Friends, it's finally here. BEAT NAVY WEEK! This week: Army Men's Swimming beat Navy for the first time since 1990. We'll take you through the meet and tell you how it happened and why Army looks to be in really good shape heading into the future. Then it's time to preview the biggest college football game of the year. We break down the game as only AFF can, tell you which match-ups to watch, which statistics might prove to be decisive, and how Army can win. We close it up with our Fact or Fiction takes and with Rob's favorite Army-Navy memory. It's a great show this week, and we're in for a terrific game. Go Army! Beat Navy!!!

Opening Bible verse: Matthew 24: 37-44 Does Christmas stress you out? It stresses me out! I'm not good at choosing gifts for people that I'm confident they will like. I stress about all the money involved, the mess, the extra annoying traditions like elves that need moving and on and on. This Sunday, November 27th, marks the first Sunday in Advent and in today's episode, I invite you into one of our family traditions that keeps me grounded in the reason for the season. This is not meant to be yet another thing added to your To Do List. Please do not even look at Pinterest for any ideas, keep it simple and stress free! Begin with asking your kids how they can use their time, talent, and treasure to bring Christ into the season. Our kids are so creative and once the ideas start to flow...there's no stopping them. I pray this tradition is one you and your family will embrace and look forward to year after year. Here is the list I mention in this episode along with the original old school YouTube video that shows you the Advent bags I mention in this episode. Merry Christmas! The opinions expressed by guests are their own, and do not necessarily reflect the views of or endorsement by the Information Professionals Association. During this episode, Dr. Jon Roginski discusses insider threats. Jon asserts that insider threat detection and mitigation is an inherently complex human problem, and describes two broad risk activities: trait-based and state-based. His colleagues at the West Point Insider Threat Program connect insider threats with the medical community and examine the problem as a living, breathing, and growing dynamic. Research Question: How do we lead the development and/or maintenance of organizational culture so that the workforce is connected to and invested in the organization and believes that connection and investiture is reciprocated. The program considers threat research from a variety of different vectors from the traditional (fraud, espionage, spillage) to contemporary...a holistic approach of creating an organizational ecosystem that is incompatible with threat. What does that really mean? A couple things. First, we consider many factors that erode our enterprises efficiency and readiness from the inside out to be insider risks or threats. We want to build a better place to live and work so people feel connected to and invested in their organization and environment so we can build up, rather than tear down. Second, if you have a research topic that you feel doesn't fit anywhere, come talk to me. You may be surprised at the connections that may be made to current projects or the appetite for a new approach! What's next on Switch Online's Nintendo 64 service? We talk about the best and worst of what they could add, and which rights might be too expensive for them to bother. Somehow this leads us to talk about Charlie Blast's Territory, and the Army Men RTS. Other topics include the novelty of Switch Sports wearing thin, the Halo Juneteeth debacle, and what games could use more or less story. And then there's Kirby 64, a game about mashing your abilities together and making Kirby do funny stuff. Also, settle this for us - is Kirby's Air Ride a "real" Kirby game? Real Time Strategy and Tactical games have a rich yet unique history and conjure up an incredibly diverse set of games. From Pikmin to StarCraft, to playing Army Men in a sandbox, these types of games are hard to put labels on but you know them when you see them. While these games mostly had their hey-day outside of consoles, the GameCube boasted a couple of long-running franchises such as Worms and Army-Men (no not the Toy Story Army Men although Mike was pretty convinced that they were). Friend of the show Jason Hodgson joins the boys to discuss his memories of growing up with Worms games and the desire to see Worms Armageddon ported to the Switch. Finally Neil gets to talk about one of his favourite hidden gems for the cube, Nintendo-published Batallion Wars, a spin-off of the Advanced Wars series that is an incredible amount of fun.
This week the boys delve in to Andy's Toy Chest to cover the timeless first instalment in the Toy Story franchise. Tread Perilously finally releases an episode on Christmas Eve Day with the Tread Merrily Christmas Carol finale: The Six Million Dollar Man's "A Bionic Christmas Carol." Steve Austin's (Lee Majors) Christmas Eve Day plans are interrupted when he is ordered to inspect the Mars mission space module being built at Budge Industries. Steve soon discovers the boss, Horton Budge (special guest Ray Walston), is rather Scrooge-like in his appreciation of Christmas, safety tolerances on the engineering specs, and his nephew (special guest star Dick Sargent). Will Steve's bionics, and Budge's dependence on a mysterious liquid drug, give the situation a more Christmas feel? Justin finally watches his first episode of The Six Million Dollar Man. He and Erik debate its political leanings and its hilariously dated title. Erik attempts one of his most obscure impressions ever. Steve Austin's mustache gets reviewed. The pair debate whether or not Walston brought his A-Game to the proceedings. WarGames is noted for its great research scene. Erik introduces the idea of Bionic Empathy. Justin decides he's a-ok with Ethan Hawke while Erik offers a differing opinion. They both agree on what Budge is taking for his unspecified illness, though. Knock-off Army Men come into existence and powdered soup mix makes another special appearance.

Time to Take a trip down memory lane, as Drew, Nathan, Scot and Cory reminisce of such awesome classic games such as DRIVER, METAL GEAR SOLID, SMUGGLERS RUN, and ARMY MEN, why not take that trip with them...….
For several months now, my 5-year old has been playing with Army Men characters. We set up epic battles together, and then he typically tells me something like, "My guy is going to snipe your guy!" His army always seems to win — by a long shot! I've loved this time with him. And then I saw a dark side. Let me begin by saying... I have no problem with my sons playing "Good guy, bad buy" games. I have no problem with my sons talking about, or acting out fighting scenes, as they often do with toy sticks, swords or other weapons they manufacture. I have no problem with my sons learning how to protect themselves and others, figuratively and literally. I have no problem with any child learning about the warrior that lives within them, and all of us. As a kid, I got tremendous value from studying martial arts. I loved the karate kid movie. I played cops and robbers. In church I learned about evil, and the forces that stood against it. What I do have a problem with is... Senseless violence. I do have a problem when fighting has no moral compass. I have a problem with attacking others from a place of anger or revenge. "An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind." ― Mahatma Gandhi I see a problem when fighting becomes an addiction, an identity, and the only place to feel and fuel power. "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster." ― Friedrich Nietzsche I have a problem if peace isn’t part of the conversation. "Dad, how do soldiers killing each other solve the world's problems?" ― Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes As Ocean played more and more with the army men, I realized there was only one conversation happening. That conversation was about dominating and destroying me. He had only one story in his mind -- win at all costs. While I want my son feel like a winner, in this case, I felt the story he was living out daily needed some expansion. To add texture and open his awareness around this subject, my wife and I decided to add some new characters to the story. For Christmas, one of his presents were army men who instead of carrying bazookas, were doing yoga :) *Click here to see how Ocean reacted! It's priceless.
Break out that random bucket of plastic toys you acquired somehow, because it's time to play ARMY MEN! 3DO's aggressively-marketed series was trying hard to be the next big thing; let's see if there's any reason why it should have been! Kevin Kim joins us to talk plastic warfare, interdimensional portal running, and all the sexism the late 90's video game industry could muster. Today I’m sharing a story that has been unfolding for me since 2015, when I one day acted on a thought and then got curious. This story of my ancestor Woodrow Dunkley has changed my life. That’s what stories do. My hope is that as I share it with you, you too will have the desire to learn more about someone in your family tree that may have a story that is begging to be explored and preserved. This is not an image of anyone I know, but these boys—barely men—serving in the Philippines must surely look similar to the boy who’s story I’m sharing today. This image is from General McArthur’s library collection. I honestly believe the more conversant we become with family history stories, the more we can draw strength from the experiences of those that have come and gone before us—and when we share these stories, especially with younger family members, the more they will see their current circumstances as something suited to their growth—the more they will recognize their potential to do hard things and develop the grit that will allow them to have story-worthy experiences of their own making. Side NOTE: FamilySearch International is celebrating 125 years of helping people make inspiring connections. FamilySearch is 100% FREE. There are more than 13 million FamilySearch registered users and 7.42 BILLION searchable names—that’s a LOT of names. It’s very likely that a few of those names—those people are connected to YOU. Today on the show we have the head coach of Army Men’s Lacrosse, Joe Alberici. Coach Alberici is a graduate of Alfred College where he was a two time All-American and a 3-time Captain. He started his coaching career at Alfred as a graduate assistant before moving to be the head coach at SUNY Oneonta. He then became the assistant coach at West Point for two seasons before taking the assistant coaching job at Duke University. He stayed at Duke for 9 seasons before returning to West Point to be named the Head Coach of Army Lacrosse. He’s been at Army for more than 14 seasons and in 2008 was named the Patriot League Coach of the year. Coach and I got a chance to talk about a lot of different things like becoming a better leader, instilling confidence, being pragmatic, mental & emotional toughness and much more.
