never seen this before. And I saw that moment as an amazing gift. I thought… fewer people at the stage door! There is an art to going to the stage door and getting to meet someone. It comes down to timing. As people were leaving, my brain was laying out a plan. That night, after the show, my daughter and I used all of our techniques to get to that stage door. We were still 2nd row, but close enough to have a chance to meet him. I had hope. This was going to be incredible! Al Pacino walks out. I am ready…standing on my tip toes. Then it happened. This super tall guy elbows me in the neck! I bend over and he moves in and gets the autograph.Lessons we can all learn from this story (find out more in the blog post below!):Assess Your BarriersGetting Stopped in Our TracksWhat Happens NEXT MattersUpside to the StoryYour Stage Door3 Ways to Remove Barriers:Remove negative self-beliefs. Ask yourself what ideas about yourself are you holding to be true that are in your way? Push back on any misconceptions you have in your brain. They don't matter. What does matter is believing anything is possible. Because it really is.Assess all the options and be ready to move forward. Ask questions, be curious. Find someone who has walked through the door before you. What did they do? Was it timing, connections, or ability? Look for the secret way in.Strategically form alliances. In business, this could be an executive sponsor who will advocate for you. Before presenting to the board, or senior leaders, make sure you are on the agenda and socialize your information before the meeting. In your personal life, surround yourself with people who will shout your name in a room of opportunities “You deserve a VIP pass through the front door. I believe all women should have that red carpet runway to their future. You have exactly what you need to move past the bodyguard and go through whatever door is open to you. I believe in you. You Got This!”- Natalie BenamouThank you for spending your time with me today. This program is sponsored by HerCsuite™ Accelerate Program. Opening Doors to Your Future. Have you ever experienced self-doubt? What did you do to take action and move past it? In this special behind the scenes episode, host Natalie Benamou shares how she overcame obstacles, fear and most importantly pushed past fear, and 'did it anyway'.Everyone has self-doubt and it can stop us in our tracks. The most important thing we all can do is move through, not over or around but through the fear. In the end we have two paths to take. The first takes us on a courageous journey where we do "something that scares us every day" - Eleanor Roosevelt Even, when it is hard. When we feel like we are bungie jumping off a bridge, and we don't see the safety net. For many of us it can feel the way Denzel Washington describes it as "Fall Forward". The second path is to allow our fears to stop us. This week, HerCsuite™ launched Her Health Equity Council. I had anxiety about this launch. As Meghan Draper, our Creative Director shared with me-when something is close to our hearts it is the hardest to do. I meditated and prayed on the idea. For me there was only one way forward and that was through.I know that for many who have anxiety it isn't simple. It can be daunting. You may surround yourself with positive words like 'Fear is Boring' and still fear can grab a hold of your heart and make everything seem like it is out of your reach.Do you know that feeling? Despite all the data - or evidence to the contrary about how we are worthy, in our minds we think, yes but... instead of yes and-to quote Karen Hough , Founder and CEO of Improv Edge. What should we do when this happens? Is it as simple as mindfulness, meditation and taking walks? Probably not. Here is what I know. We are the result of the people we surround ourselves with. In my case, I have surrounded myself with many amazing women in HerCsuite™. I have a small and mighty team, advisors, friends, cheerleaders, mentors and truly amazing women and so many have stepped in to be speakers, coaches, facilitators and more. Our newest programs have Chair roles and Cathy, Eliza, Lydia, Naomi, Elaine, Margaret, Melanie, and Laurie, you all add a next level of expertise! When I was getting ready for the launch event, I had a total panic and thought what if...and when I started the virtual program, despite having prepared, rehearsed and feeling ready with what I wanted to say. I rushed. I felt not in my zone. What do you do when that happens? Here are my 5 Tips to get back on track in any situation.5 Tips to Move Past Fear and Do it Anyway1. Know You Are Not Alone.2. Slow Down. Don't Go Fast. 3. Stay present and listen.4. Open It Up to Others to Participate. 5. Take up Space.Circling back to our topic today which is truly about Fear And Doing it Anyway.I want you to close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Let it out and then let your mind see the possibilities. What if you Succeed? What if you helped one person today? What if whatever you share, even if it isn't perfect really makes a different. Then imagine what would happen if you didn't do those things.Today's podcast is sponsored by our new program Her Health Equity Council Join the Movement and share your #HerHealthEquityPledge on social. You may know Holley Gerth as the author of inspiring devotional books and co-host of the popular podcast, Not Just Small Talk, but today we are talking about a book I'm very excited about because I love some wonderful introverts! Holley's book, The Powerful Purpose of Introverts-Why the World Needs You to be You can change your life, introvert or not. I told her I was a raging Extrovert and she smiled benignly and continued to encourged me to be exactly who God made me to be. So refreshing! Trying to be someone you're not can be so lonely and exhausting. Six years ago, Holley faced burnout and began researching what it meant to be an introvert and how God made us a certain way for His pleasure and purpose. She writes this as a gift to help introverts thrive in a culture that celebrates the extrovert until they take the time to appreciate all that an introvert brings to the table. You will love this interview. Thanks, Holley! Leave a message in comments to be entered to win your own copy. Since the time of this recording, Holley's latest devotional is out. I know what it's like to fight anxiety and depression, perfectionism and insecurity, doubt and burnout. I also know what it's like to become a kick-butt overcomer who refuses to let any of those things win, who finally discovered how to be comfortable and free in her own imperfect introvert skin.   __________ Introverts can be best at hospitality. Her very definitive opening response of "I am everybody; I am everyone." was the jumping off point for a rich, resonant conversation that touched on the creativity and interconnectivity of music as a universal language; how important and vital the relationship between teacher and student is in determining how the student ends up (or doesn't) finding their voice; how important it is for all of us to be heard (including what Lexa went through when she lost her voice for 4 months due to a cyst on her throat); the power and profundity of sacred music; her affinity for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach; along with some pointers for aspiring song writers (Lexa says it's really not as hard as one might think!) A story of (re)discovery. Growing up Ben Fritz did everything by the book and did all the "right" things. He went to a great college, I got a great degree, and eventually - got a great job. He worked really hard and within two years of graduating was making over $70,000/year. Except... he wasn't happy. A growth-oriented, forward-looking individual - Ben had no ambitions within the framework of his career. He didn't enjoy the job and felt like he was wasting his potential. You see, Ben knew that there was more in him, that he had something meaningful to contribute but he wasn't on the right path. So Ben started asking the deeper questions... What do I want? What do I care about? What does matter to me? What do I want to do for the rest of my life? What do I have to offer the world?   And then, Ben made the bold decision to quit the comfy job with the secure pay check job to pursue a job as a personal trainer, something he felt pulled to do. And also something that had never been presented as a "real, respectable career." This decision changed his life and now Ben is aligned and living the life he was meant to live. On his terms. BIO: Ben is a life coach who empowers difference-makers to realize their true potential, find fulfillment, and live freely. He believes deeply that we all have something to offer the world and that understanding that thing - the unique combination of things that makes us who we are - is the key to personal success, freedom, and fulfillment. He asserts that everything we want is within us. Ben is a big-thinker and deep-feeler and is crazy enough to think that he (along with every single one of us) can change the world. www.benjaminmfritz.com www.benjaminmfritz.com/podcast (Why the World Needs You podcast - can be found on major podcast platforms as well.)

Our lives being completely different than when we met four and a half years ago - both in exciting and challenging ways. Moving relatively quickly in all facets of our relationship and why it felt right and natural. A really difficult time in our lives that involved intense health issues for each of us... including almost breaking up and calling off our engagement. How Jessie just quit her job, what she plans to do, and how we're handling it as a couple. (This is both exhilarating and terrifying!) Show Notes: Episode 4- From Drained and Bleh to Energized in 7 minutes with Guest Benjamin Fritz, May 14 Today we have a special guest on our show, my friend Ben Fritz! Ben is the creator of “The Creative Energy Shift”, which we will talk about on the show today and he is also a fellow podcast host, “Why The World Needs You”. You can find Ben's bio and social contact info below. Today's show is going to be about coaching and what coaching means. You'll learn how to get inspired, motivated and how to learn to shift your mindset. Ben shares his story on how he had a career change in his life and how his original plans after college changed him and his career. Throughout his journey he realized his passion and knew he needed to make a shift. Early on in his college education he went for the career that led him to the money versus the path of his passion and purpose. He shares how it changed him and how his transition from a computer science programmer to fitness trainer to life coach as impacted his view on life. We talked about how money is a resources but can hurt you when you let it be the sole factor in deciding your career and your future path. We shifted our conversation to The Creative Energy Shift (CES). Ben believes that we each have a creative gift that we need to be giving the world.  The CES was born out of working with clients and people who are often working in careers that they are often not happy in or are too scared leaving their job. Minute 18:00 Making a risky changes while still keeping a job that can be consistent and stable. However when you want to create another world of work like a side hustle or gig you end up drained at the end of the day before you can even begin to get to put dinner at the table.   HOW DO YOU MAKE THE SHIFT Two states, creative state and survival state. We all have things we need to do in our lives to get where we want to be. It's hard to step into the person we want to become. Ben created this while working with his clients in harnessing the power of mindset, visualization and body to create a place this much light and more productive. HOW WE LET FEAR TAKE OVER FROM REACHING OUR GOAL Fear changes our mindset and always keeps us in the survival mode. Sometimes we are so scared to disappoint the people around us and trying to battle everything that we are dealing with like money, relationships, imposter syndrome, etc. Minute 22:00 SHIFTING THE CONVERSATION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE Often we are asked at a young age, what do you want to do when you grow up? How can we know who we want to be when we are still trying to tie our shoes? It's important to shift the conversation to learning to develop skills, understanding our values and using the strengths that we developed and are part of our unique personality and style to apply it to the world of work and future career. Using the conversation to really gather information and learn more about who we are meant to be.  Minute 28:40 WHERE DO YOU FIND A COMMUNITY AND HOW DO YOU BUILD ONE? Depending on what you want and where you are looking there are tons of communities and group to join and be part of that help you in your personal and professional life. Sometimes a community can lift you up and help you find your happy and your gift. We all have one and we have to work to find it. Ben says “hear the voice inside you and don't let it hold you back. That little voice is the true you and what is urging you to do the things you are meant to do.” He shares that he works with people who are often stuck and are looking for a place to connect. He uses his podcast to create that space and share the journey that people have lived with and their life experience. HOW TO FIND BEN? Bio Ben is a life coach whose mission is to empower difference-makers to realize their potential, do the work they want to in the world, and create a life of freedom & fulfillment. The "REAL" you is an amazing person!  You are a person who was made to fill a specific purpose!  The World NEEDS YOU!!! Once you embrace that you can let go of the old message that tells you that you are weird or not "normal".  What you need to be is not what others tell you to be but rather the best version of you that you can be.  The question in all of our lives is,  "who is running the show?". Are we living our life and running our business because it is how we SHOULD do it?  Or are we embracing who we are and allowing our strengths to shine?  Most importantly is to understand just how important who we are is and not let the person we are "supposed" to be drive the car that is our life. We are all familiar with the archetypal hero who risks life and limb for the greater good. They’re portrayed in the movies donning super powers, celebrated in the news for their bravery and defined as human exceptions in our collective psyche. But, what if a hero resides in all of us? Seems like an audacious suggestion, but what if it’s true? And if so, how could this realization impact you and the lives of those around you?  These are just a few of the questions Joy Economics host, Shani Godwin explores in her interview with Rodney Bullard, author of “Heroes Wanted: Why the World Needs You to Live Your Heart Out”.

If I told you that this week's episode was with a "grandma blogger" who built her business on a pile of failures, would you guess that I was talking about Crystal Paine?!  Probably not!  But it's true.  Crystal is so honest in this interview, as well as in her newest book: Money Making Mom: How Every Woman Can Earn More and Make a Difference. Sarah and I just love the way Crystal shares from her heart and holds nothing back.  She's also incredibly passionate about helping women to get out of survival mode so they can thrive.  You won't meet many successful online business owners who care more about giving than earning, but Crystal does!  Listen on, Brilliant Business Mom, for a breath of fresh air. On the Podcast 01:33 - Is Crystal a Grandma?!02:56 - Can you Relate?04:49 - 2 Parameters Crystal Sets to Take Back her Time07:26 - Before You Quit, Ask Yourself This08:36 - Rejections, Setbacks & Failures...What to do10:27 - The World Needs You!13:38 - Spoiler Alert - Crystal has Failed at Things!15:58 - On Learning New Tricks Press Play on the Podcast Player Below to Hear from Crystal! Is Crystal a Grandma?! Crystal doesn't have any real-life grandkids, but she's considered by some to be a Grandma blogger! That's because she started blogging 10 years ago...when most people had no idea what a blog was. Crystal initially started a "mommy blog", but in 2007 she started MoneySavingMom.com as a side hustle. After a year she realized that it was growing so quickly and doing so well that it made sense to give it her full attention. Crystal now has a full team of people working with her -- including her husband Jesse of 12 years. Can you Relate? In the course of helping families to save money and get by with less, Crystal realized something important about her audience: There was simply a point for many families where they were doing everything right and no longer had a “budget” problem but really had an income problem. Can you relate? I know there are some Brilliant Business Moms out there who are brilliant at budgeting, but maybe you have a child with special needs and the expenses are just too great. Maybe you want to serve in missions more often, but the budget won't allow it. Crystal has been passionate about this topic for years but decided to wait until the timing was just right. She now has many years of experience with running a business as well as making mistakes and learning fromher failures. Crystal shares ways for women to bring money into their families by combining their passions, gifts, and skills and making sure it is a blessing and not a burden.  2 Parameters Crystal Sets to Take Back her Time 1. Crystal sets time parameters that allow her to give designated time to both her family and her business. One way she does this is by “co-homeschooling” with her husband. She teaches in the morning and makes sure to remain fully present and invested in what she is doing. In the afternoons her husband takes over teaching andmanaging the kid’s activities and Crystal is able to fully focus on her business. 2. Crystal recently took email off of her phone, and that has made a huge difference! Since she uses her phone for her alarm in the morning (Shoutout to the Sleep Cycle App!) it stays right next to her in bed. Having e-mail on her phone was causing her to be bombarded with “to dos”, stress, and ideas that were preventing her from getting a good night’s sleep! Before You Quit, Ask Yourself This Growing a business is hard! If you're on the fence and thinking about quitting, ask yourself this question: "Is my business a blessing or a burden?" Does your business give you the quality of life you wantfor your family or is it causing you to be stressed and continually unhappy? If your business is becominga burden look at how you can either scale back or change directions. Rejections, Setbacks, & Failures...What to do Even 10 years into online business, Crystal confesses that she still faces rejections, setbacks, or even failures! And it happens more often than the rest of us might think. There are also challenges involved in leading a large team that just make life a little more complicated. When things get really challenging, and Crystal is tempted to quit, she always goes back to her "why" Knowing her "why" keeps her going through all of the difficult things, because those hurdles are worth it when you've accomplished your mission. Crystal’s “why” is to inspire and encourage women to stop living their lives stuck in survival mode. The World Needs You! While there are plenty of books on the market that will help women make more money, Crystal wanted to send a different message out into the world - one that would remind us of the true purpose of money. Making more money isn't about building your own little empire - filled with nice cars, big houses, and beautiful things. Yes, making money can be a blessing to your family, but it can also make an impact on the world around you. Crystal knows what it's like to live life with outstretched arms. She knows what a blessing it truly is to serve and give to others, and she wants more women to experience life this way. So, get off that couch, Brilliant Business Mom, the world needs you! Spoiler Alert - Crystal has Failed at Things! Crystal loves to say that MoneySavingMom.com became so successful because it was "built upon a pile of failures".  As with most successful entrepreneurs, Crystal is certainly not an overnight success. She tried a largerange of small businesses that failed. Crystal has sold on Ebay, resold books, sold handmadecloth diapers, and tried many different blogs! Before Money Saving Mom, Crystal had a blog foryoung moms, one for Christian women, a blog on politics, and a website about saving money.  All of these blogs were flops! However, each of these failures taught her lessons that have made her the successful business woman she is today. Crystal always focuses on learning and growing in everything she does.  In every situation, Crystal asks herself, "how can I make this better?"   “The day that you feel like you’ve arrived is the day that your business starts to die" On Learning New Tricks Crystal has jumped on the Periscope band wagon and is loving it! Although she is an introvert she scopestwice a day and has loved being able to connect with her audience immediately and authentically. Notonly has Periscope given her access to a new group of fans and followers but she is also going outsideher comfort zone and learning and growing! (That's one thing we really admire about Crystal - she's always trying new things and finding ways to grow as a person!) Find Crystal Online MoneySavingMom.com@moneysavingmom on PeriscopeHead to MoneyMakingMomBook.com to get more information about the book and get Crystal's 5 Day Course on Making an Income from Home.
