Episode Summary: Andrew Tate is a former is a kickboxing-champion-turned-social-media-influencer who has become popular among young men for his views on modern masculinity. He has over ten million followers on X. Regarding his influence on American Christian teen boys, Nancy Pearcey, author of The Toxic War on Masculinity, wrote recently on X: A former graduate student of mine now teaches at a high school, and she sent me an email saying, “All my male students are fans of Andrew Tate. They are even including quotes from Andrew Tate in the yearbook.” I asked, “Where do you teach?” She answered, “At a classical Christian school.” I believe that young Christian men are paying attention to Andrew Tate, because he is pushing back against the cultural pressure that is emasculating men. This episode examines closely five identifiable components of that pressure, coming not only from the culture but from the church.[=New Resource:Men Helping Son's Embrace Biblical Manhood: A Five-Week Study for High School Guys Designed for Dads or Youth Leaders to LeadFor Further Prayerful Thought:What are your thoughts about the growing popularity of Andrew Tate even among Christian men?Which parts of the secular culture's attack on masculinity stood out most to you?Which parts of the church's egalitarian attack on biblical teaching or Bible- believing church leaders reticence to celebrate the glory of God's gender design bother you the most? For the printed version of this message click here. For a summary of topics addressed by podcast series, click here. For FREE downloadable studies on men's issues click here.To make an online contribution to enable others to hear about the podcast: (Click link and scroll down to bottom left)

The World-O-Meter is pretty impressive. It's calculating the births and deaths in 20 countries by the second (or faster), to let us know approximately how many people are alive on planet Earth each second of every day. How can we as youth workers, youth pastors, student ministry leaders, and volunteers reach the millions that are being born each year, each second of every day? It's Overwhelming... So how? Rusha Latif is an Egyptian-American researcher and author based in the San Fransisco Bay Area. In episode 44 of Tahrir Podcast, we discussed her book, “Tahrir's Youth: Leaders of a Leaderless Revolution,” (American University in Cairo Press, 2022) which explores the role of the Revolutionary Youth Coalition (RYC) in the 2011 Egyptian revolution. Rusha challenges the prevailing narrative that the revolution was spontaneous and leaderless, offering a compelling ethnographic study that highlights the organizational strategies and leadership dynamics within the RYC. The book delves into the personal and political stories of key youth leaders, examining how their diverse backgrounds and shared commitment shaped the revolutionary movement in Tahrir Square. Through their experiences, Latif provides critical insights into the potential of horizontal leadership and participatory democracy in revolutionary organizing. Tahrir's Youth not only preserves the voices of Egypt's youth revolutionaries but also offers lessons for future movements around the world, especially in understanding the complexities of leadership and the limits of grassroots mobilization.Episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/tOBCbOXe7m0Rusha's book: https://aucpress.com/9781649030207/Streaming everywhere! https://linktr.ee/TahrirPodcastReach out! Have you ever wondered what it takes to use creativity to drive global change? In this episode of the Innovation Storyteller Show, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with AY Young, CEO and flagship artist of the Battery Tour. AY is not your average musician—he's redefining how we think about performance, energy, and sustainability. As someone named one of the UN's 17 Youth Leaders, AY has taken on the ambitious challenge of aligning his music with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through his Battery Tour, he's powered over 950 concerts globally using renewable energy while inspiring communities and corporations like General Motors and Samsung to get involved. Our conversation dives into AY's journey, from his early inspiration watching his parents transform their Kansas City neighborhood block by block to his innovative approach to creating music that powers real change. We also explore his groundbreaking Project 17, an album featuring one song for each of the SDGs, created in collaboration with some of the world's top artists. This isn't just a story about music; it's about how each of us can be an outlet for change. Tune in to hear AY's incredible journey, the obstacles he's faced, and how he's building a movement that bridges music, sustainability, and innovation.

Where the Bible is clear about God's will, we must obey. But what about the thousands of choices we have in life where there doesn't seem to be specific clarity in God's Word? Do we pause and wait to hear the voice of the Lord? What about the people who seem to constantly say “God told me this?” Are we not walking with Jesus because we don't have a steady stream of “God told me this?” As we continue our series Knowing and Doing God's Will, Jay highlights the many tools God has given us to make wise choices in areas where there are not specific commands from the Lord in Scripture. Borrowing the wisdom of Gary Freison and his book “Decision Making and the Will of God”, Jay walk through the different gifts God has given us that can serve as guideposts for decision making. One of the great paradoxes of life is that more choices don't always lead to a happier life. Never ending choices can be paralyzing. Additionally, many choices give the illusion of freedom on the front end but ultimately lead to entrapment, slavery, and devastating consequences. As we continue our series on Knowing and Doing God's Will, today Jay takes about surprising principle: “Maximum Freedom is Found Under God's Authority”. Jay discusses how there is a beauty in God's word of eliminating the pressure of unending choices. Additionally, he shows how what may first appear restriction actually produces a greater degree of freedom. When we choose to seek and honor God's will in our lives, we are free from many of the devastating consequences of sin, including disease, regret, and destructive relationships. By submitting ourselves to the authority of God's word and limiting our choices to those God permits, we experience a far greater joy and satisfaction in life, as well as the anticipation of eternal reward for a life that's pleasing to God.
