Our last episode of May is here, and we can hardly believe it! It was a privilege to have our fellow Desert Springs staff member and friend Manny Hernandez in the studio with us. Manny came on staff as our High School Pastor in December 2021 and we're so thankful that he and his family came to be a part of the ministry that we do. Today we get to get up close and personal with Manny as he walks us through what his life looked like before Christ. Manny was born and raised in Arizona and grew up with somewhat of a Catholic background. As he describes it was more of a base knowledge than any kind of relationship. He had many talents, especially in art and music but in some ways that made it difficult for him to settle on a direction for his life after high school. He struggled to find where his value and worth came from and when a certain relationship crumbled it really sent him into a spiral. He was crushed but knew that he had to move forward and decided to start pursuing a career though he wasn't ready to place his faith in the Lord. Meeting his eventual wife Venesa (we've linked her story below!) was a huge part of the journey that led him to a relationship with Christ. We would love for you to listen to this story as Manny walks us through his moment of salvation, serving as a husband and father, the transition into full-time ministry and the decision that was made to be a part of Desert Springs. You will be encouraged and uplifted through this conversation! Pastor Danny Anderson of Emmanuel Church in Indiana talks about taking the lead role at a mega church at age 28, a crazy season of leadership, and how he worked to reshape the church toward reaching the unchurched.  After over 60% of the church left (yup, you read that right) God began to free the church up to gain momentum in reaching the lost in Indianapolis. Danny has served as Lead Pastor of Emmanuel Church since 2006, having previously served as Emmanuel's High School Pastor for six years. As Lead Pastor, Danny is the primary communicator for Emmanuel's weekend messages, and serves as leader of the Staff Leadership Team. An avid reader, Danny also enjoys shooting hoops in his limited free time, as well as spending time with his wife Jackie, their three children (Andrew, Beau, & Ruby), and dog Buddy. He is a dedicated fan of Michael Jordan and has quoted the movie, Braveheart, from the platform on more than one occasion.
