This week we're talking about the current Kickstarter from High Level Games, a game called Army Men, and we're joined by the head of High Level Games, Josh Heath (also of Werewolf: the Podcast and the OpCast), and the lead designer for the game, Neil Litherland. Army Men is a 5e driven game about playing in the world of those classic molded figures we all played with, and can still find so easily to this day. The system has been tweaked and prodded for the setting, and having seen the manuscript, the game just looks like awesomely good fun! Check out the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/highlevelgames/army-men Check out High Level Games at https://www.highlevelgames.ca/ and check out more from Neil either on his Improved Initiative blog https://taking10.blogspot.com/ or some of his other work (including his Patreon) via his Linktree -- https://taking10.blogspot.com/ d20 Network spotlight: The OpCast -- https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/opcast/episodes/ Game of the Week Steve S: The Fallen -- https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/287441/The-Fallen?affiliate_id=2018399 Josh H: Embers of the Imperium -- https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/415520/Embers-of-the-Imperium?affiliate_id=2018399 Neil L: Changeling: the Lost -- https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/1/White-Wolf/subcategory/3936/Changeling-The-Lost?affiliate_id=2018399 Steve G: Just Drive! -- https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/433624/Just-Drive-A-Ground-Vehicle-Supplement-for-Genesys?affiliate_id=2018399 and the Owen Stevens Medical Bills bundles -- https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?keywords=Owen%27s&filters=0_0_0_45305_0&x=0&y=0&author=&artist=&pfrom=&pto=&affiliate_id=2018399 *We have an affiliate link with Drive-Thru RPG. Using games to have conversations about topics is not a new concept but Josh Heath of High Level Games is looking at using a different medium: pen and paper role playing games. Using a character in a game he played for years to be something he wasn't in real life gave him the inspiration to create a 10 year plan for his life and how to get to where he is now. Using the table top format of games to help people have conversations about sensitive topics from today's issues is part of the idea behind High Level Games.

Josh Heath of High Level Games joins the show to find out if the Red Talons are right, and humanity needs to be purged. Refining their resumes, Josh and BK start hunting around the business world of Pentex and the subsidiaries from the book of the same name. From King Breweries, to Magadon, to Avalon Toys, the duo not only disassemble the business practices that make these companies so effective, but also pose potential story ideas for your chronicles. Whilst the phrase 'the Litany says I get to kill everyone' is used at least once, most of the ideas are pitched at creating tension and deeper exploration of corruption in Werewolf: the Apocalypse. We also discuss Josh's contributions to The Storyteller's Vault (check them out and support a fellow listener), and revisit some of the price point discussions from a previous episode. If you want to see a group playing one of his modules, look no further. Lastly, check out the High Levels Games Convention that will be happening later this year. You can support the show by picking up your copies of Drivethrurpg books using our affiliate links (below), providing some feedback or a rating via iTunes, and joining a broader community of oWoD fans over the forum. This is part thirty five of an actual play from the table that VP Quinn and Assistant to the Assistant to the Regional Manager Joel play at. The game is run by Andrew, and the players are Quinn playing a murderous goblin, Joel playing an elven plant magician, Ryan playing a human bureaucrat and Anthony playing a human ex prince of the Hegemony and the ships captain. In this, the final episode of The Aether Sea by High Level Games, the crew of the Free Ship Liberty tries to take on the general who has been taking their people from free town in a final confrontation. Will him and his minions kill the crew or will the crew prevail? What crazy weapon will Gril find to use this time, and how long will Captain Fletcher talk to people while everyone else fights his battle? TUNE IN TO FIND OUT! We would like to thank everyone for listening to our Aether Sea actual play episodes. It has been a lot of fun to play it, and we hope that you enjoyed listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it. Thanks for being with us through this, and we hope you will join us for our upcoming Star Trek actual play! After the Homeworld was ruined by magical warfare, dwarves, elves, goblins, humans and trolls have left it to seek their fortune among the stars. We play a small crew of misfits just trying to keep their ship running and their mouths fed in the vast Aether Sea. Our crew inhabits a rich, high-fantasy universe of magic-powered sailing ships, steampunk gadgets, interstellar travel, intrigue, and good old piracy. Aether Sea - A World of Adventure for Fate Core was written by Ed Turner.

We briefly discuss HLG Con in Atlantic City Oct 12-14 2018 and talk some of the new products we've launched as well. HLG is seriously leveling up, will you Level Up with us?
This is the first episode of a new podcast here at High Level Games. The hosts are Johnny Titanium, a long time adventurer, and Dreadmage Donzarion, a fearful Lich. In this new podcast the hosts will be talking in character about RPG related topics. In this episode, our heroes discuss adventuring parties, and break down the standard components of what makes a good group, plus give out a little advice so you can go out and form an adventuring party of your very own!
High Level Games had our corporate retreat on June 3rd this year and as part of it we played some games! This episode is a recording that was taken from one of those games called "Sixteen Tons" which was ran by Matthew Barrett. Sixteen Tons is a tabletop RPG about undead servants who rediscover their lost memories, and find themselves on the run from the forces that would turn them into mindless slaves again. In this first adventure, 'Tabula Rasa,' players learn about the world and create the initial set of characters through their actions. As a side note, we all connected online to play this, and as such we have to deal with peoples internet connections and Matthew's was a bit slow on the upload. This means that the players sometimes had a hard time understanding him as the sound on our ends garbled up. Thankfully this recording was taken by Matthew which means that the recording of his voice is still good, but there are a few places in the game where there is a pause or break due to the sound not coming through well to the players. That said, it was an incredibly fun game to play and the cooperative character creation is very interesting with a larger group.
In episode 8 of the High Level Games podcast we cover three questions from listeners and then dive into a discussion about the Dread RPG. Dread is a horror themed RPG that uses a Jenga tower as a game mechanic. If you knock over the tower, you are out of the story... usually through death! We talk about the strengths and weakness of the Dread RPG as we see them, and discuss the "Beneath A Metal Sky" module in a bit more detail.

This is the first episode in a new series we here at High Level Games are releasing in our actual plays. In this new series the group plays the D6 Star Wars Roleplaying Game with a new game master and different group of players than our Aether Sea actual plays. In this episode we have an introduction to the players and characters in the game, and have the group start to form up and get ready for their first mission all while meeting with some famous rebel heroes on the planet of Hoth, about a month before the events of "The Empire Strikes Back".
In episode 7 of the High Level Games podcast we begin by talking about the concept of a "geek off" as a way of playing and then move on to talking about our play through of "Greyhawk Ruins." This module was originally from AD&D and was converted to 3.5e by VP Quinn for our table. We discuss how the play style differed from our usual games, and what we liked about the module and a few of the issues that we had with it. We also cover ways to help make this module more interesting for your group with ways to add on to the content in the published book.
This is the first episode of our new podcast at High Level Games called "Leveling Up" as hosted by VP Quinn and Josh. This episode has an introduction to the hosts and their gaming history, and then moves on to talk about empathy in gaming and how gaming can foster empathy in players.
