Darin Roberge is a veteran executive, analyst, and thought leader in the collector and classic car scene. As president of Motor Works Marketing, publisher of the Z 260 newsletter series, and current caretaker of Arizona Car Week, Darin has helped shape the future of America's most iconic car events while championing nonprofit causes and classic car culture. On this episode we talk about: Early hustle lessons: From picking up dog poop at a humane society to refereeing youth basketball, Darin learned early the value of doing work you genuinely care about—and how passion can shape a career. Pursuing what you love: Darin's entire professional life has revolved around his core interests—animals, guitars, cars, and motorcycles. He describes his path not as accidental, but as a blend of deliberate choices and seizing “right place, right time” opportunities. Unusual entry to the car business: After attending car auctions for years, a fateful incident (his girlfriend slipping and falling on a car at an event) led to a backstage introduction to the CEO of Russo and Steele. Within months, Darin went from punk rock frontman and nightclub promotions to a leadership role at one of the industry's major auction houses. Reinvention and loss: The sudden career shift wasn't easy—Darin lost friendships and faced accusations of “selling out.” He discusses the emotional fallout, what it means to outgrow old circles, and why ultimately you're the only one responsible for making decisions that serve your future self. Mindset and skill-building: Darin credits humility, a willingness to learn, and constantly offering value as his keys to success, both in the boardroom and as a leader in car culture. Leveling up in the industry: Now as the head of Arizona Car Week, Darin has tripled the size of the event, rallying the local community to create a car show that includes 30+ events—many of them free—making the culture accessible to everyone, not just millionaire collectors. Community impact: Arizona Car Week is a $300M economic engine for the region, supporting jobs, tourism, schools, and local infrastructure. Nonprofit innovation: Darin's newest ventures—Motor Works Gives and Classic Cars for Nonprofits—offer zero-cost, low-lift fundraising programs to help organizations monetize car donations and auction opportunities, raising over $25M for more than 40 organizations since 2018. Key advice: Life is long, and you're never “locked in.” If you're facing a major (possibly terrifying) change, be tough, stay open, seek positive outside passions (like boxing or music), and surround yourself with people who help you evolve. Top 3 Takeaways Don't Wait for Permission—Make Your Own Luck: Sometimes radical life changes—no matter how uncomfortable—open doors to once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Community and Flexibility Matter: Listening to your audience, staying humble, and being willing to adapt are essential for building lasting business and personal impact. Work That Means Something—To You and Others: Forget “get rich quick.” If you stay engaged with work you care about and strive to help your community, profit and fulfillment follow. Forget the tired “vacation = cocktails” script. Travel can be so much more exhilarating, especially when you're clear-headed, confident, and fully present. In this episode, I'm sharing my 12 favorite travel hacks that make exploring the world as a non-drinker absolutely liberating. As you probably know by now, culture is my lifeblood, and I travel a LOT. I love seeing the world, meeting new people, trying new food, and swimming in new waters. Some of my travel hacks are beneficial no matter who you are (like how to lean into credit card benefits and breeze through airport security!) while others are especially good to know as a nondrinker (for example, learning how to ask for non-alcoholic drinks in the local language). I used to sit by the pool with a drink in hand, never leaving the resort. Now? I think of travel very differently, chasing adventures where I can be active and present, from hiking to snorkeling to exploring ancient ruins. These hacks will change the way you plan your next trip. Get ready to travel lighter, braver, and way more alive. IN THIS EPISODE: How learning a few words in the local language opens up a vibrant world of alcohol-free drinks (mocktails, mineral water, juices, and more!) that you'd never spot on the menu Leveling up your jet-setting, from hacking credit card points for nearly free flights and resorts to breezing past airport lines with Global Entry and TSA PreCheck Planning trips around wellness, adventure, and self-care, and why ditching the drink helps you discover new cultural, physical, and foodie experiences The exact things I look for in Airbnbs and hotels (including hidden gems!), and how airport lounges, hydration, and supplements help me feel amazing on the road LINKS/RESOURCES MENTIONED Check out Episode 229: Have the Best Alcohol-Free Summer Ever, Episode 188: Following Our Passions, Traveling the World, and How I'm Living the Life I Used to Dream Of, and Episode 135: Moving to Europe for the Summer - How I Made It Happen for more travel inspired episodes. In entrepreneurship, talking about money is far from taboo. So many people are raised with an aversion to talking openly about money and often tie their income or ability to make money to their self-worth. If you really want to get good at online business, you have to learn to get clinical with your feelings about money and realize that just because the client is the one with the money, doesn't mean they hold more power than you do. Christian from Imaginary Game Studios joins Ben this week to talk about a word that is very dear to him. In addition to being a component in the name of Christian's game development company, imagination is something that both of the hosts love to use in their day-to-day lives and in all of their creative endeavors because it brings them so much joy. As one would expect from the topic of imagination, the conversation goes many fascinating places—cooking, mixology, childhood toys and games, and imaginary friends… to name a few. In the video games-focused segment, they engage in a little brainstorming session about a couple of video game ideas Ben has had over his lifetime. Finally, they "put a bow on it" with a question from Christian about Ben's most impactful gaming moment. *** 00:00:20 - Actively supremo, Spaghetti-Os, youthful eating habits, and prison fruit rollups 00:03:20 - Rogue Climber development, an announcer voice, and other show considerations 00:05:26 - Attending virtually, advice on attending the Tokyo Game Show, and proper nouns 00:08:58 - A Scottish themed suggestion, Legos and other toys of our youth, and the FRPG 00:15:29 - Don't forget your globe, hitting Christian with the definition, and Christian hits back 00:18:03 - Visualization, cooking with Christian, pungent, creative mixology, and Sex on a Bus 00:24:15 - The imagination game, sandboxes, Kenshi, and when Activision was cutting edge 00:29:40 - Ben is left speechless, creating strategies, and getting into the weeds of “the meta” 00:35:05 - The imaginary friends of your childhood… TODAY, and the death of unique premises 00:38:45 - Skyfall …finger, Double Fine games, Ben starts pitching game ideas, and mimes 00:41:37 - Roger Rabbit, noir meets buddy cops, cost cutting measures, and Seth MacFarlane 00:47:06 - Side-scrolling beat ‘em up dates, diversity perspectives, and making infinity money 00:52:02 - Product versus art, Ben's struggle with reviews, and Christian's least favorite game 00:56:59 - Leveling the playfield with consoles, marketing moves, and Ben's most meaningful 01:02:46 - Creating sharable experiences with game design, and Christian convinces Ben *** Follow all the shenanigans of Imaginary Game Studios here… On their website: https://www.imaginarygamestudios.com/ On their Discord: https://discord.gg/YyDD7ECtdJ On their YouTube channel - they post all sorts of stuff from gaming news, to gaming podcasts, to game jams, to the occasional cooking video: https://www.youtube.com/@caxtnova Follow Two Vague on… Our website: https://www.twovaguepodcast.com On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/two_vague_podcast On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@twovaguepodcast On Substack: https://twovaguepodcast.substack.com/ On Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/twovaguepodcast.com For show appearance and other inquiries, contact us at: twovaguepodcast@gmail.com -AND- …for all of your PRI and 2VP merch check out the Partly Robot Industries store at TEEPUBLIC! https://www.teepublic.com/user/partly-robot-industries *** References, Links, and Tags Imaginary Game Studios GAMES on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2673440/Rogue_Climber/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/2175790/Meticulous/ #Podbean #DIYPodcast #ApplePodcast #VideoGames #Trivia #Comedy #Talkshow #2VP #TwoVaguePodcast #PodernFamily #InterviewShow #GamersofThreads #Gamer #PartlyRobot #PartlyRobotIndustries #TeePublic #RogueClimber #Meticulous #ImaginaryGameStudios #Caxtnova

In this powerful episode of The Next Level Podcast, I'm joined by two of our lead coaches in The Next Level Experience, Frank Young and Cass Zimmerman. Together, we unpack one of the biggest truths in personal transformation: if you want to change your life, you've got to change your identity. We dive deep into the psychology of why people stay stuck — stuck in patterns, stuck in ruts, stuck in stories they didn't choose. We explore what it really takes to shift out of autopilot and into intentional living. This episode is more than just a conversation — it's a wake-up call. We also talk about: Why most people sabotage their own growth The discomfort of letting go of your old self Why lasting change is about who you become, not just what you do How coaching and community make all the difference Leveling up in life takes work — but trying to do it alone? That makes it exponentially harder. If this episode lit something up in you, don't ignore it. Spots for the next round of The Next Level Experience are almost gone.
